oumpf, my fault
on my german keyboard, the "del"-button is a "," so it wasn't clear to me...

Hi,

soirry I have not been able to get back to you... I have been gone dealing with RL issues... I have been able to play some with the model viewer to try and find the problem and I have been able to confirm it... it IS the extra ships I added using Cycrows installer tool.

If I run X3, patched up with full XTM and Ashleys Fabs installed, the model viewer works just fine.. real nice in fact.

But once I add any additional ships, (I like the Prometheus, Deadelus and F302 from Stargate and the USS Missouri battleship and Corsair fighter someone just released) then the viewer craps out. If I remove them, it works fine again.

To try it for yourself, just use Cycrows installer and install some additional ships (probably best to use the same I do) and you will see exactly what takes place.

Let me know if you have any questions and again sorry for my absense.

Malakie
Take it light.....

@THE_BIG_FISH:Leo
I looked at your tships file & everything seems fine, but :
Just found out that having more than one set of cat/dat files in your mods directory
will cause that empty ship list, so if you have more than one set there then try moving any unselected/unused ones
to a new subdirectory of mods, this would be a work around till I find out why.
(possibly some left-in code from the standalone viewer that analyses all mods in that directory).

Hi again Malakie, hope the RL thing is sortable :
I'll make a copy of XTM X3 and try what you just suggested,
I've been a bit wary of plugin manager doing things automatically up til now,
if it's already got an x3 directory in mind, so I haven't tested it directly like I really should have...see what I can find out tomorrow

ah thanks i will try that out.

thanks :)

Edit:

well i have good news and bad news, good news: it seem the list problem was too many cat/cat's in the mods directory bad news: now when i try to use it my game crashes due to a runtime error :headbang:

The viewer itself works fine for me, but unfortunately, it utterly nukes the sector--graphically speaking. As was mentioned, everything is reduced to glow points.

Short of that, the viewer is great.

That's a first,
oh well, nothing's perfect

What graphic-card (GF8600?) / operating-system do you use ?

Must make a concerted effort to get back to this...

OK, no Vista, but an GF8 series card,
looking back thru the posts it seems MJALowe did have a very similar prob. with a GF8800,
could you try
http://www.Exogenesis.co.uk/X3_InGame_M ... weTest.exe
(which was a special version that had certain bits of code removed)
It might work OK ....

unsure if its related atm, but my game crashed when I got attacked by pirates with this installed--boom :D

Otherwise; I could not get it to work, and I noticed that I had another Xmodelviewer hotkey option in my hotkey interface options on first start, +1 on second start.

Uninstalled for now--will try again later though 8)

Ah yes, the multiple HK entries has happened to me as well. I think I have 3 now. No crashes though.

Crash was resolved to be a script conflict elsewhere; just happened to occur at the same time

Is there a way (after uninstalling) to remove all the extra duplicate hotkey entries in the controls area for the "model viewer"? I think it is up to around 15 or more now, and it's highly annoying. Thanks.

Hmm, having a bit of a problem seeing how to remove a hotkey from a saved game,
I've put a question out to the general community to see if
a more experienced scripter can help.

Yes, I wish the commands would go away because they conflict with several others.

Oooh,
I forgot to amend the upload to the fixed version (i.e no multiple hotkeys),
This in-game util completely went out of my mind.

Think I'd better do this tonight!
(won't help previous installs though - sorry about that)

OK, now the download has been updated to 1.2.0.3 = minor script update.

There should no longer be multiple entries for the hotkey 'Model Viewer'
