Chapter 15

Sherry stayed busy looking at the sights while Josh used the time to design a better missile to us on the Xenon. The battle seamed to rage on as the Argon would secure their space only to be attacked time after time. The hornet missile was powerful but big and bulky and easy to shoot down or evade. And the silkworm was a fare missile but lacked the punch it needed to turn the tables on the battle front. The new interceptor missile had open the door up to new technology advancements in missile design and Josh intended on using them on other missile classes.

[Josh] “Sarah I want you to build 5 prototype missiles to test on Xenon ships. Place them in the Exaireo for storage and have them built and ready for testing when we get back.
Contact Ban Danna and have him send us an ace pilot with a new Nova to try out the new missiles on the Xenon.”
Sarah sent the message as Josh sat down to eat while Sherry walked up smiling and said. “I just finished the last sight. Man I fell like I been setting for a month. How long did it take?”
[Josh] “Sarah the total time please.” [Sarah] “Seventy hours and ten minutes.”
[Josh] “Did you find what you were looking for?”
[Sherry] “I wasn’t looking for any thing. I was just doing what the President asked me to do. And I want to send her a copy of the sights I just seen with there location on a picture map of the planet. Josh I don’t always have a hidden agenda to accomplish. My task are mostly to the point. I have discovered that you on the other hand usually are working on two or three jobs at the same time. Have you been working something on me?”
[Josh] “Why sure! I want you to be my love slave is it working?”
Sherry’s face turned a bright red at the remark as she smacked Josh on the arm saying. “Josh I can’t believe you said that have you no shame! I think you said that just to make me blush.”
Josh smiled at Sherry’s red faced saying. “No secret operations about you. Although I would like to know how someone’s face can turn that red. [As her face turned back red again.] But I have been busy designing a missile to help defeat the Xenon that keep attacking.”

[Sherry] “I noticed every time I seen you. You had your head in the monitor working on something. Can you tell me about it or is it classified?”
[Josh] “No I can tell you just don’t tell anyone else. It’s a little faster than a hornet but carry’s a 75K payload while being as responsive as a silkworm. And it will cost less and take less time to build than a hornet.”
[Sherry] “Like I said Josh you are making a difference.” As she kissed Josh.
The two then sat down at the table to enjoy a meal together and as the ship headed for the TL and back to their responsibilities.
After eating the two decided to watch the news highlights and catch up on current affairs. As they sat together both being exhausted Sherry laid her head on Josh’s shoulder to rest and within minutes they both were asleep.
[Sarah] “Josh we will be docking on the TL in 20 minutes.” Josh opened his eyes and said. “Please repeat the message I was asleep.”
[Sarah] “We will be docking on the TL in 19 minutes. And you have a coded message from Ban Danna.”
[Josh] ’I’ll take it up front in the cockpit.”
Josh opened the message. “Mr. Galen I have dispatched a Nova to your TL for the missiles. Anything to turn the battle around in our favor would be greatly appreciated. All we been doing is swapping licks with the Xenon we need to take the battle to them and so far all we able to do is just hold the sector. Anything else you have in your arsenal or in the making please fill free to put them to use we need all the help we can get.”
[Josh] “I want you to build ten heavy fighter drones for Ban Danna.”

[Sarah] “I will have to slow the construction on the new ship adding two more days.”
[Josh] “That’s fine build the drones. I believe after he tries the missiles he’ll be placing a large order for more. Then when the drones start blowing up the Xenon fighters he’ll be wanting more of them. Have the HQ build a missile building unit then a unit to build heavy drones and a power plant for each unit in the lower dock area. When the missile unit is finished start production and build 200 missiles and store them in a TS. Then build 20 heavy drones when that unit is finished and store them in a TS.”

[Sarah] “All TS ships are in service except your Demeter and 20 drones will not fit in the ship.”
[Josh] “Then place them in storage containers till they‘re sold or needed.”

Josh woke Sherry up giving her time to get a cup of coffee and her belongings ready.
[Sarah] “A new Nova just entered the sector. It’s the ship and pilot you requested for the missile testing.”

