Er...It looks like I forgot to mention in the 2.4.2 update notice that I re-enabled the MDs

Update: Version 2.4.2a Rebalanced now available.

++ Version 2.4.2a - Bug fix release. Also, I've completely re-worked the custom textures on the G'Quan and Nuubari.

The custom textures on the Tigerfish (aka Cheyenne) are next.

Also, the optional scripts folder - "/scripts (optional" now contains STM Race Invasions version 10.04 for DDRS.
For the DDRS Rebalanced mod:

I've updated the DL links in the first post, but for your convenience they are also included below.

Very nice...

Quick question, though... is the 'lib.setup.DDRS.xml' file no longer required?

'cause it's not in the 'Rebalanced' archive... I simply over-wrote the files currently in the 'Scripts' folder, and, it's definitely not included in 2.4.2a Rebalanced.

I'm keeping the file there for now, as library files are (usually) mandatory for certain (sets of) scripts in X3 to function properly.

Ditto, Very nice indeed. Installed for me without any hiccups, though I am curious about the above post by NeoSeether.

Is it me or have you been working on the Pirate asteroid base too?. I think this is a bit more than just a bug fix.

By the way have you any tips on completing the "Attacking pirate base with small fast ships" missions, I dont want to do anything I would consider cheating like laying a minefield at the gate they come through. I think the 'freindly' forces are more of a threat to the base with their stray shots than anything attacking. I do love the idea though, avoiding blue on blue at close range dog fighting is superb. And the threat of the base and freindly forces turning on you if you screw up is great.

Nice work! I do have a problem tho, with the krait. It is transparent (I can see the cockpit from underneath). Also the ship bump in the station when undocking. It is as if the station doesn't "see" the upper part of the ship. Oh, and no docking in the krait is allowed, it doesn't even appear as a docking option in the lil docking map.

I installed rebalanced . 2a on the rebalanced .2. Could that be a conflict of some sort, or a bad installation?

Nho,

Did you own the Krait before updating to 2.4.2a? If so, you will need to take it through a jump so that X3 can re-create it using the the new ship model and specifications.

I just spawned a Krait in a clean install of 2.4.2a, and it looks OK...and I can dock a freighter.

EDIT: I just realized that you are running Rebalanced. I went and spawned a Krait in Rebalanced 2.4.2a, and it is visible, and works fine...except for the docking. I updated TShips in Leveled, but must have forgot to do the update on Rebalanced.

I'll do a quick update to fix that, but won't be changing the version number. The archive will indicate that it contains the fixed Krait...but I suspect not everyone will want to do a fresh download just to get the docking to work on the Krait.

I'll post here when the fix is ready for download.

Sorry for the hassle...

alt3rn1ty,
try intercepting the ships outside the secotr with the pirate base. I usually get them a couple sectors away so that if I miss one, the cleanup is easier.

OK...for those who just can't go without being able to dock a fighter to the Krait, and are willing to do a complete download...here are the links:

Hi Deadlyda & Red Spot, think I have another small problem for you. Im running the 2.4.2a KraitFixed rebalanced. Problem: After completing the mission for the Firefly, buying 5 of them at the Boron station, kitting them out in whatever the station has, then give them orders to dock at another station.... they just sit at the station you bought them from. The orders have registered but they just stay there Until you move your own ship OOS. Then they start their journey.

Its no biggy, but theres obviously something wrong there.

Yeah...I'm aware of the OOS bug. I keep meaning to look into it, but something always comes up and takes precedence. I'll tray and see if I can't do something different with the docking facilities.

Hi DeadlyDa, does your ships have unique cockpits or do we have to use the cockpit mod?

Thx,

ORIOLE,

I've never bothered with cockpits in DDRS.

In my old SSG mods for X2 I had implemented some custom cockpits (like for the Tie ships from Star Wars). However, I was one of the early beta testers for X3 prior to it's release, and got used to flying without all the screen clutter.

I also recognize that others might call it "eye candy"...but as they say, "one man's trash is another man's treasure" :D

There was a great deal of dialog among the initial beta testers about cockpits...it got quite "emotional" at one point. However it became very clear during the discussion that a large majority preferred not having cockpits...which was convenient, since Egosoft had already decided that there would be no cockpits in standard X3.

In X2, the design of the cockpits matched the design of the ships, so at least there was "visual" consistency. However, creating a custom cockpit takes quite a bit of time and effort, and I suspect that Egosoft simply did not want to make that kind of investment required to create all new cockpits for the X3 ship models.

The problem is that you cannot simply turn cockpits "off & on", it requires modifications to the X3 configuration files (TShips, at a minimum)...so you either have cockpits present, or you don't. I went with the majority (and my personal preference) and decided not to include the old X2 cockpits in my mod.

You cannot simply run a cockpit mod along with DDRS, as one or the other will no longer have the correct configurations files. It is, of course, possible to merge a cockpit mod with DDRS, but that is not a work effort I am prepared to take on at this time.

Sorry...not the answer you wanted to hear, I'm sure

Thanks for pointing out the fact that they both use the same configurations files.

Take care,

I am using CreaTive-SWFX-V1.1 for Patch DDRS with your mod. It is really great but I don't understand why the Flak sound is still waking up the neighbours. I thought he would have fixed it.

Would it be wise to use this little fix flak-sound mod?

ORIOLE,

Good point. While I really like the basic CreaTive SWFX sounds...the Flak sucks serious gas.

There are a number of false patches out there, and i was just looking at (listening to, actually) the replacements for the Flak that Khaak_Slayer did.

I may drop him a line, and see if he will allow me to include then in DDRS...with an appropriate credit, of course

@ DeadlyDa

Could you please send me a updated readme and the new descriptions for the ships (for both versions Leveld/Rebalanced in two seperate files) that you plan in the next installment of your mod, so that i could translate it.

THX

PS: Please send me a PM with your Email addy so that I know where to send the translated texts.

PPS: Please put all text files in a zip and send me the zip file, because my computer wont allow me to open unziped files.

Sephiroth-omega,

My email address is in my profile.

I see you are now on the DDRS site...I have bumped you into the Beta Test team, so you'll have access to the necessary information. It's probably easier if we discuss the translation over there.

I'll send the necessary files via email.

Hi DeadlyDa, I was looking at the Increased Visibility v202 (24/11/2006) mod in order to improve FPS. I read the readme file, in which the author pasted the contents of the TBackgrounds.txt textfile:

ORIOLE,

The TBackgrounds configuration file is not altered by DDRS, so you should have no problem running the increased visibility mod as a false patch.
