Repair Lasers & Phased Array Laser Cannon (AP)

Is there anywhere that I can buy repair lasers in AP? I remember kitting out my Vidar in TC with repair lasers but I can't remember if I was using a script or mod. If they can't be bought what is the point of a ship being able to fit them if they are not available? (For scripters & modders perhaps?)
Also has anyone ever found any PALCs in the UFJD sectors or has this weapon been abandoned completely in AP?

There's one in your space suit. It shares the slot in the weapons data base with the tractor beam and the mining laser, that's why it shows up in possible weapons.
The PALC is not in AP.

But the Plasma Beam Cannon is available. All that you want.

I was hopig to fit out my tiger, panther & cerberus with PALCs if they could be found. It was a pretty good weapon for picking of fast flying m5s in TC. A bit like the kyon emitter, almost an instant hit.
Are you saying the PBC is available to buy, found in the UFJD sectors or do I have to board capital ships to get them? They will fit nicely in my Cerberus but not the other two. Again instant hit wonder!

Obtaining PBCs is a bit of an exploit. There's a thread on it somewhere if you try a search.

Ive actually experimented with PALCs in AP (using the cheat package to add some to my inventory) and found they aren't all that great when used by the AI (even the MARS script). They still often miss and given their ~6km range, this can lead to friendly fire incidents quite easily. I reverted to a previous save...

Looking in the encyclopedia at the price of the PBC then the price of Lasertowers it seems a pretty good way of earning a lot of credits (as long as the destroyed LT drops it weapon). I'm in need of a few more cr. so I think I'll buy every lasertower I can find (I already have 3 that I have not deployed but I'm going to now!). My Cerberus can forget about his new weapons!

Yes, I discovered that also. So in the end I only used them in Khaak & Xenon sectors switching out upon returning to friendly terratory.

Coreblimey, they don't drop every time. It's a random chance that doesn't seem profitable in my experience. There is supposedly another way to acquire them that gives you an unlimited supply, but is more of an exploit. I don't know the details though.

While the LT's are deploying get a freight drone and order it to transfer a negitive amount of PBC's. This will give you infinite PBC's

Nice tip jack775544. But exactly how do I go about doing that? I didn't know you could tranfer anything to/from a LT.

easiest way is to have a ship that can dock things (TM,M7/C, M1) with a freight drone in its hold then under trade in the command console select transfer freight via drone... select laser tower and do what jack775544 said... i avoid doing it because its so game breaking.... but i did try it just to see if it worked

@46_n_2 Thanks. I'll try it out later. I only need 4 for my Cerberus to try out. I can see how it can be game-breaking especially if selling them off like I suggested in my earlier post. Too rich, too quick!

Tried it but it failed to work. The drone got half way there then returned home.

park em closer together... when i did it i wasnt using it on a laser tower i filled up a mammoth with nividium... maybe getting a few pew pew lasers wouldnt be as game breaking as that

ill play with it here in a little and see if i can get the lt to work with it and let you know (unless of course you figure it out)

What I did was stop my ship, ejected LT (giving a distance of 5.35km from ship, a Megalodon, once deployed.) then did as was suggested above. The drone excepted the command, toddled of towards the LT but decided to come back after reaching half way. There was no command given by me to return so I reckon that it realized that it's task couldn't be done and therefor abandoned it's orders.

I'll be logging out very shortly to go and get some sleep. I've been up for over 24hrs. and my eyes are beginning to close. I'll check for your post as soon as I return to my computer.

ok.... i figured it out.... one way with drones will get you 1:1 LT:PBC and then you can make it 1:infinity i will explain both... i used an albatross with nothing docked....

ejected 1 LT. used command console trade via drones. selected LT selected transfer back PBC amount 1... the drone would bring one back so stop here if you wanna do a non-game breaking thing.....

now to infinite after the PBC is on the Albatross i told it to transfer via drone again selected nearest ship (hype V in this case) selected transfer TO target PBC -5... drone flew up to it then flew back to albatross... albatross now has 6 PBCs.... i was not flying either ship so i dont know if it works when you are...

Back in the land of the living!

I've read the first line of your spoiler and realize what I did wrong, i.e. I used a negative number (-1).
I assume the tower keeps deploying but without it's weapon. So it could in fact actually be used as a deterrent, after all the npc ships won't know it's not armed!
I have 3 un-deployed LTs so I just need need another one. Actually I think I have a ship docked at an MO that has a couple in stock. As long as the ship, a Viper (or is that a Cobra, I always get the names mixed up, it's the split M7M), can carry XL, I can buy one straight away.
I must remember to be careful where I use my Cerberus so as to avoid friendly fire with these weapons. I'll now fire up my game and see if I can do it properly (I've got a habit of messing things up!).

UPDATE:
It worked! I now have 4 PBCs. I did it slightly different to what you suggested but the result was the same. This is was I did:

Instead of using all 3 of the LTs that I currently own I needed only one. This is what happened.
The first time I tried I was flying the ship and it failed. I landed back at the station (after collecting the LT in space) and transferred to another ship. Then I did it remotely as you suggested. It worked perfectly. Again the LT was collected from space and the ship ordered to land. I transferred back to this ship then went off and docked at the nearest MO. In this case it was in Twisted Skies where my Cobra was docked. I sold the LT and then ordered my Cobra to buy the exact same one. I sent my Cobra off and ordered it to deploy the LT. Once deployed I then checked to see if the LT had a weapon fitted. It hadn't. But then I noticed that it did have a PBC but in it's freight bay. So this time I ordered the Cobra to tranfer the PBC. It worked. I now have 2 PBCs. I ordered the Cobra to land and once it was landed I went and collected the LT ( which was now weaponless) from space. I sold it to the MO and just repeated what I had previously done until I had the four that I required, finally selling the LT for the final time (it was useless now as there is no way that I know of of making the LT fit it's weapon.) Whoever buys this LT now is just buying a tower with a weapon that can't be slotted in it's laser bay.
Actually I was surprised using the Cobra worked as it doesn't have a docking bay for the drones to land, but as I say, everything worked out nicely.

So thanks once again. I am now a happy bunny!
