RULE : Porting of TR scripts (non authors)

Post by LV »

just a little point here

until i either get confirmation + proof that the orig author has allowed porting of their X3 TR scripts to TC any ports will be locked.

If people are not around anymore they still have the rights to their work

If authors are no longer around i think the way we'll treat this at the moment is scripters should remake the scripts with their own version.

That said if anybody points me to and old post where permission is given in a blanket format e.g. "feel free to use my scripts" as i've always said that will be fine for people who have left.

I'll take community comment but this is an IP issue ladies, If you don't know what Intellectual Property is don't comment ;)

Thanks for addressing this early on. I saw a trend developing.

It's relly important that mod makers' work stay linked with their names (if they want it to be). A lot of mod makers have aspiratons of using the skills they learned later in life. They need to retain ownership. These people don't have the same kind of safeguards and protections that companies with IP have so it's incredibly important to keep the trend of asking permissions going.

I've only converted a few for my own use. I have no intention of putting them up for others without getting the approval first.
