... check out this apparent freebie Crossover offer from Codeweavers:
http://www.codeweavers.com/about/genera ... /20121029/
Seems kosher, worth £38 theoretically, and even us existing Crossover owners get an extra 12 mths free ticket support far as I can see.
Only claimable tomorrow for 24 hrs though.
Crossover hasn't solved all my "can't use Windows X tool apps" problems at the drop of a hat, it can be tricky and time consuming; but I've got the PM Manager and associated tools, and X Editor 2, working without too much difficulty. And Exscriptor works, albeit with severe limitations; haven't got mr.bears wonderful X-Studio working yet though - hoping I'll get there in the end.
I'd say a free Crossover is worth having for any Mac user.
Apple Mac X3 players/scripters/modders might want to ...

If you mean you've managed to run the PM installer 'exe' ok, but then PM won't launch, that probably means it needs MS '.Net' extension downloads, and possibly even C runtime libs as well; I'd installed PM into my Exscriptor 'bottle', which already had all those libs in place.
Theoretically, Crossover is set up to install all of those MS extra libs fairly easily, but there are potential problems that can crop up (not least of which is that MS changes or disables the links Crossover currently has for the downloads, which means you have to go trawling the net for alternative links). But essentially, it's Crossover>Configure>Install Software..., and then choose the required package(s) from the Service Packs and Upgrades, or Runtime Support Components section. iirc, if you choose .NET Framework 3.5, you'll find Crossover auto downloads the previous .NET versions as well, because it knows they _are_ needed for 3.5. You _do_ have to ensure that you're installing these frameworks to the same bottle that PM's (or whatever Windows app you want them for) installed in.
However, if you couldn't get XPluginManager_Installer.exe to run (or install via Crossover>Configure>Install Software...), well, if you're doing the right steps and it won't complete that would indicate a problem with the Crossover install; but if it's just you're not sure about the steps, I can upload some screenshots if necessary, not a problem.
Let me know.
Andy.
