[AL][AP 2.0] XAttacks 1.0 (02/27/2012)

Post by Marvelous3175 »

XAttacks 1.0 - Xenon Invasion

What this script does:
It adds a new Mission (not MD, only with scripts), where you have to help a Commonwealth fleet to protect a sector against a big attacking Xenon Fleet.
It focuses on "Capital ship vs Capital ship", that means more big ships less fighters.

When you accept the mission, after few minutes additional to the first Xenon fleet (that will always be there) reinforcments arrive. Their number depends on the players fight rank.
Spoiler
Show
If it's high enough a little surprise awaits you...

And of course you get rewarded for every kill.

Compatibility
- only meant for AP 2.0
but should work with every script/mod that is compatible to AP 2.0
- uses Page.Id = 8366
- script names start with "plugin.XAttacks..." and "setup.plugin.XAttacks"
- global/local variables start with "XAttacks"

Installation
1.) Download the files

Direct-Download:
a) [ external image ]
from http://xdownloads.co.uk/

b) or as an Alternative: here

2.) and copy the folders (scripts, scripts.uninstall and t) in your X3:TC main directory in the "addon"-folder

Uninstall
Copy the "setup.plugin.XAttacks.xml"-file in the scripts folder (ovveride the other file!) and load your savegame, then all connections to the signals are removed.
After that you are free to remove all files or leave them, doesn't matter

How it works
- it works only with signals (signal_killed and signal_changesector); don't bother if that doesn't say anything to you

- Every time you jump in a new sector there's a little chance that you get the message to start the mission. The earliest possible time for that is 6 hours after the last mission or 6 hours total playing time with your savegame if you just installed the script.

Nice to know
If you want more ships to spawn (or less):
Spoiler
Show
go in the t-file "8366-L044.xml" and edit the number in the fields with the id's 106,107,102 and 101. Those are the numbers of the ships that will be spawned if you have the highest fight rank.

For lower ranks the number of ships is calculated with this formula:
[square root of (square root of (current combat rank)) / square root of (square root of (max. combat rank))] x the number that stands in the fields in the t-file for that ship class

At last
I'm always open for suggestions and ideas to improve this script.

Sounds very interesting. I will install and try it when I get the time. One question, How does this react with AP's RRF?
1940s - Various "computers" are "programmed" using direct wiring and switches. Engineers do this in order to avoid the tabs vs spaces debate.

Sadly, when I tested this script no RRF-Fleet showed up.
I heard about their missile-spam (although I never expierienced it due to my little time that I had recently to play the game). But when the missile-defence script does it job how it's supposed to, then they should be a real thread.

How many times did you test it for RRF? The number of RRF ships in AP is apparently quite small, so if they were tied up somewhere else (or dead) while you decided to test this, they wouldn't have shown.

Anyway, this script sounds awesome! I'll wait for the word on compatibility with stuff like XRM before getting it (like you say in the OP it should be OK, but I'm paranoid) but definitely something I'll be watching. :D
Allergic to work.

If at first you don't succeed, delegate the job to a minion.

I consider this a good thing. I wouldn't really like to see a RRF M8 show up and ruin an awsome battle with missle spam.
