During the mission where you blow up the Yaki base, I managed to pick up this cute little penguin lingering around the sector. Turns out he's a Suzanuwa prototype. He looks derpy but man he's got some pretty boffo stats. I may have to outfit him and take him out for a spin sometime. I'll just have to put a bag on my head first.

This is me running away from the base in my vacuum suit. You can just barely make out the base exploding behind me in the background if you squint. I didn't want to hurt my long-term business relations with the Yaki (the benefits of will be apparent shortly) so I jumped in a peregrine of mine, fired about 10 salvos of tomahawks just to be sure, then ejected and flew back to my Boreas while my peregrine jumped out. No harm no foul.

At last I captured the orca containing the player HQ, though I've yet to deploy it. I did a simple cobra flail swarm operation, and used way too much ordinance because the orca's invincibility allowed me to be sloppy.

This is just a glamour shot of the Orca back at my fleet rally point, pregnant with the still undeployed player HQ.

Of course that wrapped up Bala Gi's legacy so what next? Well I have to help those Goner fellers build their Temple, that's what. For the most part it was an easy mission chain, but I reserve a special place in Kha'ak hell for this particular mission. Oh yes, it was a pleasure to blow up this pirate base after the chase I was led through those hostile pea-soup fog sectors. I'm friends with the pirates! But that didn't stop them from attacking me with a fleet led by a carrack, and me in a little hyperion vanguard all on my lonesome. Eat SQUASH mines, freebooters!

Something interesting I learned is that receiving the Truelight Seeker seems to be a time-delay reward from the mission in which you capture it. The reason I say this is that I got the TLS before finishing the last few missions.

But at long last...

The Goner sure do love their videoscreens, don't they?

So that's a load of happy hippies and... hey, what's this they put in my inventory? Unfocussed jumpdrive. Well there's only one thing I can do with that, isn't there? Oh yes, my droogies. What's that I spy in the distance?

I happened upon it in a 'dark' sector, and I deploying advanced satellites in sectors to get an overview with the 'k' key, but even at maximum zoom the sector map didn't pick up this baby. I'm glad I was still scanning around using my eyeballs. One trick I was using was to target a nearby asteroid and then use F3 to get a better zoom out. In a dark sector though, this baby glows like a christmas tree.

Yes, that's the Goner Aran! I went in with my Hyperion Vanguard and a contingent of 5x five star marines. Did a space walk, of course, after tickling it with my repair laser. It was a bit tricky to get the marines to all attach to the hull at the same time. I couldn't get it to work by being near the side in the middle, but I had much better luck when I went out in front of the Aran's nose. After a few reloads...

What follows is completely gratuitous. I apologize.

Okay, I got that showing off out of my system.

Yeah I knew that arrangement with the Yaki would pay off. KABOOMS!
[ external image ]
And yes, I completed that chain as well. Now I have access to the shipyard in TUS1 so I can actually experiment with maybe a shadow production complex or something.

And I'll just end the post by buzzing you all with a UFO I spotted in Aldrin 2. Ciao!
