To get something out of a non-Skunk squad we have to either tell them to:
1. Comm ship.
2. "Join My Squad (1)".
3. Wait for relatively short chatter to end.
4. "Leave My Squad (1)"
5. Wait for relatively short chatter to end.
Since (2) and (4) are unused in that menu, I would suggest changing that to:
1. Comm ship.
2. "Leave That Squad (4)".
3. Wait for relatively short chatter to end.
4 is not as close to the related options to reduce miss-clicking.
Suggestion: Add "Leave that squad (4)" to Comm menu of squaded ships

Good suggestion Sparky - I was actually thinking the very same thing this evening when I was moving ships between various superiors. Adding them to my squad - and risking them jumping to me if I'm a bit slow - before then re-assigning them elsewhere is very clunky.
I would like to add that if they could also remove the control lockout during the reassignment chatter I'd appreciate it. Can tap "f" if sat in the skunk to skip all but Yisha's initial bit. However, if on a platform - be it station or ship - at the time, you cannot do this so you're stuck, unable to move or interact for the duration.
When you build up a fairly decent empire, the current interface for these tasks is somewhat frustrating to put it mildly

I've been thinking about the same sort of thing recently.
The approach I've been playing around with in my own menu-mod-thing is to put a "no superior" option in slot 3 of the "assign new superior menu" -- so removing a ship from their current superior is just "3-3" on the keyboard -- which could fit pretty easily into the vanilla format, too.

If you're just switching superiors, you don't have make them leave the previous squad at all... just assign the new superior and it's part of the new superior's squad (if superior is a station commander, whatever that commander decides).Scoob wrote:Good suggestion Sparky - I was actually thinking the very same thing this evening when I was moving ships between various superiors. On the other hand... i do wish for both an option to leave squad (or no superior option) and an option to temporarily command some ships while they're part of another squad... afterall I am their boss, right?

A couple of times in my previous save game (I just started a new one), I noticed a ware being left in a freighter belonging to my URV Forge (how does it have 4 capital class freighters and "small" class Gigurum and not have any trades?!?), that could be used/needed by the construction vessel (that happens to be attached to the same Forge)... but in order to transfer it, I have to force the freighter into my squad and then tell it to make the trade, before sending it BACK to the same superior. Hopefully, before it jumps sectors in an effort to get to the "new" squad... that it won't be part of for long.
