My X3 Reunion story playing 3 days for now

Post by dmc2005 »

I have te game for 5 days now and i can say its very addictive. I played yesterday from 9 in the morning to 0:00 in the night. :)

First of all this is my first time playing such a game, never played a space game like thise before. (x-wing 10 years ago :) )

Second thing is i got 2 computer next to eachother so i play on one thing and on the other computer i have the sector map (http://www.geocities.com/sephirosu/x3/demand.jpg)

My first day
I started easy wich is recommended to all beginners. So here i am in my buster in space wow. I did the first mission and after that i went further on my own. The first thing i did was selling the buster and upgrading the mercury. Installed a lot of upgrades (realized later that i upgraded a lot of crap that i didn't need). So whats next i thaught lets do some exploring.
In the beginning i was very frustated about this game. But after some hours playing pieces come together. Since i have a computer next to me i wrote all data for every sector down, what resources they have and what they need and what the prices are to have a clue what costs stuff. In the beginning this can be verry usefull to get an idea of the prices. Later in the game with the best buying an seller locater i throwed the list away.

After 4 hours of i started trading silicon wafers and ore in Herron's nebula to Aragorn prime wich is a good start for all beginners its an easy money maker. Then i found that fuel distillery that can make a lot of proffits but found out that it is illigal. :) When you buy this fuel take a look first at the trading station if it needs fuel cause otherwise you will go through sectors with illigal stuff in the cargo bay.

After 6 hours of playing i started to really like the game. Money making was still hard but soon found out about nav satelites. This thing can be bought in aragorn prime and be sold in the same sector in the trading center and it makes good profits.

Second day
More pieces fall togethor now. I'm beginning to realize how more rank i get more specific things i may buy.
In the beginning your buying stuff like engerycells for 14 cr and after a while your buying fighter drones that are 1000 times more expensive but give you much much more profits.
The first day i went from 400.000 to 600.000 the second day in 3 hours from 600.000 to 1.3 milion.

So what do i do with this money. I heard something on the forums about universe traders. (Ships you buy that trade for you in the sectors)
That looked nice to me. So i went to the shipyard in aragorn prime and buyed 2 mercuries. Then i sended them to the equipment dock to fill them with the upgrades. Then i ordered my other ships to follow me to home of light to Terracorp HeadQuarters where you can get the mk3 upgrade and the jumpdrive. I realized that this stuff is very expensive and i ended up with a bank account of 805 cr :) oops. Luckely i still had some fighter drones in my bay that turned my bank account to 80,000.
And it was time to let my ships go. Sector trading. In the first time i found this very annoying cause every 5 min they went on standby but after an hour playing they did fine.

day 3
I went to sleep sunday morning at 5:00 cause i went to the bar. Woke up 3 hours later 8:00 to turn on my computer for x3 reunion :)
Played a lot of hours and my money went from 150.000 to 750.000
First thing i did was ordering 1 of my ships to get to cloudbase southwest (i think) to get the 25MW shield so it would turn i a universal trader.
now it was time for my first factory :) took the x3 manual and followed the instructions. I read in the forums about a good location to put delexian wheat factory in herron's nebula. I commed the big mammoth in aragorn prime to do all the stuff to get my factery.
Later in herron's nebula my factory arrives woow. And bang there it is my own factery. That feels great.
In the beginning it was a little bit frustating how to handle the factory but soon i found out i needed my other ship to buy wares for this factory.
I transfered the half of my credits to the factory 100,000 cause i din't have much anymore.
So i went back trading. That went very fast to 800,000 again.
Now it was time for some big stuff i thought. Somewhere in the borrons sector i found a very good buy. Iron disrupters wow they cost around 250.000 but i could buy them at the factory for 210.000. 40,000 profit each hmm. And here begins one of the many big mistakes :) i bought 4 of them so my bank account was zero. So now lets sell them.. ehmm sell them. The only race that wants them are the boron hmm. And every equipment dock i visit is full of iron disrupters.
Hmm nice.. after this mistake i went exploring every boron sector to found an equipment dock in need of iron disrupters.
0:00 in the night i found myself great beef in the very very south of the map. And manage to sell 1 iron disrupter. My factory made about 400,000 now and it was time for some sleep.