[Sherry] “Josh promise you’ll eat breakfast with me after we land before you take off again.”
[Josh] “I’ll meet you in the officers lounge after I talk to the pilot. Go ahead and order me what we ate yesterday at breakfast.”
The Zipper landed and docked the two headed out Sherry for the lounge and Josh to talk to the pilot.
The Pilot saluted Josh as he walked up saying . [At ease Pilot.] Josh then explained about the missiles firepower and their blast radius. The Pilot saluted Josh as he left for his Nova after the missiles were loaded. Josh left for the lounge to meet Sherry for breakfast.

[Sarah] “Josh you have a secure message from the Security Director.”
[Josh] “I’ll look at it on my PDA in the lounge.”
Josh sat down to eat the breakfast that Sherry ordered for him and read the message.
“Dear Mr. Galen we have had a strange request from a Teladi. His sits on the Teladi Company board of directors and has made the Argon a very generous offer to allow him to build a Trading Station in the new sector. This is not a request we have granted the request.
He has signed a contract agreeing to live by and be subject to Argon Law. Thirty days after the grand opening up of the sector for settlers to colonize the Planet he will start building his station.
He has also obtained the right to build a computer and chip plant on the planet as well as a large parcel of land to live on and farm till his death.
After his death he wishes all his wealth to be sold and the credits to be given to charities of his choice.
He will be arriving in the sector in a few days to view the area we approved for him to build on and his farm land. I’m asking that you personally take the Teladi to see the areas agreed on for his factory’s and farm.”

[Sherry] “I see you got the request about the Teladi. I got one to asking that I act as a good will ambassador. Which means that we will be going back to the planet together. I suggest you take a larger ship to accommodate everyone. He will be arriving in a new M6 Teladi Corvette with his personal servant and cook. All you have to do is take him a servant and cook to look at the planet.”

[Josh] “The M6 docks an M5 ship. They can follow us till we get near the planet then I’ll dock with the M6 and pick him and his servants up. And you can set with him as he views the planet. That way we can sleep on the Zipper and he can stay on his Corvette.”
[Sherry] “That sounds good to me. If it’s fine with the Teladi it’s fine with me. I guess I’ll be staying with you for a while.”
Josh had a room prepared for Sherry and her things delivered to it as they finished their meal.

Josh stayed busy the next two days playing catch up with his different ventures and paper work.
[Sarah] “Josh. Ban Danna is coming to talk to you about the missiles. He’s ship is entering the sector now.”
[Josh] “Are the drones ready?” [Sarah] “Yes there in the cargo area.”
[Josh] “Have one delivered to the docking bay so he can see it up close.”

Ban Danna docked his Nova as Josh went to meat him as he exited his ship Josh said. “Welcome aboard Sir.”
[Ban Danna] “Josh we were very pleased with the missiles. How fast can we have some more?”
[Josh] “I believe at last count there was about 50. Please come with me I want to show you a new heavy drone.”
[Ban Danna] “I’ll take the missiles you have and at least 500 more. You said they would cost 8400 each is that still the price?”
[Josh] “Yes sir 8400 each. I can make about 60 a day. You can pick the 50 up at the HQ after that they’ll be at the Fortress Rock Weapons Production Center. This is what I want you to see a 25meg shielded fighter drone with 4 AHPT and a rear turret. Its can reach a top speed of 495m/s. The steering is 275 and acceleration is 250. I designed this as a remote defense and attack fighter. It will attack the nearest enemy or any target you want including turrets while dodging incoming fire.
And it has the same hull thickness as a Nova. I have ten for you to try out as a gift to the Argon Navy. The next ones will cost 450,000 credits each. Four or five on each capital for protection will be a must have after you try them out. And if one does get shot down you wont lose a pilot. You just launch another drone. One drone can take down a M3 on its own. It don’t eat sleep or get sick or worried about dieing. And your maintenance crew can repair or replace anything on the drone. I’ll give you a list of electrical parts and cost every thing else is standard parts. Just send a ship to pick them up. Each unit takes about 210XL units of cargo each.”

