Problem with mouse cursor - Steam Client issue - Now HotFix issued.
Hi, my problem currently is that everytime that I speak with a NPC the cursor resets itself to the center of the screen, constantly. At first I thought the mouse was stuck but then I see that the mouse move some pixels out when I move it, so I assume it is actually resetting to the center again. It reset back to the center again and again unless I minimize the game or turn on the Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab). Then it start moving normally again.
I have tried using old saves and uninstalling some mods but the problem persists everywhere. So I am asking here in case somebody got an answer or else.
Gonna redownload the whole game again and try to see if something was off. I will keep updated.

I am sure its not the usb, everything works fine and the this only happens when I am talking to a NPC.CBJ wrote:This sounds more like something caused by another input device, some other USB device, or possibly some game overlay software, than anything to do with the game itself.
I reinstalled the game and it still makes that problem, gonna try more solutions.

Perhaps some other USB device is sending a continuous signal that the game interprets in conversations as 'centre/lock the cursor'. Try again with all inessential USB devices unplugged.
I say that as I am not having such issues in the (vanilla) release version and latest Steam update.

Well, I use a laptop to play (connected to a keyboard and a mouse) and I disconnected everything and the problem still persists.Alan Phipps wrote:Perhaps some other USB device is sending a continuous signal that the game interprets in conversations as 'centre/lock the cursor'. I know its not the update because I played like 10+ hours on 3.61 before this happened, so I moved the egosoft folder from my documents to try everything vainilla and new and same thing happened.

I experience the same behavior after my Steam client has updated.
Since my Hardware hasn't changed i believe that Steam causes this Problem.

Damn, you on the same boat like me.
You give me an idea, gonna try to disable the overlay to see what happens, but asking to make sure, you play on a laptop or desktop?

Yeah that proves its not hardware, unless you are using the same mouse (Steelseries Rival) or keyboard (Microsoft Ergonomic Intelli Keyboard).eMYNOCK wrote:Regular Desktop PC, no Hardware Changes.
Thats why i believe it has something to do with steam.
Ok I am reinstalling Steam, and I tried putting the Overlay off and didnt help.

Tried to disable the Overlay, changed USB Port for my only USB Mouse (No Name Discounter Mouse), shut off my Printer cuz it is an USB Device too.. still present.DJ0JJ wrote:Yeah that proves its not hardware, unless you are using the same mouse (Steelseries Rival) or keyboard (Microsoft Ergonomic Intelli Keyboard).eMYNOCK wrote:Regular Desktop PC, no Hardware Changes.

I have just no idea what causes this behavior.

Edit; added dxDiag
Enjoy my lovely Diag.
Edit²:
Bahavior is following:
You Land on a Platform -> Cursor is free
You talk personally to a NPC -> Cursor will be locked
You Tab out of game or activate the overlay for a second -> Cursor is free
You talk again to a NPC -> Cursor will be locked
As said, i did not changed any drivers or hardware, only Steam Updated.

eMYNOCK:
I don't read German, but your dxdiag has a long list of errors at the end of it, which appear to be associated with the UnReal engine. Two errors recur over and over, caused by 'ShooterGame.exe' and 'KERNELBASE.dll', which is a system file of some sort. Any of that sound familiar, such as the UnReal reference? Could you have something running in the background associated with an UnReal engine game that's apparently causing problems? Perhaps the Steam update added or started some background app of some sort?

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

ShooterGame.exe is the executable for ARK Survival, an Early Access Game on Steam.
All errors relating the ShooterGame.exe and the UnReal Engine are related to ARK Survival.
I have had checked everything, all recent apps that i installed, all apps that steam installed and steam it self... it must have to do with steam because it is the last damn thing that got an update on my rusty Computer.
Edit:
I believe i found the Problem:
The locked Cursor was indeed caused by the newest Steam Client Beta.
I unsubscribed from that named Beta and the Mouse Cursor was released immediately.
Would be nice if DJ0JJ could confirm that.

I reinstalled the whole steam (and cleaned all the temp files of my pc) and it seems it made the trick, no more stuck. I can confirm I am out of any beta right now, so it could be that.eMYNOCK wrote: I believe i found the Problem:

All sorted now. Make sure the game is closed while you do the Steam bits - the update may confuse some things in RAM, so close down anything using Steam (including X:R) before you do the appropriate actions
Restart game & everything should be OK (you don't need a reboot or even logoff/logon)

Help with a mouse cursor problem
As the subject states, every time I dock into a station, my mouse cursor seems to freeze as if the borders got reduced insanely. This is a really annoying bug because I can't do a lot of things without the mouse, i.e, fly my ship. Anyone else who had this problem?

... but if you return to space from an interior with the cursor already locked then it stays locked. Once in space you can Alt/Tab out and back to clear it though.
While in in-platform menus you can use up/down and right/left to navigate options and sub-options and then press enter to select (or use the number shortcut keys). A bit messy, but just about playable.