And tonight i return back to x3 reunion to find again a place to sell my iron disrupter.

My tips and found on this forum

Trading tips

- At your first playing hours write down all factory product data like products and resources and there prices. It will give fast give you a better idea about the prices and where some products can be found.

- Get the trading system extension with this ext you can view all factory data in a sector without docking with them.

- Gaining more rank, more rank will give you more products to buy with more profit

- A factory with a full load of products are always cheap products.

- nav sats, these nav sats can be bought at a location and most of the times sold in the same sector with good profits.

- Later on if found buy a best buying selling locater with this you can access the 5 and 6 keys to view the products with most profit in a sector

- Satelites, dropping an satelite in a sector will give you information from all factories when your not there.

- Sector/universal traders can trade for you. But make sure you have a good bank account with 1 milion or higher they can buy bigger stuff with bigger profits.

- Always be carefull with high profit products there could be a reason why they are cheap at that moment like in my case with iron disrupters. Everyone already has that product and no one wants one. But if you have the money just buy it and you can sell it later.

Misc things

Jump drivep, with the jumpdrive you can go to each sector you have in your map by pressing the shift-j key but keep in mind you always need enough energy cells.
LOCATION: This jump drive can be bouth at the terracorp hq in home of light.

MK3 SOFTWARE with this sofware you can make a ship an sector/universal trader.
LOCATION: terracorp hq in home of light.

25MW Shields - To be an universal trader the ship need a high level and 25mw shields.
LOCATION: Cloudbase South-East Medium Shield Production Facility

Sleep, eat and drink
Dont forget to drink and eat when you're playing. you will soon found yourself dryed out hungry and full of sleep while playing this game.

Some of my facts

I didn't fire one laser in free space except in th first mission

I'm in space for 3 days without any shields except for my universal trader.

And a little question for the end

1. Since the beginning of the game i'm thinking about placing an solar plant in aragorn prime since there's a lot of factories there. Or would it be better to place the solar plant attached to my wheat factory in herron's nebula?

2. Where can i view the trade level of my sector/universal traders

3. does anybody wants to buy my ion disrupters for 250,000 a piece :)

Nice one. First thing I did was crash out, reload then notice all the things that were ported directly from X2 and all the missing features/bugs.

Started the mission and got as far as mission 2 before being bored with it. Captain Staying Power to the rescue!

Then I came on here and bitched about it for a few days. Actually, I still have lots of mileage left there so I'll be enjoying that for a while. :P

Then I continued playing and found I was enjoying it anyway. Started it on Normal and now own a whole 3 ships. One of which is still trapped in Brennan's Triumph without shields.

Got about half a million in creds and explored 60 sectors. Akeela's Beacon...for shame Egosoft, for shame :(

Nice work.

2) Does it not show in the ship info? Like in the pilots name?

3) Are you sure that the EQ docks that do not carry items still would not buy them? For example, the Argon docks do not store IonDs, but maybe they will buy (and dump) anyway?

very nice :D
i've always seemed to have a problem with getting started :/
i'll find a nice trade route(though its probably only 5k profit per run, and some of these runs are LOONG)then it'll go dry after 3 runs..
i'll find another it'll do the same, then it'll dry up and i won't be able to find anymore
this usually means waiting half an hour and getting the perfect opportunity to sell the stuffs
i either resort to cheating or modding myself an easy start
yet the ore miner start is still not working too well(VERRY slooow ship, which calls for fine tuning the engine speed things)
i admire people like you who pick the game up and have a booming buisness in 3 days of playing
i've been playing about a year without no success O_O

