Ships getting destroyed randomly in new DLC sector Field of opperunity
Ships are randomly getting destroyed instantly the second they report there under attack in Fields of oppertunity. there only in the area where the trade station is so theres no actuall danger there... yet there still dying.
this happens when i am OOS.
isnt the whole point of when they report there under attack so you can get the chance to assist them or get them to pull out? i mean seriosly.... altho in this case there arnt even any enemies there attall anyways and they were no where near the dangerous nebulas either.... this also happened once in Devries too. but its happening ALOT in Fields of opportunity.

Same here. Didn't know who was attacking. They left my Arawn alone, the cowards..
What does the warning when a ship is under attack look or sound like? About 7 ships have been destroyed and I haven't got a single warning that I know of. I only find out when checking the log I lost a ship again.
edit: And of course after I said this I got my first warning of a ship attack. Found it in the log too. Still wonder why I never got this in the previous cases.

Can't speak for other areas but I had UA attack one of my freighters in Teladi Space yesterday. They are neutral but I assume since they're technically a pirate faction, they can decide to attack traders. I watched a Cartel ship attack one of my miners before. Though they don't attack my combat ships.
Lucky for me, I was in Eclipse Clouds and got the distress call so I hauled ass to the gate and found my freighter docked with the water prep factory on the other side with a Pheonix firing at it.
Pheonix is gone now of course...

I used to use Xfire. Then I grew up.

Unfortunately the "Help, I'm under attack!" message is only sent when the ship has about 5% hull left, which is completely useless.
I was in the middle of a cartel boss mission and forgot i had a miner in my squad, who after he finished mining rejoined me in the middle of the fight. I didn't realize he was there until he sent the help message, and I had just enough time to find him to see that he had about 5% hull left, before he exploded.
Another time I had a titurel doing a trade run, and got the help message, by the time I brought up my "owned property" list to try and find where he was (about 5 seconds to do..), he had already been destroyed. I found out later he was in commerce core, which is a relatively safe sector except for random pirate raids, so what destroyed him... i have no idea.

It may depend on the skill of the captain. I have a 4 star captain and I got a call from him when the shield of the olmekron he was on went somewhere under the 10%ty_cho wrote:Unfortunately the "Help, I'm under attack!" message is only sent when the ship has about 5% hull left, which is completely useless.
Also most of the zone I used to consider as safe, now are not because there's a chance that a pirate Drosdan and relative escort may spawn. This pesky ship can sink a capital ship by hitself given enough time and a little cover because it fires novadrones as the main weapon.

I don't think so.Ebron wrote:It may depend on the skill of the captain. Theory #1: Out Of Whack OOS computation
I believe this is the old X3 OOS behavior, where the OOS battle are computed, say, every 30 secs. So every 30 secs, the DPS of the attacking ships are calculated and accrued into a gigantic DamagePer30secs that 1-shot your ship. The poor freighter will have no chance, unless Ego revised that OOS algorithm.
Befriending the 2 pirate factions (UA and CAR) with +10 rep did not seem to help, unless that have been fixed between Beta and Release.
Theory #2: Pathing problem when ships are under "Follow Skunk" script.
I have a ship following me from Verdant Profit to the UA factory in Serpentinze Haze (SSW of the Teladi Overwatch). After reaching the zone, I watch the health of the Rahanas that is following me. To my surprise, its hull is 1% and then boom I lost it. There was no hostility around. My guess is that somehow the hazardous zone computation has an error, and it is activated even when the ship is following a predefined safe path, or the follow-me script has a bug that ships cannot both follow the Skunk and takes the mandatory safe pathing at the same time. Same thing applies for ships assigned to stations and under a manager control: Safe Pathing seems to get out of whack!!
Scenario 2:
In Hazy Wave (OL) I issue the order to travel to Exhaustless Mines in Albion to a full health Feldhem. I then issue a "Take me to" the same zone to a Sanahar, and then ride the freighter. The Sahanar crossed the gate to TO just a tad ahead of the Feldhem, all the way to the JB in Serpentine Haze. Upon reaching Exhausless Mines, I checked the Feldhem who has been trailing the Sahanar, but not too far behind (up until the JB). Lo and behold, the Feldhem hull is at 1%, and limping into the gate to Albion. Throughout the trip, there was no hostilities, as I am firendly (+10 rep) with both UA and CAR. There was no message that the ship was under attack, and all 30 of its combat drones were still docked in the ship, and not "In Use".
It appears to this layman, that if the Move order does not have a destination inside the Teladi sectors, then the Safe-Waypoint script does not get run. In this case, because the Feldhem's destination is in Albion, it just went straight from the JB to the gate, and into the hull corosion space.
It goes without saying that I have lost 10 freighters in Serpertine Haze during the Beta test, but I have since started a new game and have not opened the Teladi gates yet.
These 2 issues have been reported in the Beta forum with save games, and hopefully, the devs can address them.
I hope I am wrong!!!!

there are neutral marauders(from 2 factions, initially neutral for player), which could attack any freighter, and since marauder considered neutral
nor freighter nor his escort would not retaliate,
nor would work any fight or escape from battle command,
only jump to other sector, that is BUG.
P.S. I think. that ship should do auto escape from battle, and report that he is under attack when somebody heavy enough select him as target, or at least slightly damages his shields.

Maybe they implement jump drive blockers (EVE's web/scramble)?dmk wrote:...

To defend a trade ship, player could install addons like emergency jump drive, so after taking damage from a destroyer class ship, the trade ships jumps to the marked safe location and stays there.

Problem is, in my 3.0 Beta tests, half of the freighters that got destroyed, were on STAND-BY in Verdant Profit. The other half - actually ALL of them that are assigned to the Ship Tech factory in Verdant Profit - died without leaving a message.Assailer wrote:Maybe they implement jump drive blockers (EVE's web/scramble)?dmk wrote:...

The point is, there is NO SAFE location in Serpentine Haze. I would have thought that Verdant Profit were a very safe location to park my ships, but it was not.

I also received a distress call from one of my freighters (the Argon Heavy Freighter... what ever it is called) in Teladi Space that was unloading water at one of the stations. Just happen that I was one sector away, so flew as fast as possible to see what the trouble was.
When I get there I see two different Maruaders factions (both in destroyers) parked near my ship taking shots at it. I am still showing neutral to both, so neither my freighter or the Taranis escort are shooting back. What the heck?!!?!
So I open up on both of them, and when they turn red.... it just a matter of seconds before both of my ships turn them to a wreck.
I don't understand, how they can shoot at my ships and not turn red to my fleet. What ever the cause of this issue... wouldn't I be better off to make them permanent enemy so my ships will at least defend themselves?

We came to the same conclusion you made above, and reported this as a bug in the Beta forum. Hopefully this will get fixed in the next release.vonhef wrote:I also received a distress call from one of my freighters (the Argon Heavy Freighter... what ever it is called) in Teladi Space that was unloading water at one of the stations.
