Multi-Monitor Support
Do you know if the game will support multi monitor resolutions yet, or has it yet to be tested?
If it works do you know if the field of view change is horizontal plus, meaning as the aspect ratio increases horizontally, you get to see more of the space around you. As opposed to vertical minus which means you as the aspect ratio increases you see the same amount horizontally but less vertically.

It would be great to be able to have an immersive cockpit view where (for 3 monitors) you'd have front at the centre, right on the right, left on the left screens, that would make looking for enemies better than moving the mouse/camera/character head.
Or have other things displayed on them such as station management and informational stuff.

This sı not ǝpısdn down.

Using multiple monitors would be nice. Have one screen as the main view, and one/two others looking over your information. One on the left having something like financial (player credits, station credits, how much wares a station is holding and how much its making in terms of income) information while the right holds a list of your owned stations/ships. With some customization of course, in case people don't want those there and want a view spread across all the monitors.

The game would be INCREDIBLE with multple monitors.
What size would you guys recommend? (excluding multi).
I currently have a 19" and its difficult to enjoy X:TC because its so beautiful and with a small LCD it doesn't do the game justice.
I'm thinking 24"-27"?

[quote="Seon"]Could you guys imagine playing X Rebirth on overkilled multi-monitors? I'm talking an entire wall full of monitors. That would be pure epic. And did I mention overkill?

if i had the cash and ability, Id go the whole hog and turn one room of my house into a Carrier Command Deck. A wall full of Monitors to display the "front" and then a couple of Desks either side with monitors on them covering all sorts of info like one for each turret position and others for sector map and one for the universe map etc. and then in the middle id have the captains pedistal.

...and six months later your rig becomes just an entry level PC
Maybe separate PCs with the game synchronized to each one,so that you could have different displays on each each screen without taking from the CPU that actually controls the game FPS rates etc
This way you could use older PCs for information screens

Well if the X3:TC is any indication we should be good, but given that they've created a new engine I thought I best asked.
This is what X3:TC looked like after the FOV was tweeked.
1680x1050

3840x960

5040x1050

I did it by selecting 5040x1050 from my resolution list then tweaking the FOV in the optionsrrfarmer wrote:How did you do that and is that with multiple monitors?!?!?

Correct.
What Multi monitors does for TC etc is stretch the POV across two or more monitors.
You could have a whole wall of FSMs,but you would still only see the camera view, albeit ,vastly bigger within the frames of each flat-screen monitor.
You can't have ,say, camera view on centre screen, sector view on left screen and Property menu on the right screen.

Make a thread and ask over here.rrfarmer wrote:can someone help me find a good monitor with an extramely thin border?
Be sure to mention what size and price your looking for.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

They don't exist at least not at desktop monitor size. And besides if you really want to run a multi-monitor system you ideally want 3 identical monitors, at the very least you want monitors with identical sizes and resolutions.rrfarmer wrote:can someone help me find a good monitor with an extramely thin border?
Your best bet for a decent answers on this subject is probably to search the WidescreenGamingForum's web site.
