[UPDATE 21/Jan/2004] Trade Command Extension MK3

Post by BurnIt! »

Code: Select all

                        =======
                         ABOUT
                        =======

The Trade Command Software MK3 is a new upgrade available at the
TerraCorp HQ and various Teladi Equipment Docks. This extension
is compatible to TS, TP, M3 and M4 class ships as well as the
Goner Ship. You might think a price of 501.338 Cr is a bit high
but believe me it's justified when comparing the cost to the
profit this extension can make.
Once this software kit is installed on a ship, that ship will
feature a new command "Start sector trader" in the Trading
Command Console. Give this order and the ship will start to
trade autonomously in its current sector aiming for the best
profit.

Every time a ship running this software has made a profit of
50.000 Cr (for you!) it will substract a small fee from your
account, consider this a maintenace and parking fee. At the same
time the ship will enter the next "level". The higher the level
is, the more intelligent this ship will behave when trading.
For example from level 4 on it will check the product of the
station the ship is landed at and see if it can be sold for a
profit ensuring no unneccessary empty runs are made.
Note that these levels are bound to the "pilot" of the ship.
They will remain even if the command is stopped, however if
you enter the ship you "fire" the pilot and all levels are gone!

This package contains the "sectortrader" version that is only
capable of trading within one single sector - it will not pass
jumpgates on its own.
The next version will include the "universetrader" which is capable
of doing intersector trading and eventually will even use the
jumpdrive
This thread is for discussion of the new Trade Command Extension Mk3 that is avilable in the download-section for registered users.

Before you complain about not being able to use it remember that patch 1.2 is required!

Please stick to this topic! If you have problems with the script or specific questions post here - if you have general scripting questions please post them in a different thread.
Note that the ScriptEditor is still not officially supported!

All the installer buttons are in a foreign language (at least to me), German perhaps? Is there an English version or do I just hope the buttons are intuitive?

They're in German but with translations right next to them.

Have a better look.

Problem with Trade MK3

Post by Curly »

I installed the software on one of my ships, and I have had it run a few trade runs. However, I can't seem to see where the profit is going since my main account hasn't changed since I started running it. Is the money deposited to your main account, or does it go to the ship's homebase?

Thanks

Depends.

If the ship has a homebase and this homebase has more than 50000 credits available then the ship will use the money of the homebase.
If the homebase has less than 50000 credits it will kill its homebase-setting and use the player account for trading.

This method was neccessary because a trade with a homebase that has 0 credits will not be able to trade.

There is no official version a (or any other designation for that matter)
The one in the download section is the latest available version and no additional stuff is required.

That refers to a mini-bugfix which was done last night. That replaced the current version, it's no own new version.

Hmm...I can seem to buy stuff from station in sector that I do not have any ship/station in. And some sector are the sector that sell the Trade mk3 thing. Some place do not sell that trade mk3 and can allow me to buy stuff there as well. Such sector as Argon Prime. Is this suppose to happen?

This is a wonderful idea, but I think that I may be using it wrong. I keep getting messages from the Capt. that he can't find anything to trade in that sector. I move him to another sector, does a few runs, the sends the same message. I can't turn my back on the ship for long before having to maintain it's route. Any thoughts?

Nope he's just ringing you to say there's no more profit in the sector.

Everything is within normal parameters, move along to AC ;)

Erm well

The software costs alot of credits to buy.

Burnit! could we not see it improved so that if the captain can't find any sales in the current sector he does a check of surrounding sectors (1 jump away) and starts selling that way. Or maybe just change it so thats default?
That way were not having to micromanage every little thing...

Oh what about after a capatin reaches a certain level he gains the ability to hit connecting sectors 1 jump away from his defined sector. Then maybe at another higher level he gains 2 sector jumps to like a max of 3 or something. This shows thier seasoned and know thier way around the sectors, they could even charge for having to jump like maybe 10% or so of the haul... (or profits made but i don't know if thats possible in game).

Anyway Awsome Script :)
Thanks for making it.

Definitely an interesting script. I've got a few questions though.

Can this script be used to maintain a fab empire? If you set the trader to one of your fabs as homebase, will he attempt to maintain it, or is homebase just a flag for where he should deposit money?

Is there any way to control what he trades, or is it simply a script that trades EVERY commodity until no profit can be found?

What I'd really like to see, besides the ability for "captains" to cross jumpgates is automating the process of fab maintenance.

For example, the Teladi AutoTrader script allows one to set a trader to search for a ware for buying or selling in any amount across any number of gates. However, once the trader has completed the task, he then sits and waits for more orders.

A REALLY cool script would do both. Tell your "captain" to buy x amount of a ware, drop it off at homebase, then sell homebase's product for best price. This way, one trade ship can have "runs" like any normal trader would do. Anyone know if this type of script exists or is even possible?

What I'd like to see is some kind of extension in this script that allows for say.. A method of maintaining multiple factories without relying on NPC stations for initial resources.. I mean if you own one of EVERY type of factory in the shipyards, and a bunch of solars.. You should conceivably be able to set up freight routes for those ships, so Ship A takes energy from SPP A and takes it to Mine A, then returns empty. A command for the ship of "Transfer Goods" Where you select one station for being a source, and one for being a target.. Plus set parameters on how much of said resource you want to have brought over per run.. This way you can decrease all your expenses without having to manually run the resources packets between stations every time you want this done...