[Ban Danna] “I’ll have two Mercury’s here to pick them up. Keep up the good work Josh we need a break.”
As Ban Danna boarded his ship and left Josh had the missile unit moved from the HQ to Fortress Rocks missile department. Josh returned to his office and back to work and catching up again before the next tour of the planet.
Sherry had settled in and started gathering info on the Teladi to build a profile to better understand why a extremely rich Teladi wanted to finish out his life in Argon Space then give it all away when he dies.
After hours of searching and getting nowhere Sherry went to ask Josh for help. “Josh I been trying to put together a profile on the Teladi before he gets here and all I been able to find out is general information.”
[Josh] “I’ll see what I can do lets go eat lunch while the search is running.”
As the two returned from lunch to find a more accurate account of the rich Teladi. He had started out as a freelance trader and quickly turned to the lure of making credit’s the dishonest way. After years of drug running, slaving and killing whoever stood in his way the Teladi had made quite a fortune.

Having quite a few dishonest dealings with Director Moa the two decided to climb up the ladder and into Teladi Government. Using there connections in the criminal world to do there dirty work and killings the two climbed quickly to the top amassing great wealth along the way. As Moa sought after and obtained a Drectors position. The Teladi desired a seat on the Company Board of Directors and got his placement after a untimely death of one of its members.

Later own he started a family by marring a wealthy widow and having two children. Things went well untill his unruly past caught up with him. While on a family trip his ship was blown up by a bomb killing his wife and children and seriously injuring him making in impossible for him to ever have children.

After a violent and brutal search he found his enemy who after three days of torture named all the conspirators behind his murder attempt. Not long after the disappearance of all who were involved with the murder attempt Director Moa was attacked in a similar manner.

[Josh] “That’s it Sherry! He found out Director Moa was involved somehow and tried to take her out. I did some work for Moa and she is a ruthless killer that would sell her own children to get what she wants.
He’s tired of it all and wants out Teladi Space and away from Director Moa. Who will sooner or later kill him or he’ll kill her.”
[Sherry] “Tell me about your dealings with Directoe Moa.”
[Josh] “I can’t it’s classified. But I can tell you to stay away from her. She’s the kind of person I warned you about she would kill you just to hurt me.”
[Sherry] “I’ve had dealings with her before she was very friendly to me.”
[Josh] “Was your dealings with Moa right before your ship was captured by the Dragon?”
[Sherry] “Yes! Do you think she had something to do with what happened to me?”
[Josh] “Did everything go her way?”
[Sherry] “Of course not we had to compromise on both sides to come to an agreement.”
[Josh] “Did it cause her to lose credits?”
[Sherry] “Yes but! [Sherry stopped for a minute as her face went all red with anger.] I never thought!”
[Josh] “Don’t get all excited lets see if there any connections first. Sarah search to see if there is any connection between the Dragon and Moa leading to Sherry‘s kidnapping.”

Sherry was very upset as a tear ran down her cheek. Josh sat down beside her and tried to calm her down.
After a while Sherry had settled down until Sarah reported. “There is no binding proof. But the Director did sent a coded message that was intercepted by one of the Dragons men. Who met up with another member of the clan who went straight to the Dragon. The man that intercepted the message was killed in the destruction of the Pirate Station in Ceo’s Buckzoid the other was killed in the rescue of the boys and Sherry. And the Dragon died after being tortured by a Split Family Monarch.”

As Josh held Sherry he thought about how dangerous a web Moa had weaved for herself devouring everyone who touched it. And how he barely escaped being killed while trying to escape to another sector. Moa most likely held a special place in her web just for Josh having escaped her trap once.

One thing Josh had learned about the minds of evil people they never forgive or forget they just wait for the right moment to seek revenge. And having felled before made it worse because it hurt there overconfident pride making them more cunning and devious in there plans.

[Josh] “Sarah I want you to monitor Director Moa. I consider her to be a threat to Myself and Sherry.”
[Sherry] “Do you think she will try anything?” Josh thought of how to answer such a question.
[Josh] “We don’t have any evidence she did anything wrong. Sarah will monitor the Director if she so much as burps I’ll know about it.”
[Sherry] “Isn’t that illegal to do?” [Josh smiled saying.] “Do what?”
