just try 'em - the cockpit structure is black but all the monitors still work, - so you still get the feeling of being surrounded by something -
feels like you're on the battle bridge - with interior lights off and windows blocking external light so you can concentrate on what's goin on outside.
in any case, - i've gotten used to it - still better than no cockpits at all.
and the lighting medium shaders provide isn't an improvement since it jumps around randomly and ends up looking more broken than the unlit pits. [/spoiler]

You can allways place the cockpit mod into the main X3 folder and rename both cat and dat files to the next available number. I've renamed mine to 06.cat and 06.dat .X-it wrote:They definitely do, and I think I'll try. Problem is I already have a 'mod-combo' installed consisting of 4 mods (less roids/no fog/no civilians/minimal hud). Does the cockpit mod conflict with any of these?
Another one bites the dust!!

Quote from X³ Manual: Farnhams Legend - Prologue
"...However, the names of the following people will remain vivid for all time:"
"*Neil Armstrong, the one who opened the door to space;"
"*CPT. Farnham, who presented the stars to mankind;"
"*Nathan R Gunn, who took them away again."
and Galaxy613 who added cockpits to X³

Ok, all the cockpits should be in... but if people want to make sure all of them are in please PM me and I'll give you the low-down on the mod, and if you still want to contiune I'll send you a link to download.
And right now I don't know which mods I will be combining this with. And the M7 mod isn't at the stage for combining.

No it's ok I fully understand the m7 mod isnt ready for this addon yet! I was just checking to see that once we have an official 1.3.1 and working cockpits, will it be included in the mod (I assume it will since Moxy already plans to use the cockpitcallback- I just thought I'd check!).
Other than that I'm gonna wait for the patch to be finalised and officially released before I download it, like I said I dont want to put extra time in on my main game then have to go back to a stored save (just incase the saves don't work). For now I can live with black cockpits (I was originally using the medium shader method to get a bit of light in, but I miss the glow too much so went for the dark bridge look!).
Oh and for the record, when X3 came out and I was playing without cockpits, I was kinda ok with it, the increased veiwing angle was certainly helpful. But after having the cockpits back in, and then trying without.....it was awful. Even with the bugged lighting model its a thousand times better with the cockpits than without! I never felt part of the universe without them, especially on the larger ships. Without cockpits it feels like you are looking at the universe, with cockpits you feel part of it all..

Does this mean you won't be posting a download link here when it's finished?Galaxy613 wrote:Ok, all the cockpits should be in... but if people want to make sure all of them are in please PM me and I'll give you the low-down on the mod, and if you still want to contiune I'll send you a link to download.

And regarding combining, that's not really necessary, as we can have several mods installed at the same time by renaming the files and putting them in the main X3 folder.

I will, but I want some people to test the mod before I release it. Just to make sure I didn't leave out anything. But I have not gotten one PM on this subject.
It's easier to make a few combines, espeically when they don't interfere with each other. I'll make a Minimal HUD combine again IF some people would PM me for testing!
