You can buy the modem and filters from Nildram when you order, it will give you a choice.
I bought my ADSL modem and filters separately from http://www.dslsource.co.uk.
Here is the link to the exact modem that you should get http://www.dslsource.co.uk/stpci.asp?idShop=1
I have that modem, and I use XP and it works perfectly.
It's better than any USB modem, because its PCI, and thus it uses less CPU power.
Some USB modems (ADSL and Cable) are known not to work with all motherboards as sometimes they requier more power on the USB bus than the motherboard can provide.
You have there the perfect option.
Whatever you do dont stick with 56k V92. It's jsut as crap as 56k V90, the only difference is the upload is faster.
56k V90= down:56.6k up 33.6k
56k V92= down:56.6k up 44k
And most ISPs don't support V92, so it will be running at V90.
Your choice.
I've had ADSL now for 3 months and I have never looked back.

suffice to say, my V90 is in a box, I WILL give it away (probably to mother to replace crudy internal job), as I have no intention of ever going back to snail web, snobish I know but its like the diff between using a 14inch monochrome monitor and switching up to a 19 inch digital job.
Tiscali, don't be put off by my experiences, read up on providers, I think Pipex are the Biz, but not nescesserily what you want, AOL, is horrific for online gaming (compared to anyone else). but are reliable (I hear).
as for linking a 2nd comp to net via ADSL modem, make sure the modem alows that 1st not all ADSL modem will allow it (something to do with the drivers themselves preventing it,, ie usually from companies who sell ADSL routers as well,, conincidence,,, hmmmm maybe

One word...PIPEX.
Connected in 4 day's, free modem, free connection, only had to buy microfilter for £19, free delivery.
Been with them for about 6 month's...not one problem.
I did have a problem with IE, not liking the modem, so I phoned the very cheap helpline....they phoned me back, and spent about an hour on the phone playing with lot's of thing's. turned out the problem was actually my Popup killer in the end. But they where very helpful.
All for £23 a month

I don't know much about router or networking, it's my Achiles Heel really.Avis wrote:as for linking a 2nd comp to net via ADSL modem, make sure the modem alows that 1st not all ADSL modem will allow it (something to do with the drivers themselves preventing it,, ie usually from companies who sell ADSL routers as well,, conincidence,,, hmmmm maybeInimbrium wrote: I've had ADSL now for 3 months and I have never looked back.)
So, you might need to purchase a router instead of the modem I showed you. Nildram provide multiple IPs if you are wiling to pay for em.
The £23 per month package includes a Dynamic IP, and for £7 more per month you can upgrade to a Static IP. I didn't, because it's not important. I host an FTP server, games server and FServ server and the dynamic IP has never got in the way.

Pipex has a dynamic IP, but since I joined my IP add hasn't changed once, a friend ho has been on Pipex for over 5 months has never had his IP change either.. a good and bad thing.
Pipex deal when I joined was abit of upfront.
£50 set up fee (but I wont have to pay a termination fee)
£80 for ADSL modem (Zoom ADSL from Dixons)
£23.44 per month
the initail £130 seems hefty but not knowing if I was going to be buying a house within the next year I realy didn't want a termination fee so it worked out ok for me.
reagarding Pipex,
IF you buy your modem from them you will be on within 4 to 5 days.
IF you buy your own 2 weeks
BUT I stuck my modem in a week early and everything was on anyway
