First off, love this game really enjoying it but onto the niggles :)

UI

1. With autopilot on switching mouse mode (RMB) diactivates the autopilot, like an option to stop this.

2. Nice to see numbers being formatted, could the trading bar amounts (left & right hand side) be formatted too.

3. What happend to the monitor layout options, and for that matter the 2nd monitor?

4. More information, keep pressing 'I' when over a station in the shipyard expecting to see a screen similar to the ships.

5. The best buys/sells option does not respond to shortcut (ship info screen for OOS satalite)

Startup

1. Humble trader's starting merc is overtunned max sterr 13.62% (iirc) out of 10.20%(iirc)


Can't think of anymore at the moment, must get back to X3...

Speaking of the HUDs find some way to optimize it as there are many reports of people doubling their fps by mearly turning it off, theres no way that UI elements should kill fps by that much for any reason.

This is either a bug or the Paranid TS I just started firing at has a clocking device (lol). All you can see are its engines....

(I have a screenshot but no where to host it...let me know if anyone wants to)

Bulletin Board (Additional):

Consider the idea of having bulletin board message sorting by the type of message:
Possibly along the lines of...

General News (Including disasters, science background stuff, etc.)
Empire Specific News
Combat Missions
Trade Missions
Passenger Missions

Also, it may be worth considering changing the BB missions system so that it always displays at least one of each type of BB message (On trading stations at least).

Just a couple from me.....

1. Larger ships i.e. argon mammoth seem to have very poor pathfinding skills, at worst they will get totally confused and just in a straight line and then turn around and come back again instead of say docking with a shipyard..... very frustrating.

2. Complexe's - might be wrong on this one..... but.....
When you combine say a SPP,Crystal Fab, Cahoona Bakery, Cattle ranch, you only get the sell-able items listed as Crystals and Cahoona, the problem is if I want to open this loop and be able to sell e-cells i cannot do this, it also will not let my freighters sell e-cells as the game believes these only to be intermediate resources not products. You should be able to specify what you want to sell as an end product not have the game presume for you.

Also.....
Pricing, the pricing system in complex's is a tad silly to..... they are linked, which means cahoona's appear in the intermediate resources and also the final end product, if you change one price you actually change both, they should be completely independant.

I'd like a bit more information on various things in game. For instance the System Override Software. Bought it, fiddled about, no clue how to use it. Maybe the object description should have some information on how to use some of these items.

Also features like the player HQ. No one is sure if it's in the game or not. Bulletin board adverts such as "New to Argon space, the Charybdis class corporate headquarters! Makes managing your far flung corporate empire a breeze! Only Moguls with 150,000,000 credits for investment need apply." would give people something to aim for, which in my opinion is vital in an open ended game, and would make it clear whether HQs are in the game or not.

I've removed this one from the list. Why? I docked at a trading station, without SETA, and paid close attention to where you dock. You fly into one of three docking slots in the large middle bay. When you undock, however, you are launched from one of the six smaller bays (three on each side of the main bay) so obviously your ship is being moved to a launch bay then fired out.

No I'm affraid this game is going to be shelved for a while till all the bugs are ironed out.
Totally dislike the flight view makes me feel like 3rd pesron shooter and as previously mentioned too much detail. not required when in combat.
graphic are exelellent BUT if i want a full view I'll do what we did in X2 F3.
I feel without the cockpits its like flying around in your spacesuit with a big gun under your arm :lol:
the realisum of being onboard a large battleship has been totally lost.
NO think this game has been rushed throu and not properly thought out.
Well I'm sticking with my X2 anyway
Sorry Egosoft but I'm not impressed you have gone too far on graphics detail and know lost the enforces of realism to the actual gameplay.

Here's a another minor annoyance-

When ordering a ship to 'move to position' you can indicate the desired position you want it to move to with either the keyboard or clicking with the mouse. HOWEVER Clicking with the mouse only works if you've moved the cursor with the keyboard first. If you havn't then the mouse click doesn't register.

The ability to select what should appear in the HUD is imperative. All the little icons that chase themselves around the outer edges of the screen drop framerate dramatically. As a test try turning on and off the HUD display in a heavily populated area.
If we could select whether to show these small icons, or not, would help a lot. Please see my post in the Tech help forum.

