Editing X Music

Post by EmperorJon »

Well, I'm messing around with Audacity, and I've decided to have a play with some of the X music. Currently I'm editing 08304, which I think is Oort Cloud or Kuiper Belt, one of those anyway.

So I slowed it down, lowered the pitch, and wow! It sounds so emotional. It sounds like space itself, it's open, empty, scary, mysterious, one of the great unknowns and the dreams of humanity, it's the sound of eternity!

I was just wondering, if anyone from Egosoft would let me, I might tinker with a few of them then release it in a sort of 'Sound Mod' for you to overwrite your current songs. They'll be the smae song, but edited.

And I'll make sure I get them to sound just right with some feedback.

(People feeding back about the music, not sound feedback :D )

Thinkles people?

Hmm.. No.

You might have a problem, as the songs used in X3 are written independently, and copy righted. Egosoft just has the license to use them.

Post it on the internet, you'll get sued. >.>

I thought they belonged to Egosoft, can anyone confirm either way?

You're probably better off asking in the Scripts forum. I'm pretty sure there are some existing sound mods, and copyright issues are discussed on occasion.

I know, plus Thomas Egosov Peterson (Some of the older music), Daniel Finney (newer TC IIRC) and a sound artist Natalia Yakovleva.

well, as long as you credit the original author, you might be free to edit and publish it, thus I'm confused now... o_o
