this is a small experiment i am doing to get station that can be bought (either models or any other station that can be ferried by the Terran ice miners TL class) so far i managed to get my hands on a ice harvesting facility L )

Requirements :

Fast ship (kestrel 605m/s)

Jump beacon x1

Well shielded destroyer (i used a fully loaded captured tyr)

Second destroyer guarding your jump beacon and refuel ship (optional)

Mosquito defense (recommended)

M7M capable of launching boarding pods with well trained (20) marines on board, i used a 5 star mech and 5 star hacking marines with 40+ fighting skills.

Fighter for the long wait.

TS ship with Energy cells, torpedoes, and flails.

patience..


The op.

first task is to pick up a small cluster of Terran sector, such as saturn2 and 3, those sectors seems to attract less attention from military vessels.

have the small fleet ready, with enough jump drives. go into your fast ship with the jump beacon in the cargo hold, and flight it to your destination, make sure you plant your jump beacon in the last sector. such as earth. or Saturn 3, it is important to drop it in a dead end sector.

get in the sector, and drop it 30-60 km behind the gate. and command your M7M and the destroyer jump to the jump beacon you just dropped.

first task is to eliminate EVERYTHING with your destroyer but have your M7M protect you and follow you. pilot your destroyer, it is possible that a rapid response force shows up if it does:

i recommend using M7Ms to kill any rapid response ships. this will avoid that they jump away to come back a few minutes later.


Rapid response ships:

if a claymores jumps in. transport yourself to the M7M and kill it with flails ASAP.

if an Osaka jump in , use 4-6 barrage with torpedoes this number should kill it.

if Tokios jumps in 4-5 barrages should make a quick kill on the carrier.

from there. you are safe for now to take care of the fighters (if any) using your destroyer, with the same ship now clean the sector removing all the stations you find on your way.

once sector clear, jump the rest of your fleet, and re arm your M7M.

now move your destroyer and M7M to the adjacent sector and do the same . once cleared, grab your Fighter. and start killing the TS or make then bail as soon as they enter the sector. now you need to get in and out of the second cleaned sector, and get back. took me 8 in game hours doing this with my fighter, until...

i spotted my first Terran miner TL, in its cargo hold , the ice harvesting facility L.
Facts :


AI TL's use the shipyard in the moon to load stations.

So far i can confirm that ice harvesting facilities are being transported by Terran NPC TL's .

i have a hunch that big docks are not.

Captured TLs behavior is fixed in AP. once captured you can jump them and make then dock somewhere safe, and they will do so AND STAY THERE.

you might not be able to complex this stations. i will confirm later.

confirmed as ferried and possible to capture :


Terran ice harvesting facilities
Phantom missile fab
matter/antimatter mine fab


i plan to move to next adjacent sector , once my M7M is completely refilled, one thing is certain, the more stations you destroy , the more likely GOD's TL will send me new factories.

Main target is a matter antimatter warhead production fab and the specter production facility.

IIRC, capturing TLs to obtain certain stations works in X3TC, as well. Though, I am not sure if TLs can be found carrying anything other than Ice Mines in X3TC.

i did capture a starburst shockwave cannon (the NPC model)

the matter antimatter fab, and 2 mines in X3TC .

i saw a bunch of TLs coming down with those after you finished the Aldrin missions.

Unfortunately this isn't 100% reliable -- I've had some try and sneak out on me in AP -- so you do want to keep on them.

just captured a TL with a phantom missile fab inside

you were right, i am now dealing with the ghost of the captain :lol:

so old bug never went away

some race response ships has it, or in jupiter , i have found a couple inside the woden (ships)

now cleared saturn/saturn 2 and saturn 3.

lets see if a miracle occurs and a nice miner comes with a terran dock :)

Interesting, I've seen this before in TC also, but the Ice mine is pointless due to there being no asteroids with ice in them?

there are a few ice asteroids around.

the only useful one being in asteroid belt =P but it is a nice chunky 133 yield.
Just saying it forward: I give everyone 2 posts to make good, in context posts(proper english, as always, is optional). After that I'm ignoring what you have to say in that thread that's directed to what we previously were talking about.

There are a few ice asteroids dotted around (with extremely high yields), most in terran space of course

There's a 78 in Saturn 3, but this is Catch 22.
If you're Argon you wouldn't have a use for the mine, if you're Terran you wouldn't want the rep hit for the TL...
Do you miss dangerous pirates?

also , about the phantom pilot..

if you catch the TL just after it picks up the station (the moon) , and you capture it BEFORE it cross the first gate, the ship is not bugged.

(dont ask me why) but both of the miners, i captured in the moon , are safely docked in home of light.

the one i captured in saturn 2 heading to saturn 3 was bugged ended up deploying the factory , and sent the TL for a ride in a xenon sector .

I can't see a single Terran TL flying other than atmo lifters. Does it get displayed with a TL icon or with a civilian ship icon on the scanner?

they are usually docked. best bet is destroy some stations and then kill the station were they are docked, (1 or 2)

use a kestrel with a planned route , and keep an eye on it.

last one i got was the USC food factory , (NPC model)

What kind of stations can dock those TLs? Would they be lifters of mobile mining bases? Sorry, I am a bit lost here. Would they be docked on the shipyard itself? I am actually having fun in a Panther going 209 instead of Kestrel, not sure whether it matters. I destroyed all factories of interest and now camping in the Moon sector waiting for something to show up.
