Can I play a vanilla TC together with a modded AP?
I plan to play TC for the plots and achievements, and I want to play AP with IEX+XRM, Mars and various scripts to make a powerful galactic empire. Is this possible without risking to break anything?

Actually don't think it will be a problem as long as you don't mod anything in TC.
I've modded AP to the point it isn't possible for me to remove everything and using Steam to replace deleted files and get an unmodified game. My TC install is still unmodified with everything I've got in the addon folder after discovering that.
It most likely won't work the other way around though as AP relies on TC files to run.

You also could:
1. Copy your whole X3TC Steam directory (by default C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict) to another place on your harddrive.
2. Download the NoSteam exe of X3AP and copy it to the copied X3TC directory.
Then you would have two seperate installations, one in your Steam directory to play the vanilla X3TC game (and to get achievements) and the copied installation to play a modded game.

Thank you very much for the solution! Running two installs sounds perfect.
Edit: Okay, I moved the directory, but I have a problem with Plugin Manager. How can I make it recognize the non steam executable and folder?
Do I just rename X3AP_n.exe to X3AP.exe overwriting the other one and then select the new location with plugin manager?

Just drop the X3AP_n exe into the folder beside the original Steam version then pin to start menu or make a shortcut on the desktop. No need to rename.
Plugin Manager will need to be installed again for the new folder I think and pointed at it during the install process. Not sure, but I don't see an option to redirect it. Either way, shouldn't be too much trouble as it installs and sets everything up with minimal time and effort required.

Okay, I moved the file, created the shortcuts, reinstalled Plugin Manager, and now I just hope everything will be alright. Thanks.xTemon wrote:Just drop the X3AP_n exe into the folder beside the original Steam version then pin to start menu or make a shortcut on the desktop. No need to rename.
