there has to be an easier way to capture the pirate ships. I have gone to get the free transport, and now im flying around, in the Argon Discover (m5) with 2 alpha impulse bay emitters and 2 beta impulse bay emitters, trying to cap pirate ships. Its not working... ive droppred like 50 of them, and they have dropped me like 50 times also. Ive tried the run up behind the pirates and get a dead lock on them and destroy almost everything right on thier butt very quickly, but evertime i hit "I" i have to go thru this long list to communicate to them to surrender. Its annoying, and when that happens i get missle comeing at me or they say they wont surrender, or both. ive also tried the long distance thing, but they only come closer, ive even waited for all but one of them to go thru a trading lane and ambush the last one before he goes thru. It just is not working. And im doing all this to try to deck out my free TP so that it can do system trading. The $600000 credit thing is really far away at the rate im going. My only sorce of income so far has been running people who seem to have "lost their ship while gambling" and peopel with "very important confrences" Plus, i dont know how they expect me to get ther there in a mezura cuz i dont know how long that is, but im doing it anyway. Any other suggestions?
God Give'ith IRS Take'ith away!

Oh god, just what I needed. Im a huge space sim fan, and freelancer and privateers were my favs. I heard this game was the killer of em all, and man did i get lost on first run through of this. A good 2 hours of figuring out what the heck to do and so on. THANK YOU!
This should get me going a bit more at least.

Ok, I just can not get a pirate ship to bail so i can cap. Ive brought most all of them down to 3-4 bars on hull with no shields and they still just come after me. This is with latest public patch btw.
Any suggestions?
Edit: Nevermind, one finally got capped. Guess its just a thing that takes some time. I had to have ended up killing around 10-15 pirates before one ejected finally.

Hey.
Great help you posted here relief. Its like a bible for us noobs
I have yet a noob question though: Is there a easy/smart way to find the gates when you enter a system. Its really annoying to fly around The Hole for about an hour trying to locate the east gate to Atreus Clouds.
Please help...!![/img]

I tend to set follow onto some of the ships in the sector, and turn seta on myself.JacobV8B wrote:Hey.

Can I fix it so my UT will not go to bad sectors? Yes, here is a script that helps, its not really cheating since you have to set satalights to good sectors and spend CR’s to get a good trade route, the script seems to be fair and evened out. Check it out here.
Call me Mr stupid but i copied the folders into my deepsiler game directory, but nothing happened? Where am i going wrong!

Just wanted to add a voice of thanks for the guide - very helpful in giving ideas
I can't remember the review that said it, but it was very accurate about X3: "This is an AWESOME game, if you can stand the week or so it takes to really "get" it"
I was sorely tempted to remove the game entirely because of the Starforce protection, but it is *really* fun
One thing missing from the guide that is a low-risk and easy money maker (unless I missed it) : Ore collecting; Shoot asteroids up to smaller chunks, collect the ore and sell it for pure profit. If you've got decent shields (3x5MJ or 3X25 MJ), you can just bump into medium sized asteroids to break em up instead of switching to your turrets from the rear.
Edit/Addition: Keep your speed to 15-20 K/sec, or you'll be using your hull instead of your shields
Also, collecting ore manually is WAY faster than using the command console "collect ore from sector" - I found that it takes about an hour or so for the automated version to collect ~100 ore, whereas doing it manually, you can get 100 ore or so in 10-20 minutes (or silicon, which is much more profitable)
Another hint: If you're going to make your early money by trading: Upgrade your cargo space; It says this in the manual, but can't be emphasized enough: More space = more money, especially in a couple of the sweet spot sectors with a few solar energy platforms and a ton of other stations: The energy price tends to go down by the time you've made the whole circuit of the sector (energy, soya beans, soya husks, etc). One word of advice on soya husks: Stations never seem to want to buy more than ~200 or so: If you're trying to make money in a single sector and don't want to leave it, don't fill up on husks, or you'll be hopping from sector to sector to unload them all (or selling them in units of 16 every two minutes, as the paranid trading stations use them up)

hi guys,
i am very new to the X universe so apologies for the noob question below...
i read many guides including relief's (great job mate tx for taking the time for doing this) but i am a bit concerned about the first station.
well, after a bit pf playing i managed to save around 3m credits and wanted to try a station just to learn how to buy, place and run them.
so i would like to start with a rimes fact for example.
the problemis when i goto the shipyard in Argon P. the station is colored red.
is it because i havent contacted the mammoth yet? when i highlight the station it doesnt say reputation rank needed on the right side of trade menu so i believe i can buy it anytime i want as long as i have the monies, right?
anyway my real question is...what else do i need? if i am correct the rimes fact needs only one resource (stott spices or something else?) so i need at least one freighter set to buy resources correct?
then i also need one extra freighter to sell my goods correct?
so is it a total of one station and 2 freighters?
can u pls help a new starter on this and when i say new i really mean it...i never played either x or x2
tx all

Okay, here goes...
If your Rimes factory needs a Stott input, and you're not going to go to the trouble of making a closed loop (trust me, they balloon out of control VERY quickly,) then yes, you need a ship to haul Stott to your Rimes Factory.
I suggest a Mercury Tanker L (you can find them at Argon Prime) or a Dolphin Superfreighter (You can find them at Kingdom's End) for all of your hauling needs. These two ships form the backbone of my UT fleet, and my Station Supply Service fleet.
Take your new freighter, stuff it to the gills with programs, homebase it to your Rimes factory, and tell it to Buy Ware for Best Price (Stott).
You can also set on the station the maximum purchase price for when NPC traders come to visit your station with a holdfull of what you want.
I woulden't try this until I'd saved up five or ten million. You don't wanna run out of cash midstream.

This is awesome. I have been playing the game for a week or two now after owning it for months. I hated it the first time I loaded and decided to give it a shot again. I find that I prefer not playing in story mode.
This is a great guide. I never thought to do many of the things that are suggested. Only thing that would make it better would be to have it in a downloadable text file.

Hi,
You can save any pages in the forums as .txt files, especially the guides.
Using IE, click on File, Save as, and then select 'save as type' dropdown list, select text.
I use this a lot for interesting info, you can only save a page at a time, just save all the requred pages as "Subject - 1.txt" etc, and stitch them together with Notepad.
