Hey, watching Stargate last night, I was wondering, is it possible to script/change the following, to make big ship combat better?


Increase range/targetting range of PPC's and Mass Drivers to 10km, as 2 big ships shooting each other at a km away is silly. This would also enable me to have the carrier stand off and engage while my fighters go in closer.

Change the damage of the Mass Driver, as at the mo, its great against m4/m5, and takes hours to do squat to anything bigger.


If anyone has seen the stargate earth ships engaging, then this is what I am getting at.

Nuke beaming would be fun as well, but not needed :lol:

Well, I don't bloody get it, I followed the online "how tos" and used the mod tools, and the game didn't even change.

What gives? Anyone gonna help?

Well when I rleease the latest version of me mod it will have increased weapons ranges as well as some very fun capship main gun type weapons to blast away with. I've decreased the damage of all projectile weapons slightly and balanced them more against each other like a scale starting from weakest weapon to most powerful, no more super powered ghepts lol. If you can't change the weapons stats you might try messing with shield recharge rates a bit.

Might give it, or your mod a try. I downloaded one by, god whats his name, Briuneik ??

His laser rebalance mod, makes the MD as powerful as I wanted it to be, but the range is still to short. I can now chew through lil ships with my Colossus' turrets, and if I open up all batteries I can actually do some noticable damage to bigger ships, without it taking 6 years.


Now if only I could get the range, and the computer targetting to work at around 10km for MD and PPC, then I could truly have stargate battles as such::
We trade fire, moving and firing at 10km, while the fighters from both ships engage in the middle, true stargate/starwars style. Ah yeah!

I loved the Top Gun Mod it's the only way I play X2 now. Just a few suggestions. I don't know if you saw my post in the top gun mod thread but I suggested an Imperial Super Star Destroyer, big 12km long ship that has almost invincible shields and armour unless you get 2 or more ships up against it.
I also thought tat the station wars mod sounded cool and if you could incorporate the same sort of thing with the marines that land and fight onbourd the stations when you break open the station hangars. But also if you could do this with a battle ship. That would be seriously cool.... Big cap ship of the enmy fleet just suddenly turns it's guns on them....heh heh heh. I also noticed that the shipyard you can buy in your last mod didn't seem to exist (well the shipyard in the extra scripts) I've searched all of the teladi space around Argon Prime and nothing, so if you could actually make that part of your mod... Also way to many pirate sectors. If there are going to be that many pirate sectors than they need to not have other races stations in them coose thats kind of stupid and the pirate stations need to be more in the open. But most of all more of those brilliant ships you make. More ships added in to the game... More fighters more battleships, corvettes, Caps. :)
