HELLO X3R PLAYERS!

As you already know my user name is PALADIN 245 (egosoft wouldn't let me have the space :P) what you may not know is that over the last 12 months I have been attempting to learn how to create new ships for X3 Reunion, I have finally succeeded.

This Page will contain all past, present and future developments that I have or are currently creating, I hope that people will find my ships to be powerful yet useful ships, and eventually I would like to move beyond simple ships to some more complicated vessels. All in time though as I'm still learning!

CREATED SHIPS and DETAILS:

Ship #1 Talon Fire Advanced Recon Ship

Name: Talon Fire
Ship Version: v2.1
Ship Info:
The Talon Fire is a small two man recon fighter designed for high speeds and large resiliance. This ship is designed to operate in remote areas as a forward scout but at the same time is an invaluble ship when defending a capital class vessel against missile attacks, this is thanks to the fighter's capacity to mount PBE and be able to maintain there fire indefinetily. Even with the fighters strong sheilding for its size it is no match for an M4 class ship and is eaisly destroyed by such a vessel.

Ship #2 Logistical and Repairs Support Frigate

Name: Support Frigate
Ship Version: v2.85
Ship Info:
Medium sized M7 class ship armed with 3 independantly targeting piont defence turret veiwpoints armed with a veriaty of different class weapons. The ship will combine docking for up to 4 M5, M4 and M3 class ships as well as quad repair lasers and quad tractor beams. This ship combines everything from a light carrier to a repair and salvage ship with an advanced piont defence system capable of dealing with most threats smaller than M6 or M7 class ships (depending on race).

[please note that you can use one or the other of the tractors and repair lasers or a combination of both as mentioned in the above blurb]

[please note that all four of the docking bays are in working order and can dock up to and including M3 class ships]

Ship #3 Armed Merchant Assualt Frigate

Name: Assualt Frigate
Ship Version: v2.5
Ship Info:
Small size M7 class ship, the Assualt Frigate combines the most boring, boxy and ugly looks with a broadside to make an Titan Captain shiver with fear. Many pirates have attempted to capture this particular class of vessel beleiving it to be a large merchant tanker, however the pirates soon realized there mistake as the Assualt Frigate Captain opened his weapon hatches to reveal a 12 turret broadside that contained more than enough firepower to instantly destroy any of the pirate groups ships. This ship also incorperates a large amount of redundancy to prevent catastrophic damage to any single component stopping the ship from completing its mission. As part of the redundancy the ship has two bridges, the top (primary) and the bottom (secondary), both bridges are situated at the front however, and conceivably, both could be destroyed, however this is an unlikely event as very few ships have the firepower to match this small and powerful terror.

Ship #4 Talon Class Hunter Assualt Fighter

Name: Talon Hunter
Ship Version: 3.18
Ship Info:
After the Talon Fire was put into service the R&D division at TII were put to the task of designing the ultimate in multirole combat for an M4 class ship. They did not disapiont with the release of the Talon Hunter. Choosing to coninue on with the Talon CLass of ships TII was able to develop a ship combining the speed and manoeuvrability of ships like the Argon Buster with the kind of firepower expected of a modern day M3 ship. The fact is that this ship has the performance boost to take on an Argon Nova and win. This sort of performance was not easily created for a ship the size of the Hunter, and it required teh development of a whole new power plant that is smaller and more conductive than anything seen in an M4 class ship since the M4 class was originally released. The downside to the HUnter is that while it is a very powerful ship it costs the same as most M3 class ships because of the redisigned features built into the ship.

Ship #5 Viper Escort Frigate

Name: Viper
Ship Version: 1.1
Ship Info:
The Viper was the first of the new M7 Escort Frigate class vessels. It combines moderate sheilding and fast speeds with a large number of anti fighter weapons, not to mention the new Hybrid Antimatter Generators and expanded laser capacitor. The ship also allows docking for up to 2x M5, M4 or M3 class ships. Not only this but the ship is more than capable of fighting off any enemy ships. The ship has heavy top and bottom armement but has weaker side armement this allows the ship to roll to bring far more weapons to bare while providing a larger cross section to shield the merchantmen the ship is tasked with defending.

Ship #6 Valkyrie Modular Assault Carrier

Name: Valkyrie
Ship Version: 1.0
Ship Info:
The Valkyrie is the first of the new Modular class of ships and was optimised more as a multirole ship that can be adjusted on the fly rather than as a dedicated weapons platform. The Valkyrie's main hull is able to mount up to three different modules. The Valkyrie Assault Carrier variant is outfitted with two Hanger Module's and one Multi Gun Module allowing it to both engage large ships such as Corvettes and Frigates while also being able to feild twenty four fighters.

