NEWS: X²: The Threat without copy protection

We are pleased to announce that our final update for X²: The Threat will remove the copy protection mechanism from the game, allowing you to play without the CD in the drive.

Additionally this finally enables users of Windows 64bit Edition to play the game, as the W64-incompatible version of the copy protection driver is no longer required.

You can find this update in our Games -> X²: The Threat -> Downloads section.

Note that this update is only available to users who registered their copy of X²: The Threat with us! To find out more about registering your game, please take a look at our FAQ datbase and especially this article.

wow, no more waiting for x2 to check the disk , which with my scratched disk took ages, with my 2 new copys (got them with xfx graphics cards and bought 2 for sli) still took a while aswell

now its almost instant

Instant is the word, about 5 ms for me acording to my processing clock.

Now i dont have to swach it either.
{someone didn't observe the rules on signature sizes and lost their signature ;) - CBJ}

*Mr Burns Impression* Excelent, with this Patch I can play X without interruption, I can't wait to see the look on my father's face when he sees me playing the game despite the disk being absent!
A new rig is in my hands now if only there was time...

Seriously though, for anyone unsure about this, that quote was taken from a context in which the fact that it referred to "unofficial NoCDs" was implicit.

This is great! My X2 cd went missing a week or so ago. Can't for the life of me find it. Now I can play anyway! Look out, Terradine mod. :P

Couldn't resist a first post on this 1 :D

The only thing illegal is bypassing, if it's not there in the first place then we get to play how we're meant to in the 21st century (without scratchy antiques).

If you open the dl from an archiver as rar then you can unpack it. Unless you can't believe it's working? :lol: :o :twisted:

Cool, now I dont have to swap other disks all the time...
In my 2 drives:
X2
Diablo 2
and sometimes I have to switch, no more of that. Got one free now :D :thumb_up:

Does the patch do anything other than remove the copy protection and is it the starforce protection which we have in the uk or the other protection thats for the other countries?
