Great guide. I was getting so frustrated at not achieving anything with this that last night I sold my Buster for whatever I could get for it, and started a job cleaning the outside windows of the Terracorp Headquarters. I was making more money than I could count ! Now I feel able to buy another ship and start my space adventures once again.
Thanks for giving a beginner a new hope.

Ok sorry, am trying very hard to understand, but this chapter on transfering trader, buyer extensions isnt working for me... I am trying to follow the instructions.. can someone break this down furthur? The chapter follows:
"2) Now we have explored the local area and uncovered all stations. But before trading, you must first switch from your Buster to your Mercury. Transfer your trading system extension from the Buster to your mercury (this is your most vital tool). Also transfer your best buyer’s seller’s locators to your Mercury from your Buster. This will enable you to see prices and quantities of goods on stations as well as being able to instantly see the best place to buy or sell your good in that sector.
To do this you must first dock your buster and mercury at the same station. Then go to the station menu, landed ships freight exchange, transfer to other ship. Then once you have done that jump in the other ship by going to the pilot menu then change ships, Mercury. To use the best buyers sellers locater go to Navigation map menu, next to the universe map option, there will be locator options. Experiment with this. Note: leave your Buster in Argon prime somewhere, as you’ll be selling products here and having a ship in sector will allow you to see the price and amount currently at the local stations."
Thank you

Okay, will see what I can do. Just having bit of trouble uploading my web site. I'll post on here when I'm done.How about putting this up in PDF format for offline use!
[/quote]Ok sorry, am trying very hard to understand, but this chapter on transfering trader, buyer extensions isnt working for me... I am trying to follow the instructions.. can someone break this down furthur? The chapter follows:
Okay, first you must dock them at the same station. I'm assuming you have got this far? Now bring up the menu and click on station, then it will take you to another sub menu where you need to click on ships. Then you have a menu listing all the ships docked (the green ones are yours). Now click on the ship that you are not in (so if your in your buster click on the mercury and vice versa). Once you have done that scroll a little bit until you see the menu for freight exchange. Then once your there, it will be in a freight menu of both ships. Scroll over the thing you want to transfer and then move the arrow keys left or right depending on which side is transfer to other ship. Then the a bar will move, which is where you press eneter and it will speak and tell you what has been transfered.
If you still don't understand I'll see if I can explain it abit better![]()

Yes I have been able to dock both ships at the same station.
Thank you the above wording, it makes more sense to me. So I take it you can then transfer back as well?
I believe that I did make the transfer from buster to mercury at some point last night, but then I went to look for the buyers and sellers in the navigation map I didnt see anything in the view panel other than the stations ships and gate objects. So I figured that I didnt make the transfer..
Question.. Can I buy those extensions at some point for any ship? Or will I need to transfer like that always?
Thanks again!

The best buy and best seller locators are on the Buster when you start the game. To transfer them between ships both ships need to be docked at the same station. Select the ships tab... now select the ship you are not in. Scroll down to transfer freight.... then transfer the freight or in this case the best buy/sell locators into the mercury. The keys needed to use these pieces of equipment are 5 for the best sell and 6 for the best buy.but then I went to look for the buyers and sellers in the navigation map I didnt see anything in the view panel other than the stations ships and gate objects. So I figured that I didnt make the transfer..

More questions

I have transfered my trading system ext and buyer / seller ext to my mercury succesfully, and jumped into my mecury leaving my buster docked in Argon Prime. I undocked my mercury and went to use my trading ext, but i get the message extentions not installed. I would like to know what command installs these. Also I do not have a home base yet, does that matter?
2nd question... Once in space in my mercury, and keeping in mind that the Buster is still docked , how do i issue a command to the docked buster to undock? It does not show up on the sector map.

Somehow I am getting the feeling that I need to have my first factory set up and declare it as my homebase before I can use the trading ext or issue commands to a docked ship..
Thank you for yor continued support

Thank you for the entrusion.. I noticed that you only said to transfer the buyer / seller locaters.. I also transfered the Trading extensions as well, but could not transfer them back? should I ONLY transfer from the Buster the Best buy/sell locators?The best buy and best seller locators are on the Buster when you start the game. To transfer them between ships both ships need to be docked at the same station. Select the ships tab... now select the ship you are not in. Scroll down to transfer freight.... then transfer the freight or in this case the best buy/sell locators into the mercury. Hope this helps. for intruding.

what you are suggesting simply isn't working. I promise I am following all your suggestions to the"T". But when I launch out to space and hit 5 or 6 a box comes up and says "Trading Extensions are not installed". Yes I deffinately transfered the Trading Extensions to the mercury along with best buy / sell locators. Obviously you guys have gotten past this what you all seem to be a simple step, but , and I know I'm not the only one, it aint working here. Now I am using the United States software would that make a difference?
I hope you all do not give up on me because if you can get me on track, you will be getting alot of others on track as well , I am sure of that.

@Thorvall
There are 4 types of Trading software in the game they are as follows.
Trading System Extension. This piece allows you to get price information from stations with out needing to dock at the station.
Trade Command Software Mk1. This piece allows ships that are homebased at one of your stations to buy one listed ware for that station. E>G. If you own a Wheat Farm this piece of software will allow a ship to buy energy cells. It cannot be used by the players piloted ship.
Trade Command Software Mk2. This piece allows one of your ships that is homebased at one of your stations to sell the ware. If we presume it is based at the above wheat farm. The ship with this software installed would be able to sell the wheat. It cannot be used by the players piloted ship.
Trade Command Software Mk3. This piece of software will the allow the ship installed with it to be a sector trader (ST). It will automatically buy and sell wares in the sector you instruct it to trade in. It can only be installed on M3's,TS's and TP class ships. The ship gains experience levels, when it reaches level 8 it can become a Universal Trader (UT). It cannot be used by the players piloted ship.
As Apocholypse has stated the best buy/best sell locators are useful to the player but not essential. They are also not needed by the players homebased ship.
I hope this helps you.

and I do not mean this meanly, neither of you have told me HOW TO INSTALL the extensions since that is what the message is saying I need to do. I guess I am not making my question clear enough.
I understand what the items mean, but I can not use the items.. tha game tells me they are NOT INSTALLED.

@JimmiG
Could be Parinid Territory is where you gotta go if it's missles, can't say for certain though because you an't told me which missles
@Thorval, you say it keeps telling you there uninstalled. I think you going the wrong way about it, as these extensions e.g. Trading system extension only has passive use and no actual function like an ecliptic projector for instance. Check the Cargo bay of your mercury for these extensions, if there in there all is well

They're thunderbolt missiles. I'm not allowed to dock at paranid stations. Guess I'll just revert to a savegame before I bought them. It's just that after spending days fedex-ing cheap energy cells and silicon wafers for nothing I figured I'd try buying something more expensive and try to sell and then I came across some place that was fully stocked with those so they were really cheap. So I bought about 500k worth of them. A misstake, apparently. Any other suggestions for something profitable to trade with?
