This makes me shake my fist in anger knowing that there is treatment for hard to reach inoperable dispersed cancer, It's called Targeted alpha isotopic therapy, it involves using the patients own immune system and using radioactive particles attached to these cells, the cells find the cancer and shoot their radiation through the cancer. With minimal collateral unlike Chemo therapy and beta emitting radiation treatment...
And yet there is barely any scientific progress in this field, Even though we ALREADY know what to do and what we need to achieve that..
I hope for all the best to you total biscuit, Fight hard!

This had all.. passed me by. I've always liked TB's reviews, but tend to only look them up when there's a game coming up that I am interested in. Scarce pickings recently.
So googling off this thread I found the "opening post" for this:-

It's worth watching, both for the message, and for the overly and underly phlegmatic TB that we know and enjoy

I can't breathe.

given it was somewhere else initially, but moved to his liver, this suggests it's metastasized.
That can sometimes be held in check for a while, but it's virtually impossible to survive.
Not completelly impossible, but hard to do. Actually medication aside, attitude is a big part of it. Attatitude alone won't save you, but it really helps if your treatment has a chance of working.
My own experience with cancer patients when I was a nurse tended to be with those who were going to die, but that's the nature of hospital work, you mostly see the worst cases as inpatients.

I'm saddened, as well. TB has been more than just "another vlogger/reviewer" - He has been a very influential force on gaming and gaming media. As far as youtubers go, real people listen when he has something to say and they're not just TB fanbois, either.Flippi wrote:That's really bad news!
I am not a doctor.Although i have witnessed Cancer, i do not know if you can replace the liver with a new one. Has someone some knowledge about this?
The liver is a very miraculous organ. It's one of the few organs that can actually "grow" and replace missing tissue. Unfortunately, that attribute also makes the liver very susceptible to something like cancer and, once it has set up shop, it's very likely to continue spreading.
A liver transplant is possible, but only for a suitable candidate. If someone currently has liver cancer, they may not be considered a suitable candidate. If they get new liver, it may just end up being stricken by cancer, again.
Unfortunately, there's no magic bullet. When we hear of "survival rates", they're usually based on the number of years that people tend to "survive." And, that usually means that, more likely than not, even if one survives past that period, it's the cancer that's going to end up killing them...
I hope this doesn't happen to TB.

It's terminal. The cancer spread from his colon and as badger said has metastaized. The liver is simply the cancer that has been detected so far.

Whilst possible, it isn't nessissarily the case. Metastasis involves travel and blood vessels intended to carry nutrients from the colon go to the liver before the rest of the body. So whilst the liver is a likely first place for cancer cells to arrive and settle, it isn't definite that they will do the same elsewhere. I don't mean to downplay the significance of metastasis but detection in liver, whilst serious, doesn't nessissarily mean it has arrived elsewhere.Antilogic wrote:It's terminal. I generally check his channel once a day or so. I also watch many of his longer, collaborative, breakout sessions.Flippi wrote:Well, I would not say that i am an big fan of him. The problem is, the cancer cells likely *have* settled elsewhere and just haven't got big enough to spot yet. It's very unlikely they would use a transplant liver on someone like this for that reason--if you do the transplant, and then find the cancer's already metastatized somewhere else, it's just a huge waste of limited resources.Sparky Sparkycorp wrote:So whilst the liver is a likely first place for cancer cells to arrive and settle, it isn't definite that they will do the same elsewhere.
