A new way of solving problems: AKA that 300 food mission.

Post by Earth Ultimatum IV. »

So the plot mission is to bring 300 food rations to a station in DeVries.

You expected me to order my Rahanas to buy some food and bring it here, right, Egosoft?

False.

I had no Rahanas. It wasn´t returned to me in the plot. (fortunately this bug got fixed now)

Anyway I had to find a new solution.

And there it comes.

I hired a 5* engineer and a 5* captain.
Then some marines.

And went to Albion system for a hunt.

No no no, Iam not whining here, I actually totally ENJOYED this.

Well, then I searched Albion system for Rahanas container ship.
Only the Wholesome foods faction had those. So I had to "borrow" it from friendlies. Luckily my reputation with that faction was high enough, boarding a Rahanas didnt make it negative.

Now the hardest part.
Heavily damaged Rahanas container in Albion space, which is surrounded by PMC forces.

I sent the captain & engineer to the ship, and waited until jumpdrive got repaired.
Then I jumped to Lookout alpha.

I had to be careful! The PMC station is too close to jump beacon. Those station turrets almost destroyed my freighter.

Luckily it survived, I was able to destroy the station turrets fast enough, but engines were damaged.
I have to wait until they get repaired...

By the way, it didn have ANY construction drones aboard. So repairs of engines took about 45 minutes.

Light Sul. When I saw that on my map, I tought that I can handle that. I tought that it will just pass away and do its job.

Nope, as I got closer, I opened info and checked the captain status of that Light Sul, it was saying "ATTACK RAHANAS CONTAINER".

LOL HOW ABOUT NO?

Had to destroy that poor Light Sul.

And then a Taranis jumped in. Seriously?

Spent 20 minutes by shooting it from the weakspot. Had to leave the weakspot regulary - I had to keep engines destroyed. If that Taranis gets to my newly "borrowed" Rahanas, it´s all over.

It finally exploded then. The Taranis.

Next destination: Auspicious Excavation.

I almost lost my nerves here. That big Heavy Sul guarding the gate - I tought that it will attack my Rahanas. Luckily, it didn´t!

Just in case, I called my Taranis from DeVries to cover the Rahanas.
It all went smooth.

Rahanas entered the gate, then Taranis entered gate, and me, at last.

Then I travelled aboard the Rahanas around DeVries until I finally reached Fervid Corona, and regrouped my fleet of Taranis, Construction vessel, and newly aquired Rahanas container.

That Rahanas which I captured had 30,000 food units aboard...
I sent it to do that 300 food mission.

I totally enjoyed this boarding op!

TL;DR
In short: don´t give up guys.
Don´t immerse into the world of mainstreamity.

There are other ways of dealing with problems. Unconventional solutions.

A missing Rahanas because of plot bug, for example.

I love Rebirth the more I play it. :)

I actually did what you did too. Except for a few differences...

-Spent a good 6 hours trying to figure out how to repair the ship since it didn't have drones. Had to scrap that one.

-Found another one and took it and managed to get it back to Devries. Then couldn't get it to trade for the rations anyway. A few hours into struggling with why that didn't work I noticed that at some point my CV plot ship was destroyed or at least missing inexplicably.

That was actually what finally did me in. I wasn't about to start completely over again for a 3rd time only to be foiled by yet another bug or incomplete mechanism.

I figure I "might" try again in a few months. Hopefully they will have the game functioning correctly and enough mods exist to cover up and fill in the holes they don't plan on fixing.

This is emergent gameplay. In my opinion, only the best games ever achieve it.

Rahanas "Barrowing"

Post by Palladin888 »

I have about 5 "barrowed" Rahanas right now. I learned early on that there are jump beacons in various systems and a couple are really close to weapons platforms with HUGE guns ....I didn't like these platforms shooting my ships so I blowed them platforms to hell.

on my recent restart, I had just gotten through the gate and boy oh boy there was a Titruel sitting just off the highway.. jumped off the highway and boarded him ASAP,

They are such good freighters! heavily armed and carries tons of stuff.

And last night when I came up to the 300 food mission, I already had her stuffed full of food waiting by the station, so a quick sell to the station later, mission done.

Something to consider is that as far as I know, the Rahanas you're given as part of the plot won't work for the food rations mission anyway, because it's an energy transporter and you need a container transporter to carry the food.

Another good source of fun ships to board can be missions ('Incoming Cartel Raid', etc). I've found it's a good idea to save right before accepting one of these so that if the cartel guys (who are negative rep to begin with) jump in a ship you want you can make multiple attempts if needed. (I say that because if they jump in too close to the station, your chances of completing a boarding op before the station's guns finish them off are slim to none.)

In my case, I captured a PMC weapons freighter (Rahanas container) that I was able to use to pick up the food rations. Unfortunately, my Fervid Corona station has the full bug and won't accept the goods when my freighter goes to deliver them, and I can't make room for the rations in the station because I don't have a ship that can carry energy cells >.<

How did you get your Taranis and Rahanas to go through the gate to Devries before you?

I dont believe so. I am quite certain the plot Rahanas you get is a hybrid energy/container transporter. It has been so in all of my multiple restarts. Check closely. The food rations mission plus the energy mission worked flawlessly for me in my latest restart. No problems, and both done with the plot Rahanas.

The only way I know of short of the sadly missing command to "go here" is to tell one of them to take you there, board but then get off. They will still leave, but will come back if you dont follow them while they are in your squad or unless you remove them from squad after the action is complete.

*EDIT* Ordering a trade by your Rahanas also works in making them go ahead of you.

You can grab the MCE mod http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=350741 which will allow you to give commands such as "go to system"

My plot Rahanas doesn't want to pick up container cargo. It does state in the details that it has container cargo space but it just doesn't work with containers.

Thats a different story then. It might be a case by case bug unfortunately.

PS: I edited it a little bit.
Added a line saying that the Rahanas which I captured had 30,000 food units aboard.
And I added a line saying that Rahanas didnt have any construction drones aboard, so repairs took very long time.

I ordered the captain of Taranis to "TAKE ME TO...", docked at it and then I undocked. Taranis continued without me. Then I did the same with Rahanas.

Silly old me lost his Gigurum (Container) to Reivers so had to use my Rahannas (Container)

I've found that if it has Cargo-Lifters it can handle 45 foodrations at a time at 1 trip intervals, 2-3 trips caused the loop bug and anything more than 45 foodrations caused the loop bug.
But 7 trips to get the food delivered and past that annoying mission.

Finally getting stuck into the plot. Just need that accursed 'reinforced metal plating' and i'm done with my urv station and to profitssss. lol

I destroyed my Gigurum.
It was ugly as **** and the pilot was annoying. Old grandma.
And no matter what order I gave to her, she always flew in a straight line. After two hours she was somewhere in deep space in the middle of nothing. So I selected that ship in property list, targeted it, followed it and then I destroyed it.

It was the voice that drove me round the bend.. "Yes and the new orders aaaaaaare!"
The way she drags the "are" *Shudders*

I had similar problems with a PMC Fedhelm. They sent a Sul after it, then a Taranis (man i love those beam weapons). I never destroy a Taranis ever, those beams are such an overkill against everything.
Was refreshing after TC's 'excuse me' boarding to see real forces trying to punish the theft.
