Me and a friend are just about to start a game of x2 on 2 pc's in the same room at the same time, just to try to compete as to who can do most fastest(though to stop anyone running ahead too fast we do the missions together, just try to build ourselves up most beforehand).
has anyone else tryed anything like this out and did your games end up much different?
this is as close as we get till xonline anyways
cheers

Well i found a lot of information about x universe online but nothing about LAN ( Loacal area network)
What i meant by LAN is the game could support for let say 4 players to hock up to a a host ( 1 of the player) and play the game togheter in same universe.
Not over the internet but if some friends gather togheter in a lan they could put thier comp togheter and play the game.

I've fought in many places, and seen war's thousand faces.

Me and my younger brother were considering doing a similar-ish thing. Given that we both use my computer (he's not old enough to afford one that could run X2) we thought we'd try both using the same save-games, and so effectively building our empires in the same universe. We'd keep our posessions seperate, store our money in one of our factories when we save the game. Obviously our trade/combat ranks couldn't be kept seperate, but we could effectively trade with each-others factories.
Sadly, we never got around to putting the idea into practice as we were both too fond of the empires we'd built up in our seperate save-games by then. However, a similar idea could be put into practice between people by emailing each-other the save games and taking turns to play. Just as long as everyone abides by the rules and doesn't steal ships or money from the other players.