RESEARCH LAB:

Ion Frigate:

Medium sized M6 class ship that packs 12x Ion Disrupters and a large array of anti-capital missiles. As well as 4 independantly targeting piont defence turrets armed with either IRE, PAC or PBE class weapons. This ship combines a heavy Ion Disrupter array that is able to knock out capital ship sheilds very quickly with the ability to rapidly launch shipkiller thermo nuclear warheads, yet can also handle most enemy threats smaller than M3 or M3+ class ships.

ON ANOTHER SIDE NOTE!

I have put together a quick selection of useful material for other new ship modellers or those thinking of trying their respective hands at ship modelling, please be warned though that none of the tutorials that i have collected were written by me and i have therefore added a file to the download folder called "READ THIS!" that contains the relevant CREDITS that needed to be given for each respective person's work. I hope my fellow ship creators will find this stuff to be helpful. Also the tutorials included in the Download Folder that have TC in them are Terran Conflict based tutorials however they also work well for Reunion hence the reason i have included them.

I would recommend simply downloading the entire folder via the button located above the first item... that way you get everything including the "READ THIS!" Credits file.

No i meant what imgae host should I use...

And how do you convert the ingame screenshot format into a .jpg ?

Still new to all this so I still need things like this explained to me!

There are many free images hosting websites, like - imageshack.com. The best upload images in jpeg format, about converting TGA images to another format - (Nero PhotoShow can convert TGA format images to another format, if I remember right), there are many softwares who can do that, search in google about that.

Also i'm looking to create custom turrets for some of my upcoming models and i have a guide that i downloaded from somewhere on the gorums that instructs on both the placement and how to create the parts and export them, however i have run accross a term that i didn't recognise and thought someone might know what it means.

"Don't forget to create LODs. Each part should have 3 LODs."

What is a LOD ???

Hope someone can asnwer the question as i'm waiting on it in order to release the Support Frigate for people to use, i need to get the turrets sorted so they work but i don't understand what a LOD is... please can someone tell me or piont me to somewhere that explains what a LOD is!

Your new ship - Support Frigate, looks very interesting design :D . When I have free time, I'll try your ships in the game.
You must maybe add high level of detalization to your ships, your ships looks interesting, but little bit too smooth forms, for me it looks like looking at the ships screenshots. You can add a cavity, ribs, jut to ship, see for example on Terran Thor ship (my favorite ship in X3R).
Only don't add to your ships too many detalization, too many polys, I don't know how will be normal poly conts in X3R, but I try in X2 to creat small ship about 5K, big ships about 10 - 20K.
I don't know too much about X3R modding (not tried yet), but I know many about X2 modding. I almost 2 years not played X3 Reunion, all my free time modding X2 (and plannig to modding long time).

Thanks for your feedback, I am quite new to modding X3 Reunion myself and am therefore struggling from a lack of finding tutorials, or in some cases explenations of complex terminology in some tutorials, and have therefore run into quite a few blocks.

I am currently attempting to figure out how to create custom docking scenes but I cannot find any tutorials on how to do this, any information on creating custom external docking scenes would be much appreciated.

Kool thanks, everything bar the 6 barrel chainguns on the front look like a merchant ship, I added the chainguns as an afterthought so let me know whether they should remain... or be removed.

PS hope you try the ships and am looking forward to your feedback on them!

I found some free time and tested your ships in the game, ships looks very good. :D
I have some suggestions:
Support Frigate - perhaps you should change the cockpit window texture, because this texture not looks too good.

Talon Fire - I think also you should change the cockpit window texture, maybe you can change cockpit window texture the same as the Assualt Frigate - very light yellow.
Assualt Frigate - 6 barrel chainguns on the front looks interesting, I like it. I think you should change front 2 jut, they looks like a car front headlights, maybe you can remove it or change shape.

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to test my ships, as i am still in a state of trial and error it is helpful to have another objective opinion to listen too.

I would also like to thank you for taking the free time you have too test my ships as i understand that you are quite busy with the X2 mod that you and several other have in development... I look forward to being able to test said mod and give you my comments and opinions on its performance, and i will do so as soon as i have time to do so.

I will soon have far more constriants on my time and I therefore am not expecting a whole lot more models to come out of myself over the course of the next 5-6 weeks... however after that period of time i should be able to push out at least 1 new model per week!

Well, about X3R modding, the more I think about it, the more I want to create something (ships, stations, ...), maybe a little bit later, I start modding X3R also. :D

Fair enough about the X3R modding...

Also thanks for suggestion for 'headlights' looks much cooler like the way you have it! As soon as i have some spare time will update it!

Just as an update for anyone reading this topic and wondering why there has been no new ship releases...

I have currently run into some things that are Real Life related and have had to put my developing on hold, i am however in the process of modeling a new M3 class ship so i'll see how it goes and probably have it completed within the next week or so.

Hope everyone likes the ships...

And looking forward to more releases...

P.S. i havent had time to even update the older models yet with the suggestions so will have to get to that soon aswell... still dealing with everything so it'll take some time yet.