1) SPP need crystals, which can be in short supply. If you want to complex one up then I would advise going the whole hog and trying to make a closed loop around a silicon mine. You need a Mine, Xtal fabs, Food fabs and the SPP. Then set up a CAG to sell the excess Silicon, Food and Energy. If you want a standalone one then I'd put it nearer CBNW or Red Light - ISTR there are Crystal Fabs in Kingdom's End, Red Light, CBSW and so on. Try to identify a sector that is equidistant from as many of these thing as possible as they empty fast and fill slow. Might by worth having a Silicon mine or two nearby to artificially boost their production!
2) Go to the map by pressing . (or Property by pressing R) and select the ship. In the menu you see the pilots name right at the top - to the right of that there should be a number (which is his level).
3) Any EQ dock which doesn't sell an item will buy an infinite number of them from you. For example I once sold 35 GPPC to an EQ dock (usually they can only stock 2!) that didn't list it. Terracorp HQ will also buy any equipment IIRC.

Couple of other little comments - Medium shields can also be found in Paranid Prime and the far southern Boron lands. Well, spaces. It might be handy to know that for when you run that factory out!!

Enjoy the trade empire!!

If you like the trading, then may I recommend Teladi space. :D

The silly profits you can make from something as simple as a super freighter full of Sunflowers is staggering. In my game, the sectors around Ianamus Zura (esp. 18 Billion) seems to always get overlooked by the AL, so try dumping EC there, and going from there.

Teladi space does have it's risks though.
(Might be time to invest in some shields, maybe an aPAC in the turret.)

I seem to remember finding cheap 25Mj shields from Ceo's Sprite which is also Teladi Space. Or Split Equipment Docks.

Ah the Split... They'll sell you factories for Mass Drivers, Ammo, Silkworms, T-Bolt, bPBE, 25Mj, oh, and 1Gj, GPPC, and aFLAK.

Everything you need to equip fleet of Pythons and Mambas...
Or make a mint...

Or both! :D

R.

EDIT: Memory not what it used to be... Fixed glaring error, hopefully before anyone spotted :D.

I've only had it for a week too... Probably not good playing when I have an assessment at end of month but fah! I'm having so much fun!

My little empire is starting nicely. Started a normal storyline mode and I have 3 ships of my very own (Pirate Buster (Gorgeous beast), Mercury remote trader just about to become a sector trader and a Dolphin Hauler). I used to have a pretty Octopus Raider but he dissapeared off my scanners jetting back from the rim... *sniffs* He will be missed.

lolz
i don't whether this is just the xtended mod or something but i was once flying in teladi space and came across a big pirate fleet;
a pirate galleon(big capital class carrier)
a pirate corvette/frigate/light capital class which i forgot the name of
varied pirate fighters, about 9-17(mostly m5 and weak m4's)
luckily, thanks to the xtended mods cool custom starts
i had an awesome teladi kea equipped to the teeth with some awesome weapons and about half my massive fleet behind me
it consisted of something like this;
a couple of elephants
a deadly corvette or 2
some other cap ship
10-20 fighters and about another 20 docked
some other Transport ships(yes, they were armed and ready to fight)
then i had the other half of my fleet which was a little smaller than this half ready to back me up...
so i sent everything i had in the sector to attack
the fireworks were pretty until i accidentally barged in to the highly damaged galleon and blew myself up
but it looked awesome while it lasted..

If you Cap a ship or happen to own a ship you wont to sell you could all way's load that ship up with all your Ion Dis and sell the ship. This way you will make a lot more money for that ship, as you are still selling what you have on the ship too.
dmc2005 wrote:- Always be carefull with high profit products there could be a reason why they are cheap at that moment like in my case with iron disrupters. Everyone already has that product and no one wants one. But if you have the money just buy it and you can sell it later
I know what you mean. I for get what it was but I found a nice ware to sell went to the station to sell all happy thinking wow going to make a lot of money here and was about to hit the OK button to sell but just seen in time the price change and if I had hit the OK button would have lost out. So I had my trader stay in station and went off to do other stuff in game. Keeping a eye on that station price till it was back up high again and sold, at same time keeping a eye out for where else I can sell it.

