Hi Madboris

I have attatched version 1 and there is only one dll that is unexpected, my mouse driver, for custom buttons, i have unloaded it, and run the later versions but still it crashes. There are quite litteraly no external codecs installed on my pc.

Thanks

Hey RatPhink,

Sounds like you have likely eliminated sound codecs as a potential cause for your problem, unfortunately their are plenty of other potential causes for crashes. I would post in general tech support, but you may try to hit the check box that says something like "ignore last settings", while i think of it. Sorry that is all I got, good luck.

Hi,

If i may lean on your expertise once more, i have managed to get X3 to launch and then crash later on a few occasions and on one such occasion i attached dshow viewer to X3. 4 dll's came up as being unexpected.

1. COMDLG32.dll
2. MFPLAT.dll - something to do with mplayer 11
3. IMM32.dll
4. MSCTFIME.IME

Also my wmspmod.dll does not seem to be installed correctly since the dshow filter being used is the wma audio decoder apparently not proffered.

If you have any ideas as to the implications of these dlls or assist me in anyway regarding further understanding them i would greatly appreciate it thanks.

They likely come up as "unexpected" because their is a mouse, joystick or keyboard you use that has different files than I originally had.

They are mostly, if not all, microsoft files so I would not be concerned. The only one sticking out is MFPLAT.dll which I am unsure as to what it really does and what it is doing involved in X3.

As to wma audio decoder, does the "wmadmod.dll" show up when attaching to X3?

It didn't show up in the earlier pics you provided where the auto directshow graph is built. Or does it now show up in that graph as well?

Hi,

Wma audio decoder DMO is now showing in the graph yes, and i cannot find wmspmod in the dshow filter list, its also not in the registry, this change happened since I installed media player 11, ill try to find another codec pack that has the dll included and install it that way.

It was primarily the 4 attached files i was concerned about, ill see what i can dig up about mplat.dll.

Thanks

Well, I have not done any testing with MP11, maybe that is the file that is supposed to handle the speech now with MP11. The tool was made to support MP10 primarily, so I really don't know about the changes of MP11. You probably shouldn't mess with the individual files themselves, maybe do a mp11 reinstall if you believe that is causing your issues.

Hi,

Reinstated wmspmod.dll with a codec pack from microsoft, so the graph is now back to what it used to be

Thanks

On my latop sometimes i have slow gameplay so i tried this programm and it gave me these for files as errors,

1. COMDLG32.dll
2. MFPLAT.dll
3. IMM32.dll
4. MSCTFIME.IME

When i tried to rename them and reload X3 they where back again, so how can i get rid of them, so they won't reload no more ???

The tool simply shows what files are "unexpected", not that they are necessarily bad, just additional loaded libraries. Files show up for many reasons, like unique software/hardware on your system.

None of those particular ones should affect performance, nor do any appear to be codec related. I would look to other issues for your performance.

Ok ok, youve probably dealed with this a MILLION times, but i have it to

i got the version two patch which allows you to play without DVD (I left it at my brothers house, I think, and if your brothers anythign like mine.. well... its a gonner)

Anyways, the patch is ace, lots of new stuff, but i have the sound problem where it cuts the first 5 seconds of the sound off. Will that cool program ive heard so much about sort it? My sound was fine pre-patch, buyt then, i was using hte DVD at the same time with version 1.4

The most likely cause of this problem is indeed codecs. Check your codec list for Ulead codecs as they seem to be able to interfere somehow, even with the improved code in 1.4.x and 2.0.x that should ensure that this doesn't happen.

Ok, i got the somewhat large list of red down, but my comuters having some trouble finding the right files

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/1517/x3jg8.png

i tried turning of the file ASF ACM handler, but then every time i look at somethign in the game, i get an error message, no sound but the game continues (On a note tho, games twice as fast for killing the other files, cheers MadBoris and CBJ!!!)

Anyways, the main problem, my PC is whining about WM Speech Decoder DMO, i found the file in my C:Windows/system32 diretory, but from the picture above (5 from the top, sorry about quality and the fact its cut off, dunno why that happend), it shows it as an unknown module with unknown CLSID.

Any links to get another download of these files anyone? It'd be mucho apprecio!

Cheers y'all, your to good to me

DXDiag... sure, but, its pretty long!

[Edit - It was really long, im sure no-one wants to read how terrbiel my PC is...]

Ouch, you sure theres no way to like, clip the important bits?

Well, i assume it means something, to me, its a series of letters and numbers which roughly form pictures if i stare at it long enough...

Cheers!

Well, the problem could have something to do with having 3 different sound devices. I suggest that you disable the on-board Realtek sound chipset in the BIOS and disable the emulated modem line, then update the drivers for your SB Live! card as they are about 4½ years old. While you are doing that you could also update your 1½ year old beta graphics drivers. When you've done that then perhaps it is worth looking further at the codec issue.

Well, I was daunted by doing all that reinstallation stuff, so i looked through the past posts, and i noticed someone had the same problem, he re-installed Windows Media 10 and it worked, so I was like "Why not"

and you know what, that worked!

Do you know how satisfying it is to hear those words "On behalf of our president a Senator, the Argon federation Welcomes you aboard" when you re-load??

Well then their is always the line in the instruction that states:
Basic Pre-Requisites(Be sure these are handled before proceeding):
It is imperative that you rule out all other possible issues before proceeding to assume codec’s to be your only issue.
Use Driver Cleaner and get latest drivers for your video card and sound card.
Reinstall DirectX9c from the game CD/DVD and Media Player 10 from Microsoft.
