I've been useing an X52 sence I spilled Coke on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Then I looked for a new game while I was at it and found the X3<love it >

The stick and buttons are Very customizable. It can be a little overwhelming when you have this many buttons at first, but like others I only need to touch the Keys when I actulay have to type something. You even have the option of useing a Thumb nub on the throttle as the mouse < it works very well also once you get the hang of it.>

Personaly I think MS was Daft to kill there Sidewinder line of Joys! Best and most comfortable stick I ever had was a SW Persiction Pro. I really wanted to buy a Force Feedback Pro but ther all gone now.

so to end my ramble I'd go with a Logitech 3D Pro or the X52 Depending on how many Bells and whistles you want... both have lots of buttons for fast access to things but for me personaly the X52 has 3 hat switches... makes it much easier to fly while in a menu looking at the new Caps and kills you've racked up

Aye...i used a Logitech Xtreme 3D Pro, very nice joystick.
Coming back to X3 tho...from 2 years of playing WOW...i thought i'd treat myself to an X-52 pro and i must say...it was definately worth it.

Since I am left-handed, I cannot use the Saitek X52 or the CH Products 200-571 Fighterstick. Besides, it seems some people are having issues with the X52 anyway. Therefore I am looking for a good, sturdy joystick with plenty of buttons and twist control for the rudders. I may decide to buy feet peddles later.

Suggestions are appreciated. Thanx.

No twist control and possibly not as many buttons as you'd prefer, but you could consider the CH Flightstick Pro. It uses an ambidextrous design, and I've always found CH sticks to be well built and accurate with just the right amount of spring tension (for me, at least).

If you have any local stores with joysticks on display, I'd give a few of them a feel and see if any appeal to you. A few years ago when I decided to upgrade from an old 2 button CH Flightstick, I brought home a a Logitech (can't remember the model) and a Saitek Cyborg evo. Neither joystick ended up being my cup of tea, so to speak. I returned both and placed an order for a CH Combatstick 568. Before placing the order I was a bit uncertain about buying a joystick without feeling it first or without a local return policy, but after receiving it, I found that it exceeded my expectations.

The OP wants to buy a new joystick...not going to be easy for him to buy a Microsoft Sidewinder considering they stopped making them years ago!

Yes they stopped making them, but the fact that you need to stump up around 40 GBP or 100 USD to get a ForceFeeback 2 second hand speaks volumes for the build quality and the regard that many hold for these sticks.

I may need to get one to replace the model 1 I own, now that the gameport is pretty much history ...
