About

Alpha Orbital [www.alpha-orbital.com] is primarily an info site covering the news around X: Rebirth and any future updates to the series.

Along with fresh info about the game, you can also find a full showcase of ships currently available with the appropriate info displayed.

Ship comparison tool

The X: Rebirth ship comparison tool enables you to quickly and easily compare basic stats of the ships currently available ingame.
Just select the size and the names of the ships you want to compare and get their full info!

At the moment, XR:SCT contains a database of over 90 ships with various info like ship speed and description, weapon DPS,
ship class, hull and shield strenght, materials needed for production and the estemated price... all layed out nicely so it's easy to compare up to 3 selected ships.

Since the whole site is in it's early phase - some errors are bound to happen. In that case, feel free to contact me with a short description. Also - don't be afraid to throw in your own suggestions!

Fly safe and pewpew :D

P.S. Huge thanks to SparkyCorp, Earth Ultimatum IV, Aken_Bosh and the Egosoft team for bearing with me during my naging for data

A simple yet modern design, I wish we could get something similar for the forums over here. :D

The SCT works well too, no errors at all so far. I'm excited to see how the site will look like once the early phase is over.

Nice work!

Well it is good enough for me to remove "stuff" from my favourites bar and replace it with this site .. even at this stage a lot of work has gone in, to gain relevant info so quickly must have taken some planning/skill ...
Got to agree .... Nice Work.

Nice presentation.

Did you made screenshots manually?

Do you plan to expand your site with stations?

I can offer my calculator for decorations :)

Well, i'm a huge space-junkie when it comes to games :D

If there's a space sim out there worth of playing - i probably have it already. Like I sad - it started with a simple comparison tool for Elite but i stopped playing that since it got boring.

And X is something i always go back to. Also - the whole thing was used to get my way around a new framework i'll be using at work so... why not use it here :)

I still have some screenshots to shoot (Earth Ultimatum is of great help here when it comes to screenshots) and some tiny stuff to finish with the back-end part of the app but that's about it. I just want to make sure there are no lose ends and random errors popping out through the site.

I'll gladly take any suggestions for future development!

Oh, and I know that the production info is not 100% correct at the moment. It will get fixed soon (TM).

Very nice indeed. But, is it only me or the website feels very stuttering, i mean, the animations. Maybe i need to check out my browser's gpu acceleration settings or something.

It depends on several things actually. Your GPU is one of them - so laptops with integrated GPUs will most probably have it a bit rough.

Second - it's your browser and the way it renders the scripts.

Third - the way smoothscroll (a js script) uses your mouse scroll. For example - Firefox scrolls much slower than IE and Chrome.

Then again - some sites contain bigger images in the background so that might effect the GPU and the browser's ability to render everything.

Wow! I'm going to use this... a lot...

Many thanks for putting this together!
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.

Some people never develop beyond this stage.

Truly beautiful but... (c)

The site indeed is resource-heavy. Both my CPU and GPU become quite loaded while viewing it (Firefox on Linux). But tech aside, that's amazing work, thank you for sharing!

The only thing that could be an active resource hog is the animation in the full-header part of the site like the homepage.

Do you see any difference in scrolling if you compare the news sub-site compared to the homepage?

If yes - then that's it :D

The Screenshots page also seems to add a few degrees to my GPU. News though indeed seems to let go of resources.

EDIT: for me it doesn't stutter. Just the resource monitors and fans indicate increase in load.

Is it just me, or does it look like a robot leaping forward with a battle cry? :D

The skunk always flies without cargo doors, they are shown in an open state on the docked model, it's a continuity fix in the waiting.

Great site, first one I've added to my X-Rebirth favorites folder in a long time.

Not sure if you are aware but the image in SCT for Lyranae is missing.

Thanks for sharing.
