First I was afraid, I was petrified.....

Post by freddiel »

Kept thinking I would soon be splatted on an asteroid.
Because your speed and rate of turn, makes you difficult to learn.
Will I survive? Will I survive?

You’re a Kestrel M5 ship, that sets you apart.
When you accelerate you rip out everybody’s heart.
And flying through Atreus Clouds will make me shout out very loud.
WILL I SURVIVE? WILL I SURVIVE?

Hey. Hey. I won’t survive.
Oh as long as I own you I know I won’t survive.
I’ve got all my life to live, and I‘m a one eyed Paranid. :o
I won’t survive. I won’t survive.

I say dock at me but then you will just turn and toss,
Yourself at breakneck speed into my brand new Helios.
You think you have such style and grace.
But it’s me who’s sucking space.
I won’t survive. I wont survive.

Hey Hey. I won’t survive.
Oh as long as I own you I know I won’t survive.
I’ve got all my life to live, and I‘m a one eyed Paranid. :(
I won’t survive. I won’t survive.

I said scan for me the asteroids in Savage Spur.
You just laughed headed through that gate without a care.
Now I’m the one that’s in the void cos you hit that bloody roid,
I didn’t survive. I didn’t survive.

Hey Hey. I didn’t survive
Oh I know I shoulda sold you but I’m not alive.
I should reduce your breakneck speed
And maybe not smoked that space weed.
I didn’t survive. Hey Hey.

:o On the voice of Gloria Gaynor of course.

Nice try at X-Universe poetry (if any fits it, that is :P )

Flying a fully-tuned Kestrel is an interesting experience. It only takes a few near-misses (or reloads after an unlucky collision) to realize it's best used as a remote-controlled (out of sector) scoutship. Personal use is not recommended.

I personally use a Kestrel all the time--you just need to anticipate a bit more than you do with most ships!

At least it can come to a stop within a km. My first attempt at fast docking in the Xperimental Shuttle resulted in a quick reload.

That's nothing. In Reunion I outfitted an Arrow with an Afterburner and... hit it.
After killing the engines it took about 50km to come to a complete stop.

Reminds me of back in X2 when I was doing passenger transport missions in my Argon discoverer and thought it was quick. Then I heard about the Pegasus  Only one use, but it served it very well. When I got my Odysseus, it was one of the ships I brought along for the ride :D

Hehehe - yeah, the Kestrel is on of those ships that make me pay very close attention to the screen, especially in sectors like Atreus' Clouds or Omicron Lyrae where one minute you're flying along quite happily the next an EQ dock is looming out of the mist 2 inches from your nose :D

You too? Did you ever try fitting a full set of Pandora tunings as well? - can only be described as 'Ludicrous Speed'...

Yeah, that thing is rigged for brake parachutes.
Alas noone noted the space racer part.

That was the dream ship for all the newtonian physics fans. Ballistic flying at it's best. =)

Christ, i know it's like 13 km stopping distance ussually, but that's just insane, i think i know what one of the worst sectors to fly something extremly fast in non stop, Coming out of the east gate into savage spur, or the set of paranid sectors, cardinals domain and all that, i know i crashed into the bloody gate in cardinals domain, since the "fog" was so high...
