Help with start of A New Home
I wonder if someone can clarify what I'm supposed to do in Freedom's Reach.
I tried UFJD in case it would take me to Freedoms Reach, but it didn't. So I
jump my TM directly into the sector and then UFJD, but when I jump back I'm no closer to the Trading Station, but receive a cryptic
message from Cafe? That I'm fairly sure has nothing to do with Coffee and cake.
I assume I need to get my TM to dock at the Trading Station, but I'm not able to do so.
I get about 3 pages of angry fighters armed with anitmatter and poltergeists
that kill my TM in about 3 seconds, too quickly to allow me to jump out.
If I change to my docked fighter then I can deal with them, but my TM is immediately destroyed and I get
a message to go and get another one. Meanwhile the fighters continue to re-spawn as I kill them.
I seem to be missing a trick here. Am I just being dense?
EDIT: I am being dense. Problem solved.

It's the most trickiest mission. Only player ship survives all other AI controlled player owned ships are insta-killed.
After an hour or two of "this fails, what to do next, Ok that didn't work what else should i try
I finally managed to complete the mission.
Jump to freedom's reach in your TM with a fighter docked in it. When you jump into the sector you might or might not hear a loud bang. Don't know what causes it. As soon as you have jumped into the sector hit the unfocused jump button. When you make an unfocused jump into an uncharted/unknown sector hit the unfocused jump button again. You will then arrive at 15 km right of the north gate of Freedom's Reach. After that mission status should be updated to protect Teladi Trading Station.
While most of the fighters are near #cafe two three M3, couple of M4 and M5 are pounding the Teladi Trading Station with MAML and EMPC. It's shield will be dropping pretty rapidly so you don't have a lot of time. You can avoid bulk of enemy forces by staying away from their Gravider range 15-20Km. When you are near the Trading Station you have to destroy three fighters attacking the station. Undocking your figher from TM will result in it being insta-killed or if you are piloting that your TM will be insta-killed Easiest and maybe only way is to ram those M5s without firing a shot at nearby ships. This way you won't catch their attention as they are already focusing on Trading Station. After you have destroyed three ships mission status should update to dock TM at trading station. Once you have docked you need 546 cargo space for picking up 91 passengers. After that you are ordered to dock at military outpost in Elena's Fortune and that part of the mission is concluded with that step.

I've tried this again and again. The UFJD just drops me back in the same spot in Freedom's Reach again. Even with 400 MJ shields and turbo boost, I can't get anywhere near the Trading Station. When I return after the UFJD I get a message, with a lot of nonsense in it. I have no idea what to do now.
I'm playing without any mods or scripts.

Maverick: Requesting permission for flyby.
Air Boss Johnson: That's a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.
Goose: No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
Maverick: Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz a Split.

ow that's strange, I had absolutely no problems with this one
First I get out of my Kraken to my Boa with 2x Blastclaw Prototypes and 2x Faalcon Sentinel, then hit UFJD (still in Danna's Chance)...missed, reached the usual UFJD Sector, so I hit UFJS once again...and missed, back to Danna again. Once again and I appear 108 Km away from the Teladi Station in Freedom's Reach.
I change from Boa 154 m/s to Blastclaws 158 m/s (now that's some differecne) and fulll speed + SETA towards the station. although it is under attack by a dozen #cefa M5/3/4, by the time i reach it 90% shields are still left.
I take care of the lot in my blastclaw causing some frinedly fire on the way (the station apparently always reverses from red to neutral if you hit it).
Once eliminated I dock in my Boa then ti the station and jump out with the residents to Elena's Fortnune.
Not even 1 reload needeed to complete this mission.
Personnaly I havec problems with the following missions, Find the Scientist in Aldrin, my mission guidance is deactivated and no way to reactivate (maybe normal, I don't know) and no blue book on any station / ships, nothing happens when I get near the #deca either.
I'd appreciate hepl good people

What about the message when you enter Freedom's Reach? It's garbled.

@StarTroll - The first time I docked at Freedom's Reach Trading Station I did not
have enough cargo space to rescue the people. I sold some energy there to make room and was then told to go to Elena's Fortune. The mission guidance
did not then allow me to unload passengers and continued to point to Patrol Base even though I was given a message to go to Aldrin.
I reloaded a save just before docking at Freedom's Reach Trading Station, dumped enough energy to make room before I docked, and everything seemed to sort itself out.
@Allan F - I'm fairly sure the message is supposed to look that way and will become useful later.

@TBV that too is trange, first I killed all the attackers, the the guidance changed to Dock a Station, docked with cargo full so undocked, transfer some hundreds cells to my blastclaw then redock. 91 passengers onaboard and good to go.
and thanks for the tip, I just found the station, another STRANGE thing is that it passe through the net of Sector mapping, so I thought I had all stations on my map, but in fact nope, thanks again, I so hate terran sectrors with the laggyness and hugeness.

Then I would guess that's what broke your guidance as it did for me.StarTroll wrote:docked with cargo full so undocked, transfer some hundreds cells to my blastclaw then redock. 91 passengers onaboard and good to go.
If you can be bothered, it would be good if you could try docking for the first time with enough cargo space and see if that works for you as it did for me.
I was also told passengers were on board. They do seem to take up cargo space but are not listed as people under the ship's freight menu.

well the guidance broke after that, just before Aldrin I took two return ship missions (2x katana) and canceled them when the ships were in security, then I couldn't reactivate the guidance, now it's okay I'm bak on track
As for the passengers appearing in the cargo, I didn't check, I just followed the mission steps

They are listed separatly as passengers, alongside with your cargo.TBV wrote:I was also told passengers were on board. They do seem to take up cargo space but are not listed as people under the ship's freight menu.

I take it parking a M7M 20-25 klicks away from the trade station won't work. Between a Kracken and Aquilo I can bring 700 flails to the party as they're configured, or an extra 1,800 Flails if I offload the hammer torps. Then use M8s for the anti-capital work if needed.

Concerning how to enter freedom's Reach, I just used the UFJD in Danna's Chance; jumped about 3 times to a sector before I landed in Freedom's reach (153km off the station, had to hurry). I had some unlikely allies tho, fending off attacks on the Freedom Trade station. It were the Khaak, seems they didn't like the Xenon stealing their fun.

Yeah, I got help from the Kha'ak as well, 'couse I still had to ram 3 of 'em to push the mission forward.
I got stuck on the return trip, after finding #eaffe I thought I'd burnt out out my jumpdrive (Full 6 UFJD) and replaced it with one from a docked fighter.
Then back to the fun to be told to disable the target....
Guess what, I'm still in my Zaphyrus...

I also took ages on this mission - just fly to Dannas Chance, and save.
Each time you UFJD (UnFocused Jump Drive) you will end up back or elsewhere, just keep trying - eventually you will face a lot of opposition in FR, be patient and follow the other hints in this thread. The script only triggers when the UFJD drops you into the correct sector. Good luck

Nope. If you tell a computer-controlled ship to jump in and it gets anywhere near the CPU ship, it will be toast. Ditto for having a TM/TP/TS fly in via the N gate....Bloodraven1985 wrote:lol cant i just UFJD in with my M2 and take care of them that way and then jump a TS in to load stations crew on
To complete it successfully, you'll need to follow the directions about UFJD jumping in while flying a TM with one ship docked. Save all of the messages you see about this mission all the way until it is completed.
Good luck!
