NEWS: X: Rebirth 3.50 is here!

Our latest update for X: Rebirth is now available. New features include:

• New generic missions and new upkeep missions for easier station management.
• New ships: The new Onil mining ships available in the Canteran shipyard in DeVries.
• New "Container Magnet" which helps to attract nearby collectables to the player ship.
• Easier navigation through text search field in map.
• New FXAA graphics option.

And among the many other improvements in 3.50 are:

• Improved station manager and station owned ship trade behavior.
• Improved balancing and accuracy of combat calculations when player is not present.
• Improved response of player owned stations to nearby player ships being attacked.
• Completely reworked Russian localization.
• Improved support for UI-modding and much more...

Don't forget that we also have a Free Weekend running on Steam until the 15th of March for all of our X series games, and that the very first Alpha test version of X: Rebirth for Linux will also be available through Steam Play.

can i select multiple ships to put into groups or wings yet? or do i still have to go through each and every one of them wasting a whoooooole lot of time when i trying to organize a fleet.

@Nick, you only have to do those orders once, then you can order the squad leader. You can (I think) also get all of you ships out of the sector with the shipyard in, apart from the fighters you've bought and want to wing. Then use the broadcast orders option to tell them all to take a new squad leader in one go. (I haven't tried this though, so maybe it's not implemented like that for broadcast orders yet.)

Also in this 3.50 update, you now have the ability to give commands remotely to your units when they are NOT in your squad (you no longer have to say "Join my squad" first to be able to give orders). This makes things so much easier :)

i dont see how your point is valid lol

i dont even once want to go through dozens of ships 1 by 1.... and what about fighters??? i had over 100 of them and you know what???? no! just no!!!!

and what about when you loose ships??? and you need replacements..... forget it!

its a simple feature implementation. im astonished it was never there to begin with... im no programmer but how hard could that possibily be to have multiple selections rather then 1 by 1.

No point getting angry at me dude. I agree that it's silly and better fleet control is surely an important step for them going forward. However, I'm just trying to post some solutions to your problem to help out so we can work with what we've currently got.

Perhaps try posting your concerns in a new thread, instead of hijacking the dev announcement for your rant if you want to have a discussion about this with other players where the devs will take notice.

Also, if you actually READ what I said, I actually think you can do a broadcast orders to get them all into one squad if there are no other ships you don't want in that squad hanging around in the sector with you. Maybe try that first.

sorry not angry at you, im just irritated that they not implemented simple but important features. update after updates why have they not done it yet. thats what im annoyed about.

i just trying to inform them is all. i love there work but i cant play untill they do this...

You can buy it in DeVries, Darned Hot Air zone shipyard. It's a mining ship, there are two variants (gas/bulk).

What you have described Nick was going to be my next feature request for the UI. With the 3.50 update and UI modding capabilities Egosoft have also now allowed the community to make UI feature requests, which is the first time we've been able to do that. 8)

So no its not there yet, but we are a step closer all is not lost. It should be a simple drag and drop type selection from the property page or map that is the aim.

Exactly how does this work? Is it an upgrade you need to buy, or just some new keypress?
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Just a keypress :) O by default. It will hoover up any loot inside 1km (ish) radius, or close enough to get an elipses border around it.

Hello Egosoft people. 2.5 patch is very nice. Especially improvements for the map usage. On that topic of maps and navigation, in the next patch can you PLEASE ENABLE FULL PILOT CONTROL whilst manually piloting the skunk, when the map displays are up? ie, with joystick while interacting with the map with keyboard (like we can in X3) etc.

Pilot should have full control of their ship while navigating with maps. My car does not lock the manual control of steering when using GPS! Neither do maritime vessels, or aircraft. PLEASE, PLEASE, fix this.

I'm not talking about auto pilot, I'm talking about manual pilot.

At first i tought that my battleships responding better because the defence officers adjusted to attack rather than protect....
now i see there are changes under the hood :D
They are not worthless after all. As I'm a major critics (?) of Rebirth i see now there is some progress :D
X to X3 is MENU SUPERIOR!
I think Egosoft has already worked out our doom, because Xenon AI will reach the stars! :D
