Xai Corporation's Personal Alarm Clock

Post by moggy2 »

Just a tiny little thing that I thought some people might find useful :)
Do you forget about things you've left running because they're taking too long? Why not send yourself a time delayed message to remind yourself with this simple piece of software

A single command is created in the custom menu which allows you to set a time delayed message after which ships controls are returned to you while the timer works in the background. An alarm sounds when the timer expires and the message is printed to the pilots log

 I could make use of a reminder that says "Warning! Your thesis is due in 14 days 16 hours 20 minutes and 25 seconds!" :P

How about a script that, after a specified time, saves your game and powers down your computer? Just a few more minutes, just one more factory then I'll go to bed...

Brand new to X2, but can already see how this would be useful ... IF I could figure out how to use it.
I assumed that it would just be in my ship's command console. It's not. So I took a quick look at the scripts (with no idea how to script) ... saw stuff about putting the clock into stations ... can the number of stations stocked with it be increased easily?? ...
I now think I need to purchase the alarm clock somewhere. But where? Do I just have to stop at every station that wells software to check for it?
I admit to being pretty clueless at to how to use scripts at this point. Sorry if this is a total newb query.
Thx in advance!! I've barely scratched the surface of X2 -- still only have the Disco -- but I'm hooked! :D

Update -- OK, it seems to be working now ... or at least it's automatically showing up in all my ships (2). Wondering now if perhaps the Script Editor needs to be activated for this script to function perhaps?? I only noticed it was there after loading a save-game which had the script-editor active ..
Also, wondering how exactly the time is figured. ...
I set it in mizuras according to the readme. According to the manual 1 mizura = 2.72 min.
However, it seems that in-game 1 mizura does NOT translate to 2.72 min real-world. Not even remotely.
So does THIS script translate accurately from mizura to real-world? I really can't tell. I tried setting a 5 mizura test alarm, but it never sent me a message. Guess I should really try with a 1 mizura test alarm if I wanna see how it translates to real-world ...
Thx!!
