News: X3:TC Update 1.4 now available for download

Post by Vassenego » Mon, 22. Dec 08, 19:33

Following hot on the heels of the 1.3 Update for Terran Conflict, Egosoft is pleased to announce the availability of Update 1.4. It includes a few new features to enhance your gameplay and as usual some bug-splatting has been done.

The 1.4 Update for X3: Terran Conflict can be downloaded as usual from the Download Section.

The Update fixes many issues which you have brought to our attention in addition to adding new features such as improved marine usage and we have also taken the unusual step of including a player modification in an official update, in the shape of "Gazz's Turret Fixing Mod".
We have also taken note of some of the feedback you leave on the forums and have rebalanced some taxi missions and improved graphical performance still further.

The complete list:
  • New Features and Improvements:

    - Improved carrier support in defend station mission
    - Smarter Marine selection during boarding tasks
    - Finished marines are now listed at military outposts
    - Marine capacity for OTAS Sirokos increased
    - Timing rebalanced for passenger taxi missions
    - Gazz's Turret Fixing Mod included
    - Improved graphical performance

    Fixes:

    - Invincible Kha'ak Station during plot fixed
    - Stopped Mammoths from occurring during transport missions
    - Syndicate Pirateship spawning fixed
    - Several corporation fixes
    - Occasional Terran scene 4 plot break fixed
    - Return big ship to station mission fixed
    - Inaccurate target arrows to complex substations
    - Several gate orientations fixed
    - Freight Drone exploit fixed
    - HUB exploit with Trans-orbital Accelerators fixed
A big thank you to everyone who has assisted us in the investigation and testing of some of these issues.

Attention: As usual we advise those running the Steam version that the Steam client will download and install the patch automatically; there is no need to download the update from Egosoft.com.

Thanks, that looks useful - a little Xmas bonus!

I take it that Steam users should wait for the patch via a Steam update? Is that the usual thing for X3TC?

Cheers, and have a safe Xmas.

That's correct. The Steam client will download and install the update automatically. No need to download the update from here.

In fact, you'll break things if you install the retail patch over the Steam version - although if you know what you are doing, then its possible to extract some parts of the patch. This is not supported, however, so do it at your own risk. No doubt you can google up the threads on doing this for the 1.3 patch - ignore any which describe the 1.2.1 patch, which was a data-only patch.

-Several corporation fixes. I wonder if this applyies only to that one left semi broken mission, or will it fix the issue of getting missions from some of them?

And now were waiting for steam to update... I wonder how many 'are we there yet' steam related posts will pop up? Anyone want to play the guessing game? ;-)

Anyway's, Good Work Egosoft and Merry Christmas!

Has OOS been fixed, or is it still messed up? The list didn't say.
How can one player flying one ship defeat a big gang of pirates?

Good flying, or reinforcements. Lots of reinforcements.

No OOS wasn't touched as that will require much more testing time for balancing.

Can anyone confirm if the target nearest enemies function still targets non player ship targeted missiles? That is so damn annoying when trying to use the target nearest enemy in a dogfight. It's not in the list so I assume it hasn't changed, but it's such a required feature when piloting a fighter it really does need to be looked at in the next patch if it's not in this one.

Oh and another question regarding Steam. I have a couple of things installed as false patches. Will I need to remove those files before Steam will download the new files? Also the next non egosoft cat/dat combination is the script installer files. If these are overwritten, will the installer still work, or should use the prepare for patch function now and wait for the download?

Merry Christmas Egosoft. Thanks for a great game. And Merry Christmas to all the forum users too.

I thought the turret fix may not apply to all the ships currently existing in my universe which would have been a blow, but looking at the mod's description it appears the ships only need to transit between sectors 'without you' (does that mean with you OOS for both sectors or just with you not piloting?)

Also, I thought the Sirokos wasn't in game, if that's been changed then is it now in-game?

To be on safe side send the ship through a gate without you piloting :)
