1.0.0.5 update

Post by Deleted User »

Thank you.

Version 1.0.0.5 now in download link in original post.

Many cap. ship turrets were wrongly rotated, OK now though.
Stats now show how many fighters can dock on cap. ships.

Help file

Post by Deleted User »

Got around to writing a help file (downloadable from link in original post).

I suspect existing users have worked it all out for themselves, but it might be worth scanning through anyway in case some things are not obvious.

Were the turrets your mistake and as now as they are in-game or are they broken in game but now show up correctly in the viewer?

Also, maybe some way to hide part of the ships stats so you can see the ones lower down?, I was trying to compare six M3s and I couldn't see the laser energy.

Nothing has changed in the game over the time from when this was started.
If you mean the change (in this program) in turret rotation on the cap. ships :?: ,
then this was an initial mis-interpretation of the scene-files on my part, it is now correct AFAIK.

I will put in some sort of scrolling in the stats window, so that all stats windows scroll together.
For the time being you could load say 8 M3s and go to the menu 'Window' and click 'Tile Vertical'.
This will show all the stats for all the ships, but leave little space for the 3D animations (you could
turn off the 2D drawing to get more of the 3D if you like).

Brilliant, I've got to go to college, so I'll post more later.

(at least this allows me to track the topic :) )

Ok, I'm back from college.

I found one minor error earlier, which was the Nova Raider's Right Wing top gunslot doesn't have the line of fire indicator.

Other than a few mistakes, its fabulous! It also makes it so much more easier to allow for selecting the right ships for my upcoming Armada :)

The reason that one of the Nova Raider guns does not 'shoot' is fairly involved, its a case of the lesser of two evils.

Without straying off-forum (I hope):
This ship's 'scene' file is the only file (in this distribution) taken from X3 v1.3 and not X3 v1.403 because
it seems the v1.403 file has the guns in the wrong place
(as it does in the 1.403 game, don't look too closely at things you don't want to see).

I could, but I really don't want to, distribute edited game files to correct this,
so I'm afraid you'll have to accept this as the only problem gun in the whole thing (unless you see any others).

If I add features like 'look out of turret port xx' then I may have to revise this position, since it was only fairly lucky that
the 1.3 file works at all with the other newer files.
Of course Egosoft may already have an official fix for this file for the next patch/expansion.

Going to look at scrolling of the stats window now ....

Program update 1.0.0.6

Post by Deleted User »

Added scrolling for stats window,
plus a wire-frame mode so that you can see all highlighted guns more easily.

If anyone downloaded the program for the first time,
between the last post 17:47 GMT and now 6:50 GMT,

you will need to re-download just the (small)
ShipsProgram_1.0.0.6.7z
or
ShipsProgram_1.0.0.6.zip
'cos I managed to miss out some files, sorry.

Hi, I just download the latest version. When I display a ship, it wobbles violently as it slowly rotates, and gobbles all my CPU. What's going on??

CPU usage: The program is running as hard as it can and is designed to use all the CPU, even if you pause the animation.
If this is problem (when paused) I could possibly reduce the response rate
of the features like 'hovering over a gun in the status bar', if this is what people want?

As for the wobbling, I've not seen this, I can't think of a cause of the top of my head. What CPU/OS/Graphic card are you using?
Did you have a previous version that did not do this?

CPU is Pentium 3.2, OS Win 2K and Nvidia 6800. I can't think of any reason either! It's like the jitter from a very noisy joystick, but I don't have a joystick plugged in. I had a quick run through Dxdiag and didn't fina any problems.

I hope I installed it right, I installed the DX9 stuff, and copied the MFC DLLs into system32 - actually I only copied one because the other was already there. Compatibilty problem perhaps?

Regards CPU, it's no biggie, just causes my music player to stall. I thought it might be related to the problem.

AlphaCentauri,

I've answered your question on the modding forum, cos its likely to get this thread moved there if I'm not careful

Nothing looks wrong with what you've got / done.
I think others users of this program have Win2000, which may be the
only thing different to PC's I've tested it on.

Is anyone else getting this wobbling ?

Well I do get a complex rotation pattern but I assume that's intended and I'm not seeing any small scale wobbling on windows 2000SP4 with a 9800pro.

The program works fine with the dlls in it's own folder.

Well, I just stop the animation and rotate with the mouse, problem solved :)

Awesome little app. Any chance you can add stations?

There is an Argon Trading station already in the download list,
this was just for comparative scale really.

I can add all the others, but I'm not sure how big the download would
be, I'll check it out and see.
