Awsome :)

But got one problem if the effects in them new screenies there are final. The Paranid ship gun muzzle flashes are too large, they should really be about half the size as it will look alot better and fit in with the size of the ship. At the mo they look like there touching the hull and if it were real then the ship would be firing at its hull all the time and blow itself up lol. The shot i refer to is

shot

Like the new sharper and more detailed asteroids and especially there much bigger sizes. Lets hope theres a variety of sizes from small (non minable) to giant ones which i think are ones we see.

To be honest the beta test time frame is small if the beta testing is nearing its candidit stage now as for such a complex game its gona be hard to fully try every situation and every game element fully. Thats just me tho with that thought.

Also if the engines colours are final tehn the paranid have same engine tech (must be) to argon for them to have same engine effect and colour. Must have ran out of time to do unique ones then.

Good luck egosoft for the beta test and everything. :)

EDIT -

Has anyone seen the gates in them shots, they have no structure just a whirly effect (same whirly effect as x2 from the looks of the shot to me) and visable side guidence lights.

screenie with gate in which is suposable final version acording to diary

Amen :D

And the asteroids look at lot better now, especially in this This shot

Hopefully now we will get proper asteroid fields that it would take real skill to get a cap ship through :D

Everyone make sure you look long and hard at those screen shots. Look for yourself to find out why.

My comments:
With X3 in the final stages of development, Egosoft's Greg Kingston and Mark "Toastie" Wilson explain in this edition of our designer diaries the workings of the ongoing beta test. X3 is scheduled to ship next month.
So 2006 Q3 eh? Doesn't sound like it.

Also, by the sounds of it the gate models are staying like that. Though they most likely added more detail to them and made them bigger. Also it sounds like X3 is almost done.

The graphics used in that interview are old. Not very, but a week or two at this stage is a long time. The gates you see are not final - evidence of changes can normally be seen in the Screenshot of the Day thread where you can see the most up to date models there - normally only a few hours or a day or so old at the most.

Does this seem a little sadistic (or should I say masochistic)?
[there are] an infinite number of possibilities or scenarios that the player can create, and they all need to be tested.

On another note, are these spps linked?

Me too ^^ I already preordered mine from GoGamer.com and are going to get a free T-Shirt and for a total of $40.80 including shipping! (Which was 5.99 for 1-3 day shipping) So it's coming to my house 1-3 days after release! I don't really care about the T-Shirt, tho if it's good I'm wearing that while I play X3 for the first time! :D
