X3: Terran Conflict UPLINK Competition

Welcome to the first X3TC competition! Starting this week we will offer you the chance to win some prizes by playing X3TC. Each round of the competition will have different gamestart requirement and a specific goal to be attained during the week that the round lasts.

Round One of the competition has the following challenge:

Gamestart: Humble Merchant
Goal: Place Advanced Satellites from the sector Elena's Fortune to Omicron Lyrae. The quickest time wins.
Deadline: 1 week from start (20/05/2009 - 00:00 BST)
Extra Conditions

• All Advanced Satellites must be in place when the stats export takes place.
• The HUB must not be used.

Prize: A copy of X3: Gold Edition signed by the EGOSOFT team.

You can join in the competition fun by following the instructions below and uploading your new game's progress by using this special competition UPLINK area.

By submitting your stats to this dedicated UPLINK area you will not overwrite your normal X3TC UPLINK stats, if you have already uploaded them. Important note: members of EGOSOFT staff will not be permitted to enter this competition and entries with the **MODIFIED** tag will not be permitted to enter (or if entered, will not be judged).

The winner of each round of this competition will be announced just a few days after the stated deadline and before the next round of the competition starts.

I'd say give it a shot anyway. Never hurts, plus it's designed to improve your enjoyment of the game. So it's a win-win really, even if you don't get the big prize

Install up to patch 1.2/1.3 do a mission with crazy rewards and then place the sats inside of a game day??

Sounds too easy to gain an unfair advantage.... If you put the game version in the upload data, that might make it better.

Important Note: Stats from **MODIFIED** games will not be permitted to be entered.

So what about those people who have got a modified game without enabling scripts - those people where this has been caused by the AV program for instance...??? I know you have to draw the line somewhere, but it hardly seems fair on them.

The conditions which matter are mentioned in the OP. There's no mention of a route you must take, so if you think you can do it quicker by, say, going West from EF and up through the Boron sectors, then go for it. The condition only says quickest time spent, not shortest route taken.

Unfortunately, there's no way to determine how the modified flag originated, so that can't be helped. If you know what's causing the modified tag, though, why not disable it before you start the competition? You're starting a new game, so you have control over the conditions under which you start it.

It's a good idea though, about as close as we get to competitive PvP as we're going to get I guess.

Advanced satellites are not showned in the regular statistics, so I guess they are exported anyways?

Another question, you have to start the game on/after may 20th or you can do it before and just upload the stats during that week?

What if one of your Advanced satellites gets shot down? will it have to replaced?

It does look like the "start" was yesterday, and the deadline is the 20/05/2009 - 00:00 BST. Submit before deadline.

@Blake: When you export stats, you either have the required satellites, or you don't. Therefore, how you keep them alive is up to you.

i cant seem to find the file to uplink my data i even started a new vanilla game after clean install just to do so
