As long as you pay for the shipping online stores generally don't care which part of the planet you are on.

Wow, the box art looks very nice. You are tempted to buy this version just for the sake of that cool looking dvd case. :D

Now, I'm interested to know if this game is really awarded as the GOTY 2007 or if it is nominated or is it just an unofficial 'award' at all?

nice!

I bought a 'Game of the Year Edition' version a couple of months ago for my collection. The cover art work on mine is pretty much the same deal as that shown in the picture minus the text about a 2007 bonus.

I got mine from GAME in the UK, the cover has 'Exclusive to GAME' on it, next to the Bala Gi mission text, so I'm guessing it wasn't a large re-release. This seems to be a major re-release over the whole of Europe?

Go to www.game.co.uk/ and search for 'x3' and you get a couple of different versions. The one I got isn't actually on their site for some reason, possibly a sneaky update to the re-release while they were still pressing the DVDs.

Is IMP’s cockpit mod going to be signed off by Ego or will the game still be tagged as modified if you install it?

Now that is a really good question as I would love to have cockpits back in my game but am loathe to add an unauthorised script!

The cockpit mod will remain "semi-official", so available for download from here but still unsigned. The "modified" tag is hardly intrusive, so I don't really see what the big issue is.

Semi - official kind of sounds like a cop out suggesting ES can't be bothered testing this one and so it could be buggy, use at your own risk! I don't like risks of that nature. Even my unmodified version being a typical PC game crashes on occasion I don't want to risk increasing the frequency.

Semi - official, what kind of term is that anyway, either its official or its not IMO!

Yes, anything unsigned is for use at your own risk, and no, Egosoft are not going to spend valuable development time testing mods. That said, the cockpit mod does affect the game in known and limited ways, so the chances of it, in itself, being the cause of in-game problems are deemed to be low.

If you are bothered by the term "semi-official", by which I simply meant that it was available for download from here rather than from some fan-site, then feel free to call it unofficial. No-one is forcing you to call it by a particular name, any more than they are forcing you to use it.

The publishers decide what gets released, not Egosoft. And since the publisher with the rights to X-BTF and X-T is not the same as the publisher with the rights to X2 and X3, a combined release is highly unlikely to say the least.

Thanks CBJ.

Why is Imp’s mod included on the GOTY edition if its an unsigned mod? A pointless inclusion when its here for free download! Guess the publisher will get the credit for that one again!

Quote CBJ:

‘The "modified" tag is hardly intrusive, so I don't really see what the big issue is.’

This old chestnut…I really don’t see why you feel the need to make that comment as you know it has been raised many times before! Its simple some people like a clean game and others are happy with the Mod tag! It’s a matter of personal choice just as you see no issue with it many do have an issue with it. If there are no issues with mods why is a flag set in the game? Maybe there should be two flags one for unofficial mods/cheats/buggy and one for semi-official acceptable mods/not cheats/Maybe buggy.

Cans and worms my friend.

P.S. Does the publisher have the rights to Imps Mod and other forum content?

Humm maybe the publishers feel this game would be better with a cockpit view and this is their attempt to remedy the lack of cockpits in the released game. Cunning buggers these publishers eh.

The publishers included the Bonus Pack and the cockpit mod in the GOTY edition simply because some people like to have everything on disk rather than having to download it, and the GOTY edition was the ideal opportunity to provide that. There's nothing more cunning to it than that I'm afraid.

Having recieved this GOTY this morning, It actually included the 1.4 updated manual (in pdf format) along with the player handbook (again in pdf), and a few other useful user made tools not listed in the news article

with the exception of some of the wallpapers and the concept art video pretty much everything else is available here for download, but the fact that is is an uptodate package with all the updates in one, it's a handy backup for existing players, and a better package than the ver 2.0 release for new comers, and with a price tag less than £10 sterling its bargain

now where's my funky avatar ;)

I want these edition, but I can't buy it on amazon.com. But certainly I have an account on amazon and I thought I can buy wares from the same EU, but that isn't so. How can I get the X3 Game of the year edition in Germany?

There's been a slight delay with the avatar implementation but rest assured we're working on it. :-)

As for the availability:
we haven't been able to get any confirmation or numbers if/when we will be getting any copies for our online shop so I'm afraid I cannot provide any solid information at this point.

Ordering it from outside the UK: try amazon.co.uk (they ship to most destinations if you have a credit card - I just ordered a copy for myself ;)
But be quick! At the time I am writing this the info reads: "Only 4 left in stock--order soon (more on the way)." Also pay attention that you're getting the GOTY edition 2007, not the one from 2006, if you want the very latest version with all the bells and whistles.

I have no credit card, but amazon has the direct debit mandate of my bank account.