Having Nav Sat's in each Sector you trade in help's a lot as your able to see what's in that sector and able to click on to each factories for info.

One thing every one should do when playing the game and that's walk away from your computer for 15 mins now and then. If your not happy about something in game that upsetting you, like maybe your trader not making that money you hope for right away, or you just done the same mission a few time's and still can't do it (only happen to me when I 1st started the game), taking a time out to cool off help's.
While your taking time out from game keep it running and sit in a station or park your ship your in a good way from any thing and turn on your SETA as your trader will stil be trading. (Some don.t like the idea off walking away from computer and leaving SETA on but that's down to you as it's your game and 9 time's out of 10 they use that any way).

The trouble with leaving your game on SETA, and I guess this is a good thread to mention it, is that after about an hour realtime (that is only 6 minutes on 10x SETA) your trade and combat ranks will slowly begin to fall. Unless you are there putting commands into the ship you will end up losing out. You don't normally notice this as SETA goes on and off as you go through gates and so on - but you can spot this happening if you are doing a Pandora Survey.

It may not be a huge issue but since the money you make from personal missions depends on rank it means that after a spot of SETA you might find you have to head back out there and re-earn your previous rank to get that sweet 10M Assassination mission.

another thing that helps is looking up guides that show you where abandoned ships are :) easy money to get started off. Factories are the key to success. I still dont see advantage of looping them though

Equipment docks that don't list Ion Disruptors in their normal list of wares will also buy them in groups of 2, and as pointed out above, they'll buy unlimited numbers. So next time you see such a deal, take it! Any high-priced weapon or shield that you see for sale in a fully-stocked factory will make you lots of profitsssss if you have the reputation to buy it. :D
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

I'll give you a nice tip in case you didn't know, I just found out that re-loading can reset stations, like for example a shipyard doesn't have the L ship or out of stock, re load until it does, it seems it randomly has stock. Just found this out today, I saw that on no faqs, not like I read them all tho.

I've tried this before, but quickly became frustrated and bored. Do you happen to know the 'average' reload times that will accomplish this? Thanks.

Well that's not entirely true.

Example:
1. Take a Boron Superfreighter (14000 Units freight bay!), jump to Unholy Descent and dock at the Soyfarm L, which will have full stock of Soja Beens at 12 Cr. Buy as many as you can get.
2. Jump to Friars Retreat, dock at the Sojery L and sell all the Beens for (usually) 41 Cr.!!

13.500 x 41 = 553.500 Cr.
13.500 x 12 = 162.000 Cr.
------------------------------
Profit = 391.500 Cr.

You can do all this using remote commands of course. (The Dolfin S. is very slow!!!)

why bother going to that trouble? I've always found it's quicker to buy the M variant and get a ship to buy some shields (and using a transporter device) I can use the Remote Freight Transfer command (Bonus Pack). You can pick the shields up cheap in Boron sectors far south and in Ceos Sprite sometimes CBSE. Get the supply TS loaded up and moved to position at the shipyard, buy your new ship, tell it to move to position at the shipyard, remote freight transfer and done. I always use this method when the Ls are out if stock and use it to fit most of a cap ships stuff (except jumpdrives, restricted).

Odd today on the Boron shipyard I got every ship full on 3 consecutive tries, most of the time is full too. on the one in argon prime its less often, probably bad luck, the load times are not bad, around what it takes to get a new sector(like 15 seconds to re-load). Id say around 5 or less reloads to get what you want.

Yeaaaah...thats a good advice too, but I recomend you to find the "Free Ships" scatered around the sectors.I founded 6 and sold them all now i have 3.9 mil cr, a nice Yaki Raijin Raider (m4) and a Univerce trader piloting a Mercury tanker.I find trading kinda boring and caping ships is more fun, but you decide...Oh..one more thing! Its called ARGON not Aragorn :D  LotR < X3 Reunion
