trade? am i missing something
Ok I have my freighter assigned to my squad. Why cant I send it off by itself to buy from a station I have already been to. EG to buy energy cells and then sell another station I have been to.
The only ship command I have it fly me to a location. Even when I release it from my squad there are no ship commands. Not even follow ect
I must be missing something I'm not expected to literally babysit every little trade am I?

That's exactly what you are expected to do. You must personally fly to every single station you want to trade with and then you can send your trader to buy stuff. Then you have to fly to the station you want to sell to and then call your freighter again and tell it to sell stuff there. There is no remote control whatsoever.priestyy wrote:I must be missing something I'm not expected to literally babysit every little trade am I?

I've found lots of stations but still only see one or two things to trade all the time.
Surely if there is not remote control trading and we are expected to oversee it all they have effectively removed any chance of creating an empire? No matter how many ships you have you'll still have to oversee the little energy cell trades?

From what I could see so far (got it by the "too many trips" curse), there is remote trading within the same sector.priestyy wrote:I've found lots of stations but still only see one or two things to trade all the time.

Also you can give money to your fleet commanders, so maybe you can delegate the trading at some point?

Yeah, spent the better part of my evening trying to get a small trading empire set up before I realized the trading has been neutered and said screw it.
This is just one massive disappointment after another. I knew they were going to change a lot, and I was trying to be optimistic about it, but they've cut out so much and we've gained almost nothing in return.

I really don't understand it though, since the beginning x games have always had a mechanic that means I can make a freighter go from x system to buy goods to y sector to sell them. Ok I have to command them to buy and then sell but I didn't have to follow it to every sector.
If this is true then their really is no end game for me, I used to build huge trading empires to fund my fighting side, without baby sitting everything this is now obsolete.
One of the foundations of an X game had been taken out for me and I'm sorry to say but I'm really disappointed.
I'm hoping so much that I have missed something or that later on you get some software on your ship that makes trading possible without following everything around. I hope I am wrong

Trading just does not work.
We seem to be expected to slave traders to station complexes in order to make them do things, which of course means we need to raise hundreds of millions in funds before hand.

Theoretically your trade ships follow you rather than you having to follow them and you should be able to queue up trades without waiting for them. They should tell you when they run out of stuff to do.
I haven't done it much yet so how well it works isn't something I can comment on.
I don't know if there's something equivalent to a universe trader in x rebirth though.

Your right the trade ship does follow me........which means I have to do all of the trading and be in the same sector so say for example I buy a ton of energy cells, and want to sell it far away because I've seen a great station to sell it to, I have to literally travel there myself to be able to tell my following freighter which is reallly slow to sell it's energy cells to said station.
Meaning I cant go somewhere completely different and oversee the trade from a trade screen somewhere. Why can't I just get up and go, why do I have to travel to the new sector to tell my freighter to sell it's wares there, why cant I sit wherever I want and tell the captain which cost me credits and is all grown up to go and sell the goods himself at the station we found 5 sectors ago.
Why hire a captain at all?!
