[TC] Strong Arms 1st mission

So I found the HQ and took the 1st mission which was to kill this Split. It spawned in a M2 with a few M6/5/4/3 escorts.

I quickly jumped in a Thresher and blew up only the M2.

Immediately I went from 10/10 rank to -3!

Just from the 1st mission I lost all my Split rank. Is that the intended result?

That's the downside of a high combat rank, with "low" rank you get an M4 to kill which is not even mentioned in any repgain/loss. =)

Yes that's intentional. You should read the briefing of the mission. It says that you should kill a split who is very close to the ronkhar family (or something like that)

Yep... Doing this mission when all my assets was in Split cores sectors was a very very very bad idea in my previous game...

If you read the brief you can be prepare and park your ships before doing the mission. After doing it, you do some missions for the split and after 20 mintues you are almost where you were before.

That's only the first mission, all other will be against pirates. Unlike Duke's...

I've reloaded to an earlier save... think I'll try the other corp missions 1st

I'm going to try and finish the hub, FF, HQ, then the terran plot before working on the different corp plots.


That's the best way for me, since I plan to play nice with the races, only as long as I have to.

Once I get the Terran bit done, and am spitting out ships from my HQ, I plan on killing everything that moves.

I've actually finished the terran, aldrin, hub, hq and ff missions, ie all the main plotlines, except the new treasure hunt. So now embarking on the corp missions. I also realised I went too far down the road b4 saving so I'm continuing with -3 Split rank

With rank in the negatives, no split station will offer me missions! I had to find split in other race sectors... tough going so far.

Strange thing tho, even tho I can't dock, my STs can. So I've set all my STs to work in Split space and I can see my rank gradually increasing.

Just hope for a K or J or Q jumping into Thyn's Abyss, that will bring you back in business with one kill. Or even better, try Zyarth's, chances are MUCH higher for K/J passing through there regularly.

You should do what I did for Strong Arms, Atreus and on Monday for Duke's.

You go in with an M7M and 10 well trained marines and capture the target ship.

If you are running 2.0 or earlier then you should transport back your marines and then destroy the ship - that way you complete the mission.

If you have updated to 2.1 you only have to capture the ship (since by doing so your marines kill all of the occupants) you do not have to destroy the ship - though I did just for the hell of it and because I didn't need another Ody.

Your rank loss will be minimal (a few %age points)

The good news is, I flew around Spilt space, found a bunch of freighters requiring escort. It spawned a total of 5 Khaak M2s, so I'm now back to split rank 6
