Hint:
To test the full weapons loadout on game start use the Argon Mercenary Game Start.

Change log:
Weapons repositioned and a Turret added.
Content.xml updated.
Added new version with Mission Computer Mod Compatibility.
Updated Ship Information.
Fixed Bug with Engine Upgrades at Mechanic.
Fixed Back Room of Ship.
Added New Versions with different turret setups.
Top Turrets now face forward.




Note: This is an extremely-early-early Alpha mod-cross-proof-of-concept. It may not be compatible with some mods that patch the unit_player_ship.xml and unit_player_ship_macro.xml file in their original locations, as this mod changes the index location of those files to the Katana Mod's subdirectory when loaded. A simple workaround is to add the patch line from the incompatible mod's .xml file to the .xml file located inside the Katana Mod.

Known Issues;
BUG - Engine sounds missing in some circumstances.

Compatability Issues;
Disable SkunkTurrets mod if you have it installed.
Repair Laser - Reported Incompatibility (Workaround; use the Repair Drone Mod).

Nice one :)

Couple of quick observations:

1. View is underneath hull but I guess that is for the mentioned repositioning.

2. "Albion Skunk" is mentioned in Ship Status menu (title and in General Info).

3. Game crashes when I tried to expand Upgrades within Ship Details.


Looking forward to following this cutting edge development (or "evelopment" as Rebirthians would say!) :)

I think that crash is a Beta issue (also affects the Mechanic when purchasing certain upgrades), hopefully the UI will be patched in upcoming builds.

Ok a few things worked on, changed the position and type of engine fx, as well as sorted out the position of the cockpit. Link updated.


Still have to work out the positioning and type of weapons.

@EUIV, I hope to eventually have an entirely new ship, inside and out, but this may be beyond my abilities atm (although I am learning quickly).

I'm hoping that what I have managed to do so far will inspire others to help on the project.

Downloaded it, and oh boy, it looks promising. But there's lot of work to do without doubt.

Just a thing to notice, despite looking like Katana, your ship still has the hitbox and collision box of Skunk.
Outside view camera needs to be altered aswell - if you zoom in, the camera is ghosting clipping through your ship model.

Thanks for the input EUIV. Not sure quite how to fix that yet, also the ship still has the handling characteristics of the Skunk.

I've noticed I can see the nose cone of the katana when Ren stands up from the pilot's seat, so a little more tweaking of positions is needed.

With adding weapons, I was able to add multiple weapons to the ship, but was unable to group them to fire at the same time, if anyone has any ideas on how to make this happen I would be most appreciative. I aim to have 2 MG grouped to fire together, and 4 Plasma cannons also grouped to fire together.

Mod Update;

Added Turret to the Katana.
Repositioned Weapons systems.


For more immersion use the MIS More Immersive Skunk mod as well.

Compatibility Issues;
Disable SkunkTurrets Mod if you have it installed.

Do you by chance know how to disable the movement of cockpit displays when flying?

I think this is one very interesting project! I will try it as soon as my own mods do not keep me from playing anymore.

That's cool!

Loving the feel of having a non-forward turret and the boost effect from the engines is sunglasses-tastic.

Couple of suggestions for the future:

1. Turning down the volume of the turret a bit relative to other effects.
2. Reducing base pitch and yaw as it feels a bit high for the hull and fire power*.

*Although while the weapons are not synced, it is probably not a problem.

Good luck with the weapon syncing as that sounds cool 8)
