Donation for forum software / drobna wplata na oprogramowanie forum

Recently forum hasn't worked quite often. Surely, It is mostly the fault of old software on the server. To avoid such situation I would like to ask how many of you would agree to support Egosoft with a small donation. I'm not trying to get to know why the company cannot buy licanced software. Avarage price of professional software is about $300.
I do not question that the company can afford it. But as one of many users I would like the forum to work every day.

Please do not see this post as provocation, as far as I know I do not write
anything wrong aimed at Ego - due to frequent failures of forum. The following questionnaire is aimed to show this problem, as well as show possible options and solutions.... taken by the company or by us

Dotacja na oprogramowanie forum

Ostatnimi czasy forum dosc czesto nie dziala. Z pewnoscia jest to w duzej mierze wina starego oprogramowania na serwerze. Aby uniknac w przyszlosci podobnych przestojow, chcialbym sie dowiedziec jak wielu z nas wspomoglo by Egosoft drobnym datkiem na platne oprogramowanie.

Srednia cena profesjonalnego oprogramowania to okolo 300$. Nie dociekam dlaczego firma nie wykupi licencjonowanego oprogramowania, nie neguje ich plynnosci finansowej. Ale jako jeden z wielu uzytkownikow, chcialbym by forum dzialalo kazdego dnia.
Prosze nie odbierac tego jako forme prowokacji, w koncu nie pisze niczego zlego pod adresem Ego - z racji czestych awarii forum.
Poniekad ankieta ma za zadanie uswiadomic problem, oraz wskazac mozliwosc opcji jak i sposob rozwiazania... przez firme badz nas samych
Pomysl powstal z jednego powodu: wszyscy widza, wszyscy wiedza, ale nikt nie nazwie probelmu glosno po imieniu.

Ankieta ma termin przydatnosci do spozycia 21 dni.

Czy wplacilbys bardzo mala sume na koszt oprogramowania, potrzebnego do bezawaryjnego dzialania forum?

Avarage price of professional software is about $300.

You right, IP.B costs 230$ (commercial licence), and converter from phpbb2 to it costs 60$

Im think vBulletin is also worth of consideration. Its much faster than IP.B, and it has free converter:

I'm not too sure about this one, it would be like buying the game, then having to pay more money to find solutions that may arise after you've bought it. I would say that i've helped pay for this forum by buying the games, if i were to pay, i would expect a bonus, a special ship/station pack maybe. An extra sector in my name (available from the forum as patches after payment is sent.)

But i think honestly that paying more money doesn't necessarily mean the forums will work better. There's always a chance of them breaking down, and then you'd have complaints from paying customers demanding refunds, i dont think egosoft would want the hassle of doing that.

Of course they could put up a link to make donations (if there isn't one already, i haven't looked), i would probably make one then, but i wouldn't be happy about 'having' to pay for something i believe should be part of the service, especially when you have a game that may be faulty etc.

Uh, I dunno about any of you...but I happen to have a spare vBulletin software license...It was used on my website, which is still down thanks to the fact that my server fried on Christmas and I can't get a replacement.

This is a completely pointless poll. The recent occasional problems have nothing to do with the forum software (PHPBB) which although free, is pretty reliable and used by a vast range of sites across the internet. This is not a money issue, and hence donations are not required (well, you're welcome to contribute to the developers' pizza fund, but that's a different matter ).
