I can continue or mumble on how odd Marcus is, but without Tenlar I dont really know how the conversation with his guy will go.
and honestly, I had hard time following the story on the other side,
perhaps it's a good time for you guys to do a summary of things 'so far'.
Maybe Marcus can contribute, maybe not.

As far as Gencore/C3/Semper Vigilans goes, it's gone a bit like this:
Gencore decided that enough's enough, with regards to increasing pirate attacks on Gencore transports. The situation got so bad that Admiral Korak himself went out in the company flagship to see what was going on.
This gave C3 an opportunity - with Korak away and security chief Kardrin distracted by Pirate activity, they could perform some mischief. They employed Semper Vigilans to steal plans for a superweapon they'd caught wind of Gencore developing. SV didn't know what the weapon was, or they probably wouldn't have accepted the contract.
Korak received the news of the theft while away fighting pirates, and called a conference of his higher-ranking associates. He explained the origins of the stolen weapon. After an attack of conscience, SV gets in touch with Gencore, offering help in returning or destroying the plans before C3 can do any damage. Gencore start an investigation into SV, and retrieves the original artifact from a secret base in the middle of an asteroid field.
Gencore accepts SV's offer, probably to keep some idea of what SV was actually doing.
C3 goes on a bit of an insane megalomaniacal rant about ruling the universe.
That's about it, I think... there's the dealings between Carter and Gencore as well, but they're a bit easier to keep a track of I think.

I just PM'd him. Not sure when he'll get around to replying, though.
I agree, Adrian could very well be in C3's pocket. I don't know about Marcus, though. He seems a little too... freelance? I guess it's possible he could be, though.
I mean, C3 will happily screw Gencore over if it gets them further up the economic ladder.

I am not sure who Adrian works for. I understood that the pirates that used to be in Adrian's crew are now involved in this bigger plot somehow.SOTS wrote:I just PM'd him. Not sure when he'll get around to replying, though.

Marcus is definitely freelance. Which can be a both good and bad thing for anyone working with him.
The good part being - he is not restricted by much to get a job done if a good payout is on the table.
The bad part... is the same thing.
Any kind of short term / temporary jobs will be perfect for Marcus.

though when he is not around, his other contacts in Aladna and Danna's can forward a message
will see if Tenlar's people have an offer first

looks like we hit an age old problem of missing players
so I've been thinking of a character that will be more involved with your companies. Marcus eventually will move on, if he doesn’t get in contact with Tenlar's people, but for now
I have ideas that range from lonely pirate (yet another), to hired assassin(s), mercenaries, a warlord (and a crew for M2), a military commander of (M2 patrol force), and last but not least, an actual Xenon ship (the hardest one to work with).
thoughts?
If you guys dont mind, we could do something a bit different with some of those characters. Instead of turning into another character study, we could have more than one player aboard that new faction/ship/group.
(obviously the missing player problem would cripple that crew too)
I also would suggest having the 'last' chapter in mind. Doesn’t meant that we have to wrap it up, but would be nice if things actually conclude with something, as opposed to descending into a dead thread.
'Wrapping' things up doesn’t also mean that we'd not continue.

C3 would certainly be in touch with people like that, especially if they thought they could do it and get away with it.
SV probably wouldn't. lol
I like the idea, it sounds good to me. So, I'd be happy to collaborate =] Although, if it's C3 + new 'baddies' + Tenlar's people stealing his stuff, AJK's gonna end up feeling like we're gangning up on him!
Clearly serves him right for being the DM

Okay. You know we all LOVE Gencore, right? I mean, Semper Vigilans is most *definitely* on your side. No hard feelings after Achilles, eh?
:hopeful smile:
lol.
PS - Your diabolical laugh likely has nothing on my normal one

good point about Gencore.
choice number one then
1. Crew of a Carrier.
An M1 class ship with a few fighters onboard, possibly privately owned or part of the privately owned military (think - sort of Roman military).
Crew (not in specific order):
Mostly military background / career military.
Captain, Executive officer, Pilots, Navigators, Radio, Fighter Pilots, Fighter Pilot Leader(s), Mechanics, Support Personal.
Connection to overall story:
captain had received a classified mission (wouldnt be known to all crew, that is). Part of mission (the un-classified part) could be to patrol sectors and/or investigate pirate activity.
The mission of the ship doesnt necessarily have to be known to other parts of military, politicians and etc of the particular colony/state.
Being part of smaller military force I'd think this kinda of thing could be possible.
Crew, as I suggested could be made of number of players.
If you guys think it can fly then
I'd give it to you to fill in who are the missions coming from, and what are they.
If you dont mind I'll take on the Captain.
Others, that I'd suggest to take: Exo, Pilot(s), other officers
If idea is no good, I will move on, and think of something else
---
about Marcus: his allegiance is not yet determined. Nor I am planning on abandoning him; though he'll have nothing to do at all with that new group.
