fiksal wrote:so how many ships will Marcus see there? and how detectable are the mines?
normally a Dragon would pick some of them up a few kms away
eh... well, inside the minesphere there is Cossack One and Walse and Walkure flights, so that tallies eight Novas (Vanguards and Raiders) and one Osprey. All kitted, but all now damaged. Other than that, your average day's sector traffic.
The mines won't be visible to a gravidar until you're quite close (2 clicks or so...) but you might find it odd to see a handful of ships just sitting there in formation, doing nothing

If you think you might end up on the wrong side of the Cossack's plasma guns, you might consider throwing in your lot with T'ach R'tte and the rest of Nibelung Flight... it would give you some wingmen and would give them a decent flagship ^^ though that would mean that you would, at least in a secondhand sort of way, be in the employ of the Baron. Your call.
EDIT (again for Fiksal)

Just read your post, yup, doesn't look like you want to be Adrian's friend if you wanted to throw in your lot with T'ach, I'd actually let you take command of him and the rest of Nibelung. They're scurvy dogs like yourself
FYI: Resonant dosent know who either of you are yet, has a pretty good idea what has happened to you (I.E. someone got trapped in a minefield) Plus, the two rockets launched at the transport don't have to hit, and are a lot more powerful (Aimed to disable or at least discourage) while the two at the next Silkworm are mossies.
You can shape this pretty much anyway you want now, the missiles can hit or they can't, but I obviously don't want the Cossack to explode.

Roger that. ^^
BTW, Adrian's expression in the middle of all this =
Unfortunately Marcus has no clue who's who there and thinks it’s a lonely military ship vs a pirate missile boat. So he had to pick his targets using an ancient technique of… flipping a coin

I actually flipped a coin just now too

Nah, I would have had a hard time matching your elegant discription. A word though: While she would have no problems shooting someone she connsidered a threat, she most certainly wouldn't be one to stand by and allow injustice to happen, nor take any pleasure in causing suffering (But she wouldn't be particularly troubled by it either)

Fair enough ^^
And that's what I gathered about her anyway, so your description did paint her picture quite accurately as well
I'll get a chapter done soon. Gardna won't really come into the fore until Gencore gets back to him. It'll probably be more 'run of the mill' stuff until then.

more importantly, if there's any loot...
don don donnnnn!
Aaah, well in that case- there's no loot or freighter to be found. It's right mysterious.

Marcus is open to negotiations with that other group... if such chance will arise. His is no leader, yet, and just tries to make himself known. Plus there's a possibility that his earlier actions may have consequences.
So Marcus won't mind working for someone else. Then there's the man with the gold watch, who may or may not 'step up'... (if we ever get that far)
...damn.... I only have one 'main' faction - I promise...

Posted! Now you have to decide if to run (Dragon is still faster then the lot of us), surrender or go down fighting. The Resonant's sensors are temporarily blinded, so you'd have a chance to at least get headed in the opposite direction before they saw you again.

underestimating my Dragon a little bit, eh?
nonetheless, I can roll with that
Gimli wrote:Let the Orcs come as thick as summer-moths round a candle!
Ahhh, well in that case... Dantus does succeed in escaping, and he's probably somewhere in Nopileos right now. If you were, as you say, open to negotiations, you'd probably want to speak with him... you could plant a listening device on my ship or the Resonant first, though, so there could be a more plausible reason for you to be seeking him out... that or I could engineer some sort of circumstance that would give you and Nibelung flight (or maybe you and Adrian) a bit of shared backstory. your call.
I'm thinking the mob boss you took down... local pirate syndicate? The man in the gold watch could either be another lackey of the Pirate King... that would put you in the favor of the Baron automatically.
