I decided id give this a try with some random ideas i have!

After the people of the so called "Pirate Loop" decided enough was enough the various goverments allied so as to destroy the pirate threat once and for all!
And thus after almost two years of constant war the Neon Federation was born. The Federation comprises the "Pirate Loop" systems Bala Gis Joy, Split Fire, Loomankstrats Legacy, Dannas Chance, Brennens Triumph, Noplious' Memorial and Hatikvahs Faith.
The Neon Federal Navy (NFN) gaurds these systems against attack from pirate and other threats. Although small it comprises one of the most battle-hardened troops in the universe, including many previous mercenarys that decided to stay at the end of the Piracy Wars.
The Navy is supported by the Spacebourne Armed Forces (SAF) which provide the "boots on the ground" and at this point most troops are expert boarders.
The Federation, although independant,has the support of the Split (thanks to a mercenary acting as an intermediary, gaining them their support) the Argon and the Boron. The Teladi are on good terms with the Federal Government but refused an alliance in case they angered their pirate friends. The Paranid are another story, they refused to help in the war, they refuse to even open talks with the Federal government.
No-one knows why. Rumors say they were planning an expansion in the area and the Federation stopped these short.
So when the Paranid government called for all the Paranid left in the Federation to return to the "Dukes Glow" back in the home systems the NFN began planning defensive operations in the Split Fire and Hatikvahs Faith areas. Hoping they wouldnt be needed the plans were put together quickly.
Aboard the M2 Thor, Captain Uma Kellar looked out across the Split Fire nebulas. She wondered how many people were about to die to protect them, looking around she watched as crew members read intel reports and watched the huge holographic disply in the center of the bridge. She turned to the three men standing to attention infront of her. Two were captains of the escort frigates that were accompanying her ship. The M7 Interceptor and the M7M Whirlwind. Both these ships had good and experienced crews, they would serve her well in the coming days.
The third man was the commander of the SAF forces assigned to her fleet, a feirce man she had no doubt he would not hesitate to kill her in a moments notice, "perhaps this is why the Split respect him so much she" thought.
He was telling her about his forces and how he felt they would hold up against Paranid shock troops.
He was not hopefull.
"My men are as well trained and as experienced as any Paranid troops are, but they still dont have the size or strength. In short, once the Nids close the distance we have two options, run or die."
"Thats optimistic!" Commander Freng turned and watched as the simulated battle on the planets surface ends. With a Paranid victory.
