What is it:
BenCo Industries has created the ultimate ware handling, storage and transport technology. With this technology any large ship ie: TL, TS, M1, M2, M6, M7 can now store virtually an unlimited amount of wares within their cargo hold. Then, instantly teleport these wares to any TL, TS, M1, M2, M6, M7 ship, anywhere in the Universe. For instance, a Boron SF TS can now store 196 million Energy Cells etc.
To explain this new technology in greater detail then. The method uses a standard "Transporter Device", which de-moleculorizes the wares stored in a ships cargo hold and then encodes the molecular instruction data set into the Transporter Devices "Pattern Buffer". This data rather than being sent out into space, is stored onto a data storage cube, commonly called a "container". The container now contains the molecular instruction data set, which can itself be "Teleported" into the cargo hold of another ship anywhere in the Universe. Then, the "container" can be "used" by another "Transporter Device" to re-moleculorized the wares from the molecular instruction data set contained within the "container".
Given that a "container" only takes up 1 unit volume of cargo space and you can store an entire ships cargo load onto a single "container" you get this: Boron SF TS = 14000 units (energy cells, lets say) put that cargo into a "container" of 1 unit. Now you have 13999 left of free cargo space and 1 unit of "Container" onboard. Keep going, 14,000 X 14,000 = 196,000,000 units of available cargo space for that class of ship. Wares are placed into "containers" by ware type, so if one of your ship's has lets say, 500 Bofu, 1000 Clothe Rimes, 125 Meatsteak Cahoonas, etc. and you press the "Create Container" button, you will have 3 "containers" on board and an empty cargo hold. Now, you can Teleport one container at a time to any ship within the Universe. You can Teleport these containers one by one over to the destination ship/s.
Safety Features:
If a ship's cargo bay is 1/2 full lets say, and you try to "Use a Container" (re-moleculorize) a container that has more ware volume than will fit into your cargo hold, then you will get an error message. This is a safety protocal to prevent injury and loss of ware. Also, a TL class ship can containorize entire Factories and Stations as well, so for example, a Mammoth with a cargo hold capacity of 60,000 units can now store/transport 60,000 stations in it's cargo hold. Also, any installed wares like lasers/shields/missiles will not be containorized. But, if you have other kinds of missiles onboard that are not installed, then these will be containorized. Sorry, can't help that. Also, don't worry, BenCo has all the safety protocals in place, ie: you can teleport a container containing a small factory over to a Boron SF TS, but the Boron ship won't be able to "Use" the container (re-moleculorize) it. All of these ships can carry up to XL cargo class so there is no problem with ware class conflicts between them.
Using the Technology:
Methods or Approaches to using this technology. As the containers themselves are not distingishable from the other containers, there is no way (currently) to select a particular "container" for teleport. It uses a "Last-In - First-Out" inventory method and will teleport the last container created to the other ship, first. Given that, you might want to set up ships that could be used for Bulk Storage and give them names to reflect what they are storing. Ie: a Boron TS with 50 million units of "Ore" containers, should be named "Boron Ore Warehouse" or something.
Also, for resupply of your Equipment Docks, you could use a ship named "Equipment Dock Resupplier ###". So, let's say you own a "closed loop Complex" that produces all sorts of Weapons/Shields/Ammo etc. You might want to place a small cheap Mercury TS ship named "Equipment Dock Resupplier ###" beside each one of your Equipment Docks. Then from your Complex you transfer wares onto a TL, then just containorize the wares and teleport the "containers" over to the other ships near your various Equipment Docks. Same deal with Trading Docks and other Factories could benefit too. It might also be a good idea to keep the number of ware units placed into a container lower than you might want say 1000 units per container, that way there would be no problem with a receiver ship "Use"ing it or (re-moleculorize)ing it. Or, you might want to adopt the policy whereby only one size or type of ship is used ie: only use Boron (14000) SF TS. I am sure you can find all sorts of uses for this technology and ways to implement it into your game.
Three new Ship Command slots are used: "Create Container", "Use Container", "Teleport Container".
These new commands will appear within the PIRACY menu command group. Piracy slots are the only ones left available to use, so there you have it. Kicks EGOSOFT in the ASS for not using a dynamically assigned command slot approach to game design.

