Deliver2Mac X3:AP -> Steam [Working!]

Post by WhiteOwl »

With the release of X3:AP 3.0 for Mac on Steam, is there any way people who bought X3:TC and X3:AP on Deliver2Mac can convert to Steam without having to buy it again? If not, is there any way we can get the 3.0 update?

You need to contact Virtual Programming for now as they did the Deliver2Mac port. However, because Egosoft is now doing their own Mac ports, VP may be less helpful to you than maybe in the past. You could perhaps wait for the Egosoft port which I feel sure will recognise all sorts of prior purchase registrations.

As to Steam, you could try the Deliver2Mac registration code and see if Steam accepts it. You do need Steam X3TC before X3AP will work - I'm not 100% sure how that works on a Mac though. Nothing to lose by at least trying.

Well, I tried my X3AP forum key from Deliver2Mac on steam and it didn't work. I think it's fair to expect Egosoft to do something about this, given they changed the distribution channel. If it was only re-purchasing X3AP I could live with that, if only to support Egosoft (I also preordered rebirth), but to shell out $25 for X3TC and AP, both of which I've already paid for seems a but too much. I guess I'll wait and see.

"I think it's fair to expect Egosoft to do something about this, given they changed the distribution channel."

They haven't. All Egosoft have done is to potentially provide future Mac customers with more choices since VP have shown little interest in expanding their support to include new versions or renew their franchise of X ports. Egosoft have no responsibility for VP and their separate port venture as the FAQ I linked will show.

Egosoft will far more likely help you when their internal port is stable and released in future and that is your recommended route.

My mistake, I thought it was Egosoft who changed because of the move to Steam. Regardless, I think it is fair to expect at least some form of assistance here. You seem to think that Egosoft will do the right thing, so that's encouraging. I'll wait and see how it goes.

It seems things moved rather faster than I expected. Having chased this up only an hour or so ago, I'm pleased to be able to tell you that your registration codes for the Mac versions of X3TC and X3AP should now allow you to activate the games on Steam. Please try them and let me know how you get on.