Some really good suggestions here for Patch 1.3....let's hope Egosoft devs read this post!

Just one thing to add...not sure if it has been said...but when you dock at a Pirate Base, in order to buy things you need to have a certain ranking...e.g. with Argons it is like 'Federation Ally'....on Pirates it just says e.g. 'Pirate Read Text 82' etc....so can this get fixed?

I also don't seem to have any ranking with the Pirates 'race', is there one?

*Major Request For Patch 1.3 - Fix Bulletin Boards*!

Hi all,

I've had the game for several days now since Thursday and am really enjoying it as I did with X2. While I think the game shouldn't have been released for another month or two, I don't want to start another boring discussion about this. What is done is done, and all credit to Egosoft getting Patch 1.2. (which fixed most all of the problems) out so soon.

There are some good suggestions on Patch 1.3 elsewhere on the forum - hopefully Egosoft will read them and add the main ones in.

I have a major request on an issue that I think must be fixed in Patch 1.3:

The Problem:

Bulletin Boards - Missions:

Basically one of my major annoyances in X2 (which I loved) was that bulletin boards basically had the same bland stories ('Argon Captain crushed by Argnu herd etc etc etc etc etc') and not enough MISSIONS/QUESTS

....I had hoped this would be fixed in X3, but they don't seem to have really looked into this in their development, and I'd be interested as to why.

The problem is that there simply aren't enough quests/missions to do. I was playing last night and flew to countless stations and the missions available to me were between 0 and 2, and not all were applicable (which is fine in that as the manual states, a good idea is to have an M5/TS ship following you for those time-busting/large transport missions)

Suggestion: Splitting the Bulletin Board:

Why can't the bulletin board be split into two? - 1. For News (most of which is irrelevant quite frankly and has no impact on the game) and 2. Missions - there should be at least TEN available, like there were in FREELANCER (years ago, take a hint ;)) because otherwise I waste hours when I actually want to transport some rare item/protect a convey/do a time-busting M5 'race' mission as I travel to station after station only to not get any missions.

I'm sure most of you will agree with me on this...there has to be more Bulletin Board Missions! The other suggestions for Patch 1.3 are all well and good, but I think instead of concentrating on 'solving memory leaks' etc - when most people seem to run their game fine with Patch 1.2. - they just need to change/re-design this integral section of the game.

I am more of a fighter/explorer in nature rather than a trader/empire builder (I guess most players of X3 are like me - given time-limits and other commitments in their lives) but want to be able to dock at a station and take a few trading missions to boost my trade ranking. It is a real waste of time docking at stations only to get the same old news stories and no missions...


Conclusion/Summary:

I'm not asking much, it should be easy enough for the developers to just increase the number of BB missions in a Patch - if possible to divide the bulletin board into two as I have suggested above. I am pretty amazed this was overlooked when X3 was being made, in the sense it is one of the major improvements that could be made from X2. I'm guessing it wasn't overlooked but actively NOT changed as the developers thought it was okay to leave it as it is. If so, WHY??? Some developer or moderator input here would be useful.

What do YOU all think? Otherwise I love the game but think this one addition would dramatically improve it more than most other suggestions for Patch 1.3...

Ran across a graphical error on the Boron passenger shuttle M... where the blue afterburner effects are placed way behind ship, realy looks odd, please fix that too :)

I have 190k screenshoot of it but nowhere to host it if it would help.

I agree with this too. What I really liked about playing Frontier: First Encounters years ago were the BBS missions. It was pretty cool having a career as an assassin that way and I was hoping that this was an area that X3 could improve on. If anything X3 seems to have less BBS missions than X2, which is disappointing in the extreme.

Must admit, I was hoping to see more missions in X3. I'd like to see better organisation in the BBS system, it seems a little under developed.

Yes, I really don't understand the reasoning behind the Egosoft developers leaving the Bulletin Board as it is.

It really shouldn't be too difficult to increase the number of missions available and organise the BB into two sections - one for news and one for missions. Freelancer etc had this sorted out years ago.

Some developer/moderator input please?

I agree with you guys. Did you guys try to wait at the BBS for 1 or 2 min and few more post will more offten then not pop up and very offten there are missions there. BBS works just like X2 is see almost no difference at all...sadly.