Wow, that looks great !! I love the idea
Does this mean that I will be able to hold as many stations as I want with my Elephant using that technology ?
That would put an end to my endless "go to shipyard - drop 2 stations - return to shipyard etc ..." !
By the way, what does it require to be used ? A transporter device ? An additionnal software to buy ?
Will try this today, and will tell you tomorrow what I think about it.
Well, first Override software, then Benco operative, then Station autotrade, and now this !!!
Only great scripts for now

Where will you stop ?

If brute force doesn't solve your problems, then you aren't using enough

No, it doesn't do that. Each container is independant with only one type of ware in it. The Teleporter scans the wares in your cargo hold and then places the molecular structure data set into it's Pattern Buffer. Then the data from the Pattern Buffer is stored into what is called a "Container". If you had 5 kinds of or types of wares in your Cargo Hold and hit the "Create Containers" button, you would get 5 1 unit containers. One container for each ware type. Then if you reload your cargo bay and did it again you would have say 10 containers on and on. So, no it does not "Recurse".Termight wrote:So can this recurse? Ie, if I have a container, and then containerize something else will the new container have the old container within it?
I would hope not, then we could have unlimited cargo space

Yes I know what you mean. They really are cutting edge and push the envelope of what can be done don't they. Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, it wasn't that long ago, when the Transporter was introduced into the X3 game, everyone said it was nothing but a cheat. Then there was the Jumpdrive, all hell broke loose and people where once again crying foul. Then there was all this new MK3 autotraders and all sorts of cheats. Really cutting edge stuff that pushed the envelope of technology and what could be done with the X games.Star_Raider15 wrote:no offence ben, but imo ur scripts are nearly cheats...

Hi Ben2006,
I like the script so far - but I did change it to work on an M3, as my personal ship ( I spend most of my time trading ) is an LX Luxury Cruiser with a 2 billion cargo bay - I still manage to fill it sometimes. Well I can't miss those fantastic bargains available by bartering.. This does give me a little bit more room......
As regards cheat/cutting edge - well I am a "reformed" pirate - just that the reform didn't take very well ... I take all the edge that I can, that's just good business sense - and helps make me a rich(er) man.. by the way to help make me richer, please use my scripts..... [advertising pays]

Transporter and jumpdrive were actually introduced in X-tension. And I don't remember many huge outcries of peple shouting 'cheat!' back then. And MK3 trade was introduced in X2, and while it is true that quite a few people complained about u-traders being money making machines the advantages of the script were well balanced by the initial high costs and the occasional loss of the odd trader.Ben2006 wrote:Yes I know what you mean. Hi Jimmy Jazz,
yes, I know. I was just being coy. I guess the point that I was trying to make was that scripts made today have an impact on the opinions of tomorrows users. Some are springboards towards ideas that become tomorrows scripts and some are just forgotten by the wayside. I just find it amusing how many people are looking for solutions to various frustrations or problems and then when someone comes up with a solution, there is a percentage of blacksmiths that cry foul. Perhaps the solution presented as is todayare not as clean and tidy as they could be, but they are starting points for future developments. Some scripts are presented in the purest form of a technology and could/should be toned down, modified or deluted down to more acceptable levels. But hey, I am just an old man trying to have some fun in my last days and want to forget about all the painful things that has happened in my life. I am not a Game Developer or even a good programmer. Maybe something good will come of my efforts or maybe it won't. Some things are winners while the majority of things are losers. That's life, that's the way it goes. Have a good day. Jimmy Jazz. Good gaming to you.

Hmm. Why the workaround with using freighters?
With one freighter docked in each station you just eliminated the actual function of freighters because they never need to fly anywhere.
Would it not be more effective to directly teleport from factory to factory instead, selling to AI factories or buying resources for your own via transporter gizmo?
If installing the superteleportergizmo to a factory costs a million, thats about what you pay for an equipped TS so no issue there.
Now if it would automatically sell the factories products and buy the needed resources, that would be a winner because it would make a boatload of advanced and often complicated freighter scripts completely obsolete.

Ben2006,
I just wanted to split some hair, sorry for that. Any script that someone writes in his/her spare time is a great one and I think it is great you invested so much efforts and time into your scripts. And as someone said, if you don't like a script don't use it but obviously lots of people like your script.. So in that spirit Ben: Keep up the great work
