horrible sound problems!
ive just come back to this game, brought albion prelude ect
im having this horrible stuttering and repeative clicking sounds coming from the audio soundtrack! NOT the sound effects!
ive noticed this on terran conflict and albion
im wondering if it has anything to do with windows MP12
my mp3 music player sounds fine, my films all play perfectly too and so does my civ 5 game in any sound mode!
shall i post my dxdiag?
p.s on a positive note the new game is running like a rocket, even managed to keep my joystick settings from terran conflict..well done team!

Re: horrible sound problems!
I believe that I got this problem just an hour ago. Ship computer was no longer verbose (I have never disabled it inc in TC), and various sounds were replaced by the "mike off" sound, which might be what you are referring to as clicking sounds. I tried station announcements and they weren't happening either.paulms1980 wrote: im having this horrible stuttering and repeative clicking sounds coming from the audio soundtrack! I took this a bit further and ran TC from a save and the verbose computer was working fine and mike clicks were not to be heard except when they were supposed to. The install was vanilla but the save had lots of mods. Worked as expected. I then exited TC, started a new AP game (instead of loading from an AP save) and everything was fine. At the time of the change my system went through a "blue screen of death" crash. As I recently changed memory modules I can't say for sure that my hardware is stable. From then I got BSOD for 3 consecutive reboots. Finally I swapped back to an older set of memory modules and no crashes since. I did a scandisk on C: and it found errors. Before actually running AP for first time, I made a clone of the install folder onto a seperate drive. When I discovered the audio problem I used "SynchronizeIt!" app to compare (actual contents of files) with current install. Four files were missing including "lang.dat" plus 3 from t/ folder with digits in the name. I was able to replace these from the backup. It is interesting to note that before replacing these, I used Steam's "verify integrity of cache files" on AP, and it reported that there were no problems. Oh yes there was!
In summary it looks like my faulty memory had corrupted the running AP game, and this corruption went into saved files from then. Whether or not TC ever exhibited similar problems is a mute point. Any app can be excused from pretty much any behaviour if the hardware is faulty

Glen,
a few of us are having this same issue as you, but I can tell you I don't have bad ram, and I don't BSoD.
So I'm not entirely convienced that the sound issue is hardware related, but maybe steam related, as in steam is removing some files since you said yourself the steam check found no issues.

I'm reading some other posts that appear to be related to same issue. Check both /t and addon/t folders. There should be 9 files in the first and 8 files in the second. There are no duplicated files (files with same name in addon/t have different contents). If you are missing any files, try the Steam verify cache thing. Just now I intentionally removed a couple of files in addons/t and this time Steam replaced them. *shrugs*Nightshadexl wrote:Glen,

EDIT: As luck would have it, my latest AP save (the one I said above was corrupted) came only 90 seconds after the previous save. With all of the t/ and addon/t files intact, the latest save doesn't have computer voice but the 2nd last one does. So that would tend to confirm the corrupted save theory. Umm I had no music with my audio problem also.
